WNBA star, Brittney Griner, sentenced to nine years in Russian prison
It amazes me how very little people try to inform themselves about the places they go to. I remember watching "brokedown palace" when I was in middle school and while that is a work of fiction and the characters were set up for a drug crime it isn't far off from the reality of the laws in different countries. We even have varying laws and minimum sentences depending on which state you live in the U.S. So while Griner did have a medical pass that doesn't transfer over when she leaves U.S. territory. Was she quite capable of going without cannabis while she was out of the country and wait til she was back home? I think so. Just because she is considered a celebrity here doesn't mean she is in Russia so they won't be giving her special treatment.
