Trump’s Gag Order Partially Lifted By New York Judge — Now Free to Attack the Jury
Judge Juan Merchan, who presided over the hush money trial of former President Donald Trump, partially lifted the gag order against Trump on Tuesday.
While some restrictions remain in place, Trump is now allowed to publicly comment on witnesses and members of the jury. He is still not allowed to talk about the prosecutors or officers of the court. Trump’s lawyers pushed to strike down the gag order after the trial was over; Trump was convicted on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.
Trump was found in contempt of court for violating the gag order ten times. On those occasions, he either appeared on TV or posted on Truth Social to make veiled or blatant threats to several figures in the trial including Merchan, Michael Cohen, and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Trump was fined $10,000 for the violations.

Hugh Hewitt Defends CNN’s Tapper and Bash – But Says He’s ‘Worried About the Third Moderator’ Debate
Conservative pundit Hugh Hewitt bucked many of his right-wing colleagues by defending CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash from criticism ahead of Thursday’s presidential debate.
Tapper and Bash will moderate this cycle’s first debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. Conservatives have upped their attacks on the CNN hosts as the event draws nearer.
“I will say, I don’t share concerns about CNN or Jake and Dana,” Hewitt said on Tuesday’s edition of The Story on Fox News. “I worked with them on debates in 2015 and ’16 – four with Dana, two with Jake. And they’re professional.”

CNN’s Van Jones Calls Protest Outside Synagogue That Turned Violent a ‘Pogrom’
CNN’s Van Jones had harsh words for the pro-Palestine protestors who clashed outside a Los Angeles synagogue on Sunday, going so far as to call the demonstration a “pogrom” against Jewish people.
The protest was held to oppose a real estate event being held at the synagogue on Sunday by My Israel Home, a company that markets settlements in the West Bank. Pro-Israel counter-demonstrators showed up to oppose the protestors, leading to violent clashes between both sides. Pro-Palestinian protestors reportedly blocked the doors of the synagogue. In one video, pro-Israel protestors attacked a photojournalist documenting the event.
During a conversation with CNN’s Brianna Keilar and Boris Sanchez on Monday, Jones expressed how disheartened he was by the choice of the protestors to stage their protest at a center for the Jewish community. Jones, who did not appear aware of the reason for the protest, said he found nothing wrong with protesting a policy, but by targeting a place of worship, this was an attack on “the people”:

Andrew Weissmann Slams Judge Cannon’s ‘Bonkers’ Rulings: ‘She Does Not Have the Tools to Handle a Case That’s This Complicated’
MSNBC legal analyst and former federal prosecutor Andrew Weissmann took U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon to task over a series of rulings she has made in former President Donald Trump’s favor.
Cannon is presiding over Trump’s classified documents case in which Special Counsel Jack Smith alleges the former president willfully retained classified documents and obstructed the government’s attempts to retrieve them. The judge, who was appointed by Trump in 2020, has issued several decisions that have perplexed legal experts and prompted a pair of reversals by the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Weissmann appeared on Monday’s Deadline: White House on MSNBC, where guest host John Heilemann asked what Cannon’s deal is.

‘That Was So Good!’ The View Does Cartwheels Over CNN Dumping Trump Spox Mid-Interview
ABC’s The View was on top of a big media story that happened just hours before their own live broadcast on Monday, and the co-hosts were palpably gleeful.
Earlier on Monday, CNN’s Kasie Hunt cut off an interview with Karoline Leavitt, a spokesperson for former President Donald Trump, when the latter turned the conversation towards an attack on Hunt’s colleagues, CNN’s Dana Bash and Jake Tapper, who are moderating the first presidential debate. Hunt wouldn’t stand for the talking points and abruptly ended the interview.
After playing the moment, co-host Whoopi Goldberg had what can only be described as a Cheshire Cat grin on her face before finally saying, “That was so good!”

White House Spox Smacks Down Trump Claims On Abortion ‘After Birth’ At Briefing
‘That’s Not Abortion!’ White House Spox Smacks Down Trump Claims On Abortion ‘After Birth’ At Briefing
Director of the White House Gender Policy Council Jennifer Klein smacked down false claims from ex-President Donald Trump about President Joe Biden’s positions on abortion rights.
Trump and other Republicans have spent years telling the lie that Democrats favor the legalized killings of infants after they’re born, loosely based on then-Gov. Ralph Northam’s (D-VA) comments about medical decisions in catastrophic cases. They’ve also claimed Democrats support abortion right up until the “moment of birth.”
At a Zoom briefing on the anniversary of the Dobbs decision — and days before the earliest general election presidential debate ever — Mediaite asked Klein how President Biden will respond to those attacks:

‘The Math Is the Math’: CNN’s John Berman Calls Out Byron Donalds On Debt Numbers Under Biden and Trump
CNN’s John Berman talked to one of the rumored vice presidential contenders for former President Donald Trump on Monday and had to remind him about the ex-president’s record on growing the national debt.
Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) is one of the names being floated as a potential running mate for Trump, and he has made several press appearances to praise Trump (some of which have gone viral for the wrong reasons). When the subject of the national debt came up during his conversation with Berman, Donalds seemed to forget that Trump had a lot to do with the country’s multi-trillion-dollar deficit, even without accounting for the pandemic:

MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Asks Biden Spox If President’s Inner Circle is ‘Too Insular’ Because It’s ‘All White Men in Their 60s’
MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell asked a senior spokesperson for President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign whether it could be a problem that Biden’s closest circle of advisors are “all white men in their 60s.”
Biden-Harris campaign spokesperson Adrienne Elrod joined Mitchell on Monday ahead of Thursday’s CNN debate between the president and Donald Trump. At the end of the interview, Mitchell pointed to a New York Times profile by Katie Rogers and Michael D. Shear about Biden’s “brain trust,” which consists of former White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, longtime advisor Mike Donilon, and former Sen. Ted Kaufman (D-DE).
Mitchell asked Elrod how Biden would handle multiple issues at the debate, including concerns about inflation and the southern border, and she asked if his current team is “too insular” to properly prepare him.

Lara Trump Praises Trump for ‘Democratic’ Reversal of Roe v Wade on Fox & Friends
Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump praised her father-in-law, former President Donald Trump, for appointing the three Supreme Court Justices and paving the way for Roe v. Wade to be overturned — calling the decision “the most democratic thing.”
Tuesday marks two years since Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was handed down, which ended the federal right to an abortion, leaving states to make their own policies, including some that have total bans. In the time since public opinion — by a margin of two to one — has been in favor of abortion rights.
Lara Trump told Fox & Friends co-host Ainsley Earhardt that Dobbs was the “right decision,” giving Trump credit for the conservative supermajority on the highest court in the land:

The protesters also accused Seinfeld of supporting “genocide” amid the Israel-Hamas war.

Joe Scarborough Rants Against Military Bases Named After Confederate ‘Losers’ After Trump’s
Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough went off on military bases named after Confederate “losers” during a rant in defense of MSNBC regular Reverend Al Sharpton Monday addressed to former President Donald Trump, who repeated his “Fort Al Sharpton” jibe during a weekend rally.
The dig goes back to a 2020 clash, when the former president mocked those seeking to rename Fort Bragg, currently named after Confederate General Braxton Bragg. At the time, Trump joked that he’d name it after Sharpton, whose civil rights organization, the National Action Network, has pushed in the past for the renaming of forts that honor Confederate Army figures.
The former president revived the name on Saturday to again poke fun at Sharpton, who last week also dismissed the idea that Trump’s presidency had helped the black community.

Candidates Are A Problem ‘Everyone Is Out of Luck’ No Matter Who Wins Election
Phillippe Reines, former senior advisor to then State Secretary Hillary Clinton, quipped that if “really old” presidential candidates are a problem then “everyone is out of luck” no matter who wins the upcoming election and the parties “should not have nominated these two guys.”
The comments came just days before the first debate between Republican nominee former President Donald Trump and Democratic President Joe Biden.
Trump, along with other Republicans, has consistently depicted Biden as senile or in cognitive decline. However, liberal commentary has also recently shifted to focus on Trump’s viability, with focused criticism on his rambling style, verbal switches, and claims of memory lapses.

‘What’s Your Question, Shannon?’ Democratic Senator Gets Testy With Fox Anchor Over Crime and Border

On the most recent edition of Fox News Sunday, Bream spoke with Coons at length on the subject of the southern border, a top campaign issue in 2024.
After showing a clip from a Fox News interview with Gov. Wes Moore of Maryland, a Democrat, in which he lamented the murder of Rachel Morin as being a direct result of bad border policy, Bream asked Coons about why more can’t or hasn’t been done.

Ronny Jackson Demands Biden Get Tested for ‘Performance-Enhancing Drugs’ Before and After Debate
Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) is demanding that President Joe Biden take drug tests before and after this week’s debate to detect the presence of any unusual substances.
Jackson, a former White House physician, suggested Biden will take “performance-enhancing drugs” ahead of his debate on Thursday with former President Donald Trump. Republicans have long cast Biden as old and doddering, if not senile, but the allies of the former president are now concerned they’ve set expectations too low for Biden. When the president has performed capably in the past – as he did at the State of the Union – conservatives have suggested Biden was “jacked up” on something. Meanwhile, Trump has suggested Biden will do cocaine before the debate.
