The official Twitter account of Qatar World Cup left legendary Brazil player Cafu red-faced by attributing a shocking tournament prediction to him.
Late on Sunday, 'Road to 2022', the official Twitter account of the event, tweeted a pair of images claiming to be the former World Cup winner's group and knockout predictions for the World Cup starting November 20.
Not only was Cafu's prediction favouring an Argentina triumph, it had Brazil seeing a round-of-16 exit, which if happens will be the Selecao's worst performance since 1990.
Within 20 minutes of tweeting, the strange verdict raised several eyebrows. Soon, it was deleted. But it had remained longer enough online to be screenshotted and debated.
A screenshot of the initial prediction by Cafu tweeted by the Qatar World Cup's official handle showing an Argentina win.
Fresh prediction appears
Within minutes, the official handle came up with a fresh prediction attributed to Cafu. This time, the prediction was more or less expected of Brazil's most capped international: A Brazil win.
Cafu has said Brazil will beat France in the final. He also expects the dream Brazil-Argentina showdown to take place, in the semifinals.
But even the revised prediction is not devoid of a little mischief as Cafu expects one of the favourites, England to go home early; to be knocked out by hosts Qatar in the round-of-16.
Regarded as one of the greatest full-backs of his generation, Cafu featured in four world cups, between 1994 and 2006. He lifted the World Cup in 2002.

Dams burst in Brazil as deadly flooding continues - BBC News
After weeks of heavy rain overwhelming already swollen rivers, two dams in Brazil's Bahia state burst and flooded surrounding towns.
In the town of Itabuna, residents could be seen using inflatable rafts and canoes to deliver supplies to neighbours.
The rains have caused at least 18 deaths in Bahia since the beginning of November and thousands of people have been moved from some of the 67 towns facing further flooding.

President Bolsonaro supporters make Nazi salute in election loss rallies
The German ambassador to Brazil condemned what he called the "shocking" use of "Nazi symbols" at protests in favour of defeated hard-Right president Jair Bolsonaro.
In videos that surfaced earlier this week, demonstrators in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina can be seen making what appears to be a Nazi salute, raising their outstretched right arms during the Brazilian national anthem.
Supporters of Mr Bolsonaro have held rallies every day since the president lost Sunday's election to leftist figurehead Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
They call for a military coup to annul the election result and keep Mr Bolsonaro—who has yet to publicly concede defeat—in power.
"The use of Nazi and fascist symbols by clearly far-Right 'protesters' is profoundly shocking. Advocating Nazism is a crime," tweeted Heiko Thoms, Germany's ambassador to Brazil.
"This is not a matter of freedom of expression," he added. "This gesture disrespects the memory of the victims of Nazism and the horrors it caused."

Brazil Truckers Block Roads to Protest Bolsonaro Election Loss
Protests by backers of Jair Bolsonaro, led by truck drivers, have spread across the country as the Brazilian president remains silent over his loss in Sunday’s election, so far refusing to concede defeat to his foe Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
Supporters of the firebrand president, unhappy with the election result, blocked roads across 23 states and the capital and restricted access to Sao Paulo international airport late Monday evening, forcing the cancellation of some flights. Over 300 federal highways were partially or fully blocked at one point, according to the police.
Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who also oversaw the electoral court for the election process, ordered the federal highway police to clear the protests, warning of fines reaching 100,000 reais ($19,306) per hour per vehicle and that the agency’s director could be sidelined if he didn’t comply.
As of Tuesday morning, some 289 protests continued to block the free circulation of traffic, down from a maximum of 342, O Estado de S. Paulo reported. While Sao Paulo’s Guarulhos airport showed flights were departing normally from its multiple terminals, a message posted to its Twitter account said that access was still partially obstructed due to protests.
