Rep. Dan Goldman Tells Anderson Cooper His CNN Colleagues Gave ‘No Pushback’ on Trump
Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) is not a fan of how Jake Tapper and Dana Bash moderated Thursday’s debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.
Biden’s performance was universally panned across the spectrum and overshadowed the fact that Trump uttered about 30 falsehoods during the debate on CNN. Tapper and Bash took heat from liberals for not fact-checking either of the candidates, who both made inaccurate statements, though Trump was especially mendacious. Meanwhile, Trump and other Republicans praised the moderators.
Appearing on Friday’s edition of AC360 on CNN, Goldman fielded a question from Anderson Cooper and pivoted to how Tapper and Bash conducted the debate.

‘Is That How He Is Every Day?’ Anderson Cooper Asks Kamala Harris About Joe Biden’s Condition
A visibly concerned Anderson Cooper grilled Vice President Kamala Harris over President Joe Biden’s condition after Thursday night’s disastrous debate, asking her if his performance during it was representative of his ability to function on a day-to-day basis.
“I know we have to go. The person we saw tonight, the president we saw tonight on that stage: Is that how he is every day?” Cooper asked Harris during a tense post-debate interview.
“The Joe Biden that I work with every day is someone who, as I have said, has performed in a way that has been about bringing people into the Oval Office, Republicans and Democrats, to compromise in a way that is extraordinary these days, because it just doesn’t happen, but Joe Biden can make it happen,” replied Harris, avoiding the spirit of the question.

Joe Scarborough’s Sad Reaction to Biden Debate Performance: Trump Will Win in 2024
Following President Joe Biden’s debate performance, Joe Scarborough was sad to admit that “unless there’s a change,” former President Donald Trump will be the next president of the United States.
The Morning Joe host said of the widely criticized performance, Biden “tragically did not rise to the occasion” of Thursday night’s debate, to which co-host Mika Brzezinski admitted, “Biden had a terrible night.”
It’s a stunning development for close observers of the MSNBC morning show, whose hosts have consistently defended President Biden’s mental acuity while condemning reports criticizing his clear decline and stiffening over the past three and a half years in office. And like a loving family member couching bad news in as nice a way as possible, Scarborough clearly explained how difficult this was for him.

Biden Team Hits Back After Debate With Whopping ’50 Lies Trump Told On The Debate Stage’
President Joe Biden’s campaign hit back after a widely-panned debate performance by listing a whopping 50 “lies” ex-President Donald Trump “told from the debate stage.”
President Biden and Trump finally went head-to-head at CNN’s debate Thursday night in the earliest general election presidential matchup ever, and the reviews are in. After some deadly early stumbles, President Biden’s performance improved, but not enough to ward off abject panic from some Democrats, and calls for him to drop out.
Vice President Kamala Harris made the rounds after the debate, including during CNN’s Debate Night in America coverage to defend Biden’s “slow start” and to assail Trump over his many falsehoods.

Sean Hannity Offers Kudos To ‘Fake News’ CNN, Jake Tapper and Dana Bash for Fair Debate
Conservative media personality Sean Hannity gave kudos to “fake news CNN” for delivering a fair presidential debate despite “trashing” former President Donald Trump “for many years.”
Speaking with Fox News in the spin room after the Thursday showdown, Hannity just about managed to utter a rare compliment to the CNN team and hosts, journalists Jake Tapper and Dana Bash – albeit coupled with the knee-jerk “fake” prefix to signal to his MAGA listeners that he’s still on their team.
Hannity said: “In fairness to fake news CNN, Fake Jake, and Fake Dana, they put aside their prejudice, their hatred towards Donald Trump for the night, and they actually asked questions and waited for answers.

Things Get Tense on the Set of Morning Joe Following Disastrous Biden Debate:
'You're the Only One Raising Your Voice'
Things got remarkably tense on the set of Morning Joe as co-host Mika Brzezinski took issue with everyone chalking up President Joe Biden’s debate performance as a disaster.
Co-host Joe Scarborough argued Donald Trump will win the election in November “unless there’s a change” following the CNN debate performance. Contributor Mike Barnicle said Biden let “every fastball” fly by him, and he was not up for the debate.
Brzezinski then jumped in to tell everyone to “calm down.”

Lawrence Jones and Democratic Strategist Throw Down Over Debate on Fox & Friends
Fox & Friends host Lawrence Jones went head-to-head with Democratic strategist and former New York senator David Carlucci over Thursday’s CNN presidential debate, joking that it “takes guts” to “defend that performance last night” when the guest touted President Joe Biden’s “substance” over “style.”
Carlucci appeared alongside Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce on panel and held Democratic party line, standing over Biden.
Meanwhile, Bruce, who raised eyebrows after Jones introduced her as a “former Democrat”, laid into the “shock” communicated by some Democrats calling for Biden to step back from the race. The blame, she said, lies squarely with “the party.”

Biden Adviser Tells CNN He’s Not Dropping Out Despite Debate and Growing Liberal Media Pressure
President Joe Biden is not considering dropping out of the presidential race despite his dismal debate performance and a widespread liberal media pressure campaign to get him to do so, according to CNN’s Kayla Tausche.
“Lot of questions for the Biden campaign,” observed John Berman on Friday morning before asking “What are you hearing from the Biden team, Kayla?”
“Well, John, the Biden team as of this moment plans to pack up what few wins they had on the debate stage last night. You’ve already seen some of those packaged and posted on social media, and to move on and focus on what’s coming down the pike,” began Tausche. “There are no plans, I’m told, for the president to drop out of the race and even further, I’m told that the president is still committed to a second debate in September, which is currently scheduled for September 10 and hosted by ABC News, much along the lines of the rules of the debate that was hosted last night.”

‘Come ON!’ Biden Campaign Ally Hits CNN — Live On CNN — For Not ‘Calling Out’ Trump’s Debate ‘Lies’
Biden-Harris 2024 National Advisory Board member Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA) hit CNN — live on CNN’s air — for failing to challenge former President Donald Trump’s “lies” at the debate.
President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump finally went head-to-head at CNN’s debate Thursday night in the earliest general election presidential matchup ever, and the reviews are in. After some deadly early stumbles, President Biden’s performance improved, but not enough to ward off abject panic from some Democrats, and calls for him to drop out.
Those calls to drop out have become the most intense story to emerge from the debate, but CNN also came under intense criticism over their execution of the decision not to have moderators fact-check the candidates when Trump rattled off as many as 50 falsehoods.

Axios Reporter Torches Biden Team Over Instinct ‘To Deflect, To Gaslight, To Not Tell the Truth’
Axios reporter Alex Thompson torched President Joe Biden’s team for gaslighting the American public about Biden’s condition following the president’s dismal debate performance on Thursday night.
In a Friday morning appearance on CNN, Thompson said after covering the Biden administration for three and a half years, “I can tell you that the White House’s response every single time has come up for three and a half years has been to deflect, to gaslight, to not tell the truth, not just to reporters, not just to other Democrats, but even at times to themselves about the president’s limitations at his age.”
“There’s a reason why he has not done as many interviews or press conferences as any president in decades. There’s a reason he does not do events almost ever before 10 a.m., and is rarely on camera after 6 p.m., and the reason is because he has limitations,” continued Thompson. “He is 81-years-old, but the problem was they were not forthright with other Democrats., they weren’t, at times, forthright with themselves, and that is why Democrats are in full freakout mode, because what they saw is finally what they have been obscuring.”

Biden Tells Reporters He ‘Did Well’ — Slams ‘Liar’ Trump In Waffle House Stop After CNN Debate
President Joe Biden was upbeat following his debate with former President Donald Trump, telling reporters he did “well” and slamming Trump as a “liar” during a stop at an Atlanta Waffle House.
The big story to emerge from CNN’s debate Thursday night was the panic after deadly early stumbles from Biden set the tone for debate coverage — though his performance improved as the debate went on. Brutal quotes from some Democrats and calls for Biden to drop out from his supporters in the media ensued.
But it was a peppy and optimistic Biden who showed up to a debate watch party with First Lady Dr. Jill Biden to give a pep talk:

Fox News Says Supreme Court's Jan. 6 Decision 'Rips The Wings Off' Jack Smith's Case Against Trump
Fox News legal analyst Jonathan Turley reacted to the latest decision by the Supreme Court regarding the January 6 riot by arguing it “rips the wings off” Jack Smith’s cases against Donald Trump.
On Friday, the highest court in the country ruled that prosecutors with the Department of Justice had overstepped in using an obstruction law to charge January 6 rioters. The decision could force prosecutors to reopen some of the cases of those convicted for their role in the riot.
Reacting to the news on Friday morning, Turley told Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum that the decision was good news for the former president because it “rips the wings off” the case Smith is building against Trump in his D.C. criminal trial.

Pro-Trump CNN Analyst Stunned By Ex-Biden Spox Bedingfield’s Slam On Trump
Pro-Trump CNN analyst Scott Jennings was taken aback by ex-Biden spox-turned-CNNer Kate Bedingfield’s hard shot at ex-President Donald Trump during debate coverage.
We all know how CNN’s debate Thursday night turned out now: deadly stumbles from Biden set the tone for debate coverage — though his performance improved as the debate went on. Brutal quotes from some Democrats and calls for Biden to drop out from his supporters in the media ensued, while Trump was roundly criticized for spewing a blizzard of falsehoods.
But in the before times, during CNN’s Debate Night in America pre-debate coverage, analysts were still duking it out to set the table for the showdown. Bedingfield stunned Jennings by accusing Trump of stoking “the worst of White supremacy in this country”:

Scott Jennings Compares Biden Campaign to the Titanic as David Axelrod Nods Along:
CNN’s Scott Jennings compared Joe Biden’s reelection campaign to the Titanic and David Axelrod, an ex-Obama operative, wondered how a decision to stay in the presidential race might affect his legacy during a panel discussion on Friday.
“I don’t think they’re [Democrats] going to replace him [Biden. I was thinking, I didn’t sleep much last night because I’m so worried about the president,” began Jennings. “And I’m worried about what we’ve been told about the president by the White House, the White House press secretary, his campaign. We’ve been told a lot of lies by a lot of Democrats and a lot of people on the government payroll about his fitness for office.”
Then he dove into his analogy:
I was staying up overnight thinking about the movie Titanic and specifically the string quartet that was playing on the deck. They’re going to ride it out, and they’re going to play the music, the people around him, and this ship is going to sink, and they’re going to have no one to blame for Donald Trump coming back but themselves. It is squarely on their shoulders.

‘I Win This State in November!’ A Raging and Coughing Biden Makes Clear He’s Staying In The Race
After receiving widespread criticism by members of his own party over his performance at last night’s debate, Joe Biden told supporters he intends to win North Carolina in November.
Biden’s less-than-stellar performance against Donald Trump at CNN’s debate has left many Democrats wondering privately and publicly whether he will drop out of the race. During a rally in North Carolina on Friday, Biden dispelled those rumors during a speech where he vowed to continue running for a second term.
“Thanks to all the state and local leaders here today, the great musicians and entertainers who performed earlier. Folks, let me tell you why I’m here in North Carolina. I’m here for one reason…Because I intend to win the state in November,” Biden yelled to his adoring supporters.

Trump Hails CNN and ‘Very Professional’ Jake Tapper and Dana Bash: ‘They Treated Me Very Fairly’
Former President Donald Trump praised CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash for their moderation of Thursday’s debate.
Tapper and Bash asked Trump and President Joe Biden questions for 90 minutes, during which time Trump uttered some 30 falsehoods and Biden repeatedly tripped over his words and at one point declared, “We finally beat Medicare.”
Biden’s stumbles were the story of the night, as even MSNBC hosts openly discussed replacing him on the ticket. However, some liberals were critical of the moderators, who did not fact-check the candidates. Meanwhile, conservatives praised the duo. That included Trump, who spoke at a rally in Virginia on Friday.

Fox’s Lawrence Jones Asks Mike Johnson If Biden Qualified for Office After Debate:
Fox & Friends co-host Lawrence Jones thought President Joe Biden’s performance at Thursday’s CNN debate was so disastrous that he turned to talk of the 25th Amendment the next morning while speaking with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).
“I know it’s our instincts to follow the election, but based on the performance last night, shouldn’t we be talking about the 25th Amendment? Have you heard from cabinet members?” Jones asked Johnson during a Friday interview.
The 25th Amendment deals with the succession of the presidency and the fitness of presidents to hold office. In a rant against both Biden and Donald Trump, Daily Show host Jon Stewart accused the former of having “resting 25th Amendment face.”

“It pains me to say this today, but I think President Biden needs to step down and be replaced,” Sara Haines said on Friday’s The View after calling the debate “really hard to watch.”
She clarified that she would vote for Biden over Donald Trump in November, but argued the only real shot at beating Trump is finding another candidate. Haines accused Democrats of being too dismissive of concerns about the president’s age.

Trump Warns Rally-Goers Not to Hang Out with Fictional Character: ‘Don’t Do It’
Former President Donald Trump cautioned his supporters not to have dinner with the antagonist of the 1991 film Silence of the Lambs, or as Trump called it, Silence of the Lamb.
Speaking at a rally in Chesapeake, Virginia on Friday, the former president took a victory lap after debating President Joe Biden the night before. Trump has previously praised Hannibal Lecter – the cannibalistic serial killer played by Anthony Hopkins in the aforementioned film. This time, the former president went a step further and warned his supporters not to have dinner with the character.
“They’re coming from prisons and jails, mental institutions and insane asylums like Silence of the Lamb,” Trump claimed of undocumented immigrations coming into the U.S. “The press always says, ‘Why does he ramble about Silence of the Lamb?’ The late, great Hannibal Lecter. He’d like to have you over for dinner. Did you ever? Don’t do it. If he suggests, ‘I’d like to have you for dinner,’ don’t go. But these are the people– these are the people that are coming into our country and they are coming in numbers that nobody can believe.”

MSNBC legal analyst and former acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal sounded the alarm on Friday after the Supreme Court overturned a 1984 precedent referred to as “Chevron deference” that empowered federal agencies to regulate large swathes of American life, everything from healthcare standards to the environment to financial protections.
“Neal, I understand we also got a batch of decisions that have to do with Chevron. What do we need to know about those cases?” MSNBC anchor Ana Cabrera asked Katyal.
“These are momentous major decisions. The Supreme Court has done an extraordinary thing, an extraordinarily dangerous thing,” Katyal began, adding:

Jim Acosta Clashes With Ex-Trump Aide Claiming It’s ‘Cheating’ For Democrats to ‘Switch’ Candidates
CNN host Jim Acosta pushed back on claims by ex-Trump aide Bryan Lanza that Democrats should be forced to stick with their choice of President Joe Biden for the 2024 presidential election, saying it would feel like “cheating” for the party to switch candidates “at this point.”
The exchange came as the pair weighed up the panic among Democrats in response to Biden’s performance in the first presidential debate on Thursday. Prominent supporters of the president have called for him to drop out of the race.
Speaking on CNN Newsroom on Friday, as Acosta ran over some of the falsehoods peddled by former President Donald Trump during the debate, Lanza reflected that the main takeaway for the American public was seeing in Biden “a president who just doesn’t have the cognitive fitness to be president.”

“She said what we saw “‘last night on the debate stage was Joe Biden,'” continued Hill, prompting The Boston Globe‘s Jackie Kucinich to react.

CNN Data Guru Explains Absolutely Dire Historic Trend For Biden After Losing Debate to Trump

The first is that, you know, last night was the first debate of this cycle, but the second is it’s actually his first general debate victory in the minds of the voters ever, ever,” Enten explained, adding:
