President Biden and Trump are busy preparing for the CNN debate on Thursday, the earliest general election presidential matchup ever. Haberman was a guest on Monday night’s edition of CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, during which she provided insight and analysis on the debate based on her unrivaled expertise and sourcing on Trump.

Judge Juan Merchan, who presided over the hush money trial of former President Donald Trump, partially lifted the gag order against Trump on Tuesday. Trump was fined $10,000 for the violations.

Conservative pundit Hugh Hewitt bucked many of his right-wing colleagues by defending CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash from criticism ahead of Thursday’s presidential debate. Tapper and Bash will moderate this cycle’s first debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. Conservatives have upped their attacks on the CNN hosts as the event draws nearer. “I will say, I don’t share concerns about CNN or Jake and Dana,” Hewitt said on Tuesday’s edition of The Story on Fox News. “I worked with them on debates in 2015 and ’16 – four with Dana, two with Jake. And they’re professional.”

Former Republican National Committee official Doug Heye defended CNN’s Kasie Hunt while appearing on Monday’s Special Report on Fox News. CNN will host the first presidential debate this cycle between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. According to NBC News, the men illegally crossed the border in March, were apprehended, and were given notices to appear at an immigration hearing before being released. Republicans have seized on the case as an example of President Joe Biden’s failed border and immigration policies.

CNN’s Van Jones had harsh words for the pro-Palestine protestors who clashed outside a Los Angeles synagogue on Sunday, going so far as to call the demonstration a “pogrom” against Jewish people. The protest was held to oppose a real estate event being held at the synagogue on Sunday by My Israel Home, a company that markets settlements in the West Bank. Pro-Israel counter-demonstrators showed up to oppose the protestors, leading to violent clashes between both sides. Pro-Palestinian protestors reportedly blocked the doors of the synagogue. In one video, pro-Israel protestors attacked a photojournalist documenting the event. During a conversation with CNN’s Brianna Keilar and Boris Sanchez on Monday, Jones expressed how disheartened he was by the choice of the protestors to stage their protest at a center for the Jewish community. Jones, who did not appear aware of the reason for the protest, said he found nothing wrong with protesting a policy, but by targeting a place of worship, this was an attack on “the people”:

The protesters also accused Seinfeld of supporting “genocide” amid the Israel-Hamas war.

Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough went off on military bases named after Confederate “losers” during a rant in defense of MSNBC regular Reverend Al Sharpton Monday addressed to former President Donald Trump, who repeated his “Fort Al Sharpton” jibe during a weekend rally. The dig goes back to a 2020 clash, when the former president mocked those seeking to rename Fort Bragg, currently named after Confederate General Braxton Bragg. At the time, Trump joked that he’d name it after Sharpton, whose civil rights organization, the National Action Network, has pushed in the past for the renaming of forts that honor Confederate Army figures. The former president revived the name on Saturday to again poke fun at Sharpton, who last week also dismissed the idea that Trump’s presidency had helped the black community.

Phillippe Reines, former senior advisor to then State Secretary Hillary Clinton, quipped that if “really old” presidential candidates are a problem then “everyone is out of luck” no matter who wins the upcoming election and the parties “should not have nominated these two guys.” The comments came just days before the first debate between Republican nominee former President Donald Trump and Democratic President Joe Biden. Trump, along with other Republicans, has consistently depicted Biden as senile or in cognitive decline. However, liberal commentary has also recently shifted to focus on Trump’s viability, with focused criticism on his rambling style, verbal switches, and claims of memory lapses.

Delaware Democrat and Biden surrogate Chris Coons on Sunday was momentarily testy when anchor Shannon Bream spoke to him about crimes committed by people who are in the country illegally, an issue on which President Joe Biden has regularly faltered in polling. On the most recent edition of Fox News Sunday, Bream spoke with Coons at length on the subject of the southern border, a top campaign issue in 2024. After showing a clip from a Fox News interview with Gov. Wes Moore of Maryland, a Democrat, in which he lamented the murder of Rachel Morin as being a direct result of bad border policy, Bream asked Coons about why more can’t or hasn’t been done.

This weekend, he told a gathering of conservative Christians in Washington, DC, that he suggested starting a league where migrants would fight one another to UFC president Dana White,” Cabrera began, before rolling the clip:

Jackson, a former White House physician, suggested Biden will take “performance-enhancing drugs” ahead of his debate on Thursday with former President Donald Trump. Republicans have long cast Biden as old and doddering, if not senile, but the allies of the former president are now concerned they’ve set expectations too low for Biden. When the president has performed capably in the past – as he did at the State of the Union – conservatives have suggested Biden was “jacked up” on something. Meanwhile, Trump has suggested Biden will do cocaine before the debate.
