Church • Season 2 • Episode 4
After an agonizing week in Lockup, facing the possibility of Life without Parole, and an unquestionable miracle from Jesus, James gets his first taste of Church in Prison. He is still skeptical, but ready to give it a try. In this episode he explains “Free World Preachers” and how they all seemed to be saying something different, the Preacher that “would slap you back”, Prison Jesus Followers, special gifts that Christmas of 1996, and his take on why the “Wise Men” shouldn’t be in the Nativity Scene…

Saved • Season 2 • Episode 2
The thing James thought could never happen to him (because he didn’t believe in any of that stuff) happened in a very real and radical way… Something on the inside of him that had been dead came to life. It was authentic, but his mind struggled with all of it, and he was fully convinced that surely Jesus would never ask him to go to Church. Tune in for more.

Leaving B.C.I. • Season 1 • Episode 10
This is the final episode in Season 1! James was finally back in D-Dorm and began attending N.A. as a requirement to live in The Graduate Section. He found purpose and joy in his job assignment as the Butcher in the main kitchen, and he was 168 days to his E.O.S. (end of sentence) in the State of Florida. He was excited to be going home, and was busy plotting his next move… Would he really go to Miami and start a restaurant with his friend Valenza? Or would he go back to the last place of stability he remembered… His Granny’s house in Atlanta? He was torn, but he finally made a decision… then a loudspeaker call that filled the compound derailed everything… “INMATE JONES #566401 REPORT TO CLASSIFICATION IMMEDIATELY!”

Wild Wild West • Season 1 • Episode 9
After a year and a half in the Delta Dorm (which was the Cadillac of spaces at B.C.I.) James found himself in trouble once again because of his actions… He was heading to “real” Prison because he was selfish, rebellious, and ever intent on getting what he wanted… Up to this time his Prison experience had been very comfortable, but that was all about to change…

Drug Program • Season 1 • Episode 8
Once James finished with Orientation at B.C.I. the next stage was to enter a Court-Ordered Drug Program… It was mostly a joke and he learned that the inmates who had been convicted of crimes weren’t the only criminals at Brevard Correctional Institution.

Brevard Correctional Institution • Season 1 • Episode 7
After a year and a half James was finally heading to his Permanent Camp… Brevard Correctional Institution would be his home for the next 3+ years. He was discouraged to be 10 hours from home and not sure what to expect. On the way there, they passed Disney World and it was very depressing for him to see it from the windows of a D.O.C. Bus…

Prison • Season 1 • Episode 6
James had no idea where he was going… he only knew it was The North Florida Reception Center for the Department of Corrections…It was literally in the middle of nowhere, and with every step it seemed he was getting further away from home. They pulled through the gates to Lake Butler just as the sun was starting to rise…it was a cold, scary day. After pulling into a locked bay, they had them all stand in line, strip butt naked, and listen to their instructions…they would walk around naked for the next 4 hours. It was a stark wakeup for James that he no longer belonged to himself or his family. They let him know that he was property of D.O.C. Lake Butler was similar to Boot Camp for the Military. They sent you here to see what you were made of, to classify you for your permanent camp, and to break you down if you possessed any resistance to their authority. You walked when they said walk, used the bathroom, showered, ate meals, etc. when they said so… In his first week, there were 30 of them going up two flights of stairs, and the officer barked an order “I don’t want to hear one sound as you walk up these steps!” … it was difficult to do, and they had to start over a few times, but eventually they learned to walk like their feet were made of cotton… Haley was shocked at some of the stories, especially some of the ways they broke James down. To say James was scared would be an understatement… he was terrified at what would happen to him at Lake Butler. He had heard the stories, and even witnessed some stuff with his own eyes that should rehabilitate even the hardest criminal… he kept his head down and did what they asked him to do, even if it was a silly thing like “Take this broom and sweep the sun off that sidewalk” … Fortunately, James made it through without any incidents and would be heading to his permanent camp. The awkward blue clothes would be his wardrobe for the next few years…

Prison Prep • Season 1 • Episode 5
James arrived at The Bay County Jail (Panama City) around Thanksgiving of 1993. Although the conditions were better than the Jail in Monticello, he said it was very depressing to be overlooking the Bay and seeing all the folks on Vacation. They put him on the top floor with the worst of the worst criminals, and those guys prepped James for Prison. James says most of the guys were genuinely concerned for his well being, and worried that he wouldn’t survive. They taught him all the strategies to make it on the inside. Thankfully, there was a group of “Old Timer’s” that counseled him day after day for hours on end to get him ready. In this episode James explains to Haley what they taught him to do, not to do, and how important it was to choose his words carefully because in there, different words meant different things. Haley was especially amused by the word “Boy” in Prison. They gave him wisdom and practical advice that would help him survive what was coming next. In this episode he explains it all in great detail to Haley.

James also talks about turning 21 in Jail, his first Thanksgiving and Christmas, The Blizzard of 1993, and his first fight…
