How to Use goHunt
This video demonstrates how to use goHunt, goHunt.com, to apply for tags in hunting units that will offer you the best chance to have a successful Western Big Game hunt including Rocky Mountain Elk, Roosevelt Elk, Tule Elk, Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Columbian Blacktail Deer, Columbian Whitetail Deer, Sitka Blacktail Deer, Coues Deer, Antelope, Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep, California Bighorn Sheep, Desert Bighorn Sheep, Dall Sheep, Barbary Sheep, Rocky Mountain Goat, Moose, Alaska/Yukon Moose, Black Bear, Brown/Grizzly Bear, Caribou, Bison, Muskox, Wolf, Ibex, and Oryx.
I use a Colorado Rocky Mountain Elk hunt as my demonstration. I will buy an archery elk season tag over the counter. In the demonstration I choose between the 4 rifle seasons which one gives me the best odds.
You can optimize your hunt for draw odds, trophy potential, percentage of success rate, or percentage of public land.

Best pheasant hunting ever! Of course, any day that you get to go pheasant hunting is the best pheasant hunting ever! It was really a much better day pheasant hunting than I could imagine. Lily started out with a phenomenal hunt. She was pointing out pheasants all over the place. If I could've shot a little better, I would've limited out within the hour. (If that ever is the case, I usually put away the gun and just video the dogs hunting.) The hunt wained for a little bit during Charlie's hunting session. More on that hunt a little later. But then picked up when Tori got her chance. When they were all three out together we added another bird to the bag.
There isn't much video of Charlie or Tori out pointing at pheasants. Tori did very well pointing out several pheasants. However, as you could tell from the video I didn't have the camera angled too well, and I didn't get any good video of Tori out hunting pheasants. But Charlie didn't have a chance. A bald eagle came soaring through the area and was hunting pheasants for himself. CRAZY! I marched towards the bald eagle to see if I could get some good video of the eagle hunting pheasants (I actually saw him chasing a pheasant in flight). CRAZY!
The sad part is this is the second to last day of pheasant hunting for this hunting season. I didn’t get to go pheasant hunting last week because here in Colorado (and most of the country) it was too cold to go pheasant hunting. And next Sunday, I’ll be at work.
I will take the dogs pheasant hunting once in March, but pheasant hunting in March gets a little dicey. I don’t know exactly why, but for several years I’ve noticed that the pheasants don’t fly as well and the dogs actually just pick them up off the ground while they are running trying to get momentum to take flight. I always thought it was because the birds were molting, but a quick Google search says they don’t molt in the spring. Who knows? If you do know, please leave a comment.

Hunting Video Editing Tricks and Tips
Bird hunters, especially upland game hunters, have a challenging task when trying to film their hunts. When filming upland game your only real option is to use a GoPro.
The problem with a GoPro is the super wide-angle lens it uses. When a shot gets beyond 20 yards it becomes difficult to see. I try to use cropping to my benefit when trying to bring my viewer into the action.
The only problem with that is it requires a high-resolution 4K? 5K? to keep the picture crisp. This brings us to another problem.
Memory storage. Memory storage can really gunk up your computer if you are trying to put a full week's worth of pheasant hunting on it all at once at 5K.
I personally stay away from 5K and save the computer space.

Pheasant Hunting TRIPLE FLUSH! February 7, 2021
My three Brittanys and I took to the Colorado prairies this weekend.
It was a fascinating hunt. Lily had a hard time finding the bird she had a point on. The same thing happened last week when she ended up doing a 360 looking for the rooster.
Charlie had a couple false points and then got a little gunshy. He ended up creeping on a couple birds just trying to make sure he knew he had a bird.

Pheasant Hunting in Colorado, January 31, 2021
The ending to this video is something I've never seen before.
My three Brittanys, Lily, Charlie, Tori, and I took to the field last Sunday at Rocky Mountain Roosters for a little pheasant hunting.
The hunting was fantastic! We saw up to two dozen birds. I got three and took a shot at probably five more. But they were wearing their Kevlar vests and flew off. There were hunters next to me who also were affected by the Kevlar vests and we ended up playing pheasant pong for the morning.
It was a bright sunny day and the temperature approached 50 degrees so it was quite pleasant.
Lily, the youngster at two years old, got out of the crate first and has a really nice point to start off, which at the beginning of the video. But then she got a bit jittery and ended up flushing a couple. Finally, she settled and had a solid point on a rooster.
Charlie is always rock solid. He's on point in the intro. I was joking with the other hunters that Charlie will sometimes go on point and say, "Dad, there is a bird over there...Yeah, just this side of the Utah border." When Charlie is on point you sometimes have to do a little searching for the bird. He will have points up to 60 yards away! Crazy! When he was younger I'd call him off of points thinking it was a false point only to come across the birds 40-50-60 yards down the line.
Tori, the oldest at five, is the most independent-minded one. She has her own ideas about hunting and thinks that it'd be more fun sometimes if she just chases down the birds. We worked on "Whoa" a bit, which you'll see a bit of in the video. She came around and ended up having the last point of the day on a hen that was on a frozen lake.

What Does It Mean When A Dog Honors A Point

Lily started with a nice point on a rooster that ran on her. There wasn’t anyway she could outflank it and ended up flushing it.
Then she came across another rooster, maybe the same rooster, that also ran on her.
Finally, she got a really nice point on a hen and had a nice retrieve on it while I reloaded.
Charlie was as solid as ever. He had two solid points.
