Stare per + infinito e stare + gerundio. Theory, practical examples and exercises with solutions.
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
#stareper+infinito
#stare+gerundio
In the Italian language, there are two constructions using the verb "stare": "stare per + infinitive verb" and "stare + gerund." Although both of these constructions are based on the verb "stare," they have slightly different meanings and are used in different contexts.
The construction "stare per + verb in the infinitive" is used to express the imminence of an action or event. In other words, it indicates that something is about to happen or that one is about to do something. For example, "I am about to eat" means that I am about to eat or about to eat. Similarly, "We are about to leave" indicates that we are about to leave and that action is imminent.
On the other hand, the construction "stand + gerund" is used to indicate the action taking place at the time of speaking. In other words, it indicates that something is being done at that very moment. For example, "I am eating" means that I am eating at that moment and that action is taking place. Similarly, "We are walking" indicates that you are walking at that moment and that the action is currently taking place.
Importantly, the construction "stare + gerund" can also be used to indicate a planned or anticipated future action, such as "I am studying for tomorrow's exam." In this case, the construction "stare + gerund" indicates the future action, but the particle "for" is omitted.
In summary, the difference between the two constructions lies in the fact that "stare per + verb in the infinitive" indicates an action that is imminent or about to happen, while "stare + gerund" indicates an action that is in progress at the time of speaking. However, it is important to note that these constructions can also be used in different contexts depending on the context and meaning being expressed.

"Master the Italian Past Perfect vs. Imperfect like a native!"
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
Hello everyone!!!
Are you ready to learn all about the difference between the near past and the imperfect? In this article, I will explain everything you need to know about these two verb forms. We will learn when to use the past perfect and when to use the imperfect, see the general rules and exceptions, and use many examples to make everything clearer and more understandable.
The past perfect
Let's start with the past perfect tense. This verbal form is used to talk about actions that were completed at a specific time in the past. It is the most common verbal form for talking about past events. The past perfect is constructed with the auxiliary "to have" or "to be" in the present indicative tense, followed by the past participle of the verb.
Examples:
I had pizza for lunch.
We arrived in Rome last night.
Did you see Tarantino's new movie?
The imperfect
Let us now turn to the imperfect. This verbal form is used to describe a past action that was prolonged in time or repeated in a habitual way. The imperfect is constructed by adding the correct desinences to the verb root.
Examples:
As a child, I always played with my friends.
Last week, I was reading a very interesting book.
When I was young, I studied every day to become a lawyer.
The difference between the near past and the imperfect.
Now that we have seen the definitions and examples of the two verb tenses, let's move on to see when it is correct to use the past perfect and when the imperfect.
The past perfect is used when you want to indicate a completed action that took place at a specific time in the past. For example, "Yesterday I ate a pizza" indicates that the action of eating the pizza was completed at a specific time in the past, that is, yesterday.
The imperfect, on the other hand, is used to describe a past action that was prolonged in time or repeated in a habitual way. For example, "As a child, I always played with my friends" indicates that the action of playing with friends was repeated habitually over an extended period of time, i.e., during childhood.
Exceptions
As always, there are some exceptions to the general rules. In some cases, the near past and the imperfect can be interchangeable. For example, "Yesterday I was watching a movie" and "Yesterday I watched a movie" are both correct and mean the same thing.
In this case, the past perfect is used to describe actions that were performed once and completed at a specific time in the past. On the other hand, the imperfect is used to describe actions that were repeated in the past or to describe the background of a past story.
For example, if we wanted to say "I had a pizza yesterday," I would use the past perfect because it is a specific action that was completed at a specific time in the past. On the other hand, if we wanted to say "as a child I ate pizza every Saturday night," I would use the imperfect because it is an action that was regularly repeated in the past.
In addition to describing specific, repeated actions, the past perfect and the imperfect can also be used to describe the duration of actions in the past. The near past is used to describe actions that lasted for a short period of time in the past, while the imperfect is used to describe actions that lasted for a long period of time.
For example, if we wanted to say "I watched a movie last night," I would use the past perfect because the action of watching the movie was completed over a short period of time in the past. On the other hand, if we wanted to say "I always watched movies when I was young," I would use the imperfect because the action of watching movies occurred over a long period of time in the past.
In addition, the near past and the imperfect can also be used together to describe actions in the past. In this case, the past perfect is used to describe specific actions that were completed in the past, while the imperfect is used to describe the background or circumstances of the actions.
For example, if we wanted to say "while watching the movie, I ate a pizza," I would use the past perfect to describe the specific action of eating the pizza and the imperfect to describe the background of the action, that is, the fact that I was watching a movie.
In general, the choice between the past perfect and the imperfect depends on the context and the specific use in the sentence. Practicing the use of both verb tenses can help you improve your ability to speak and write in Italian.

"Learn how to master the concordance of Italian verb tenses with these simple examples!"
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
The concordance of the tenses of Italian verbs.
The concordance of the tenses of Italian verbs is a fundamental aspect of Italian grammar. When writing or speaking, it is important that verbs are conjugated in the correct tense and that their form matches that of the subjects to which they refer.
In Italian, there are three main tenses: present, past and future. Each can be conjugated in different ways depending on the verbal mode and the type of verb used. For example, the present tense can be conjugated in the indicative, subjunctive, conditional, imperative and infinitive modes. Each verbal mode has its own specific function and is used in certain contexts.
The concordance of tenses is important because it allows us to express the temporal relationships between two or more events. In other words, when talking about a past event, the verb must be conjugated in the past tense; when talking about a future event, the verb must be conjugated in the future tense, and so on. In this way, confusion is avoided and clear and precise communication is ensured.
It is also important to take into account the person to whom the verb refers. In Italian, verbs are conjugated according to person (I, you, he/she, we, you, they/they) and number (singular or plural).
For example, if the subject is plural, the verb must be conjugated plural.
The concordance of tenses can be complicated for those studying Italian as a foreign language, especially since in some languages there is no concordance of verb tenses. However, with a little practice and attention, it is possible to learn how to use Italian verbs in the correct way.
Grammar and text comprehension exercises can be used to facilitate learning. In addition, it is important to read and listen to material in Italian to become familiar with the different verb forms and their uses.
So let's look at some examples to better understand this concept.
Present indicative
The present indicative is the most common verbal tense in Italian and is used to describe present actions or habits.
Example: I eat pizza every Friday.
In this case, the verb "to eat" is in the present indicative tense and agrees with the subject "I."
Past tense
The past perfect is used to describe an action performed in the past that has a relationship to the present.
Example: I had pizza with my friends yesterday.
In this case, the verb "eat" is in the past tense and agrees with the subject "I."
Imperfect
The imperfect is used to describe a past action that took place continuously in the past.
Example: When I was a child, I ate pizza every day.
In this case, the verb "to eat" is in the imperfect and agrees with the subject "I."
Past perfect tense
The present perfect tense is used to describe a past action that occurred before another past action.
Example: When I arrived, I had already eaten pizza.
In this case, the verb "to eat" is in the near past tense and agrees with the subject "I."
Future simple
The future simple is used to describe an action that will occur in the future.
Example: Tomorrow I will eat pizza with my friends.
In this case, the verb "eat" is in the simple future and agrees with the subject "I."
Present conditional
The present conditional is used to describe an action that would be possible if a certain condition occurred.
Example: If I had pizza, I would eat it right away.
In this case, the verb "to eat" is in the present conditional tense and agrees with the subject "I."
In conclusion, agreeing the tenses of Italian verbs is an important aspect to consider in order to construct correct and flowing sentences. Always remember to make the verb agree with the verbal tense and the verbal mode of the main sentence.

In italiano, esistono tre tempi principali: presente, passato e futuro.

"Did you know that you use pronominal and reflexive verbs incorrectly? Find out how to avoid it.
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
The differences between reflexive verbs and pronominal verbs.
Reflexive verbs and pronominal verbs are often confused and used interchangeably, but there are actually some important differences between the two.
First, reflexive verbs are a category of verbs that require the use of a reflexive pronoun to indicate that the action is performed by the subject on itself.
For example, "I wash myself" means that I am washing myself.
Reflexive verbs are formed by adding the reflexive pronoun to the base verb.
For example, "to wash" becomes "to wash oneself" when used as a reflexive verb.
On the other hand, pronominal verbs are a category of verbs that require the use of a reflexive pronoun but have a different meaning from non-pronominal verbs.
For example, the verb "to go" means "to move from one place to another" when used without the reflexive pronoun, but means "to agree" when used with the reflexive pronoun "to go."
In this case, "to leave" means "to go away" or "to go away from someone or something."
In addition, pronominal verbs can be used in many verb forms, such as the infinitive, gerund, past participle, etc., while reflexive verbs can only be used in certain verb forms, such as the present tense, the near past, the imperfect, etc.
Another difference between reflexive verbs and pronominal verbs is that reflexive verbs require the reflexive pronoun to indicate that the action is performed by the subject on itself, while pronominal verbs require the reflexive pronoun to indicate a change of state or passive form.
For example, "to dress" means "to put on clothes" while "to be dressed" means "to have clothes on."
In summary, reflexive verbs require the use of the reflexive pronoun to indicate that the action is performed by the subject on itself, while pronominal verbs require the reflexive pronoun to indicate a change of state or passive form.
In addition, pronominal verbs can have different meanings from non-pronominal verbs and can be used in many different verb forms.
Knowing the difference between the two types of verbs can help you avoid mistakes and misunderstandings when communicating in Italian.

"Learn pronominal verbs in 5 minutes and boost your confidence in speaking Italian"
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
Pronominal verbs: a comprehensive guide to understanding this particular type of verb.
Pronominal verbs are a particular type of verb that often causes confusion and difficulty in understanding for those studying the Italian language. In this article, we will make a complete guide to pronominal verbs, explaining what they are, how they work, and how they can be used correctly in written and spoken communication.
What is a pronominal verb?
A pronominal verb is a verb that requires the use of a reflexive pronoun (mi, ti, si, ci, vi) to indicate that the action exerted by the verb is directed at the subject itself. For example, the verb "to wash oneself" requires the use of the reflexive pronoun "yes" to indicate that the subject is washing itself. Other examples of pronominal verbs are "to dress," "to comb" and "to wake up."
How do pronominal verbs work? Pronominal verbs are formed by the base verb (e.g., "wash") and the reflexive pronoun (e.g., "yes"). The reflexive pronoun changes depending on the subject of the verb, as shown in the following table:
Reflexive pronoun Subject
Me I
You
Yes He/She
There We
Vi You
Yes Them
In addition, pronominal verbs can be used in different verb forms, such as the imperfect, the near past, and the future. For example, the verb "to wash" can be conjugated as follows:
Verb tense Conjugation
Present I wash myself, you wash yourself, we wash ourselves, you wash yourself, they wash themselves
Imperfect I washed myself, you washed yourself, we washed ourselves, you washed yourselves, they washed themselves
Next Past I washed myself, you washed yourself, he washed himself, we washed ourselves, you washed yourselves, they washed themselves
Future I will wash myself, you will wash yourself, we will wash ourselves, you will wash yourself, they will wash themselves
How to use pronominal verbs?
Pronoun verbs are commonly used in written and spoken communication in Italian. They are often used to express actions that the subject performs on himself, such as "to wash," "to dress," and "to comb." They can also be used idiomatically, such as "arrabbiarsi" (meaning to become angry) and "svegliarsi" (meaning to wake up).
However, it is important to note that the use of pronominal verbs can vary depending on the context and style of communication. For example, in formal texts such as letters and official documents, it is preferable to use non-pronominal verbs to avoid sounding too colloquial.
In addition, it is important to know the rules of pronominal verb usage. For example, the verb "to wash" cannot be used in the passive form (such as "to be washed") because it requires the action of the subject on itself. Also, pronominal verbs cannot be used with other reflexive pronouns, such as "I am washed" (which would be incorrect) instead of "I wash myself."
Another important rule to keep in mind is that some verbs can be used both with and without the reflexive pronoun, but with slightly different meanings. For example, the verb "to dress" means "to wear" when used without the reflexive pronoun, but means "to dress" when used with the reflexive pronoun. Similarly, the verb "get up" means "to get someone else up" without the reflexive pronoun, but means "to get up from sitting or lying down" when used with the reflexive pronoun.
In general, the use of pronominal verbs is important for correct and effective communication in Italian. Knowing the rules of usage and the various verb forms of pronominal verbs can help avoid errors and misunderstandings in communication.
In summary, pronominal verbs are a special type of verb that requires the use of a reflexive pronoun to indicate that the action is addressed to the subject itself. They are commonly used in written and spoken communication in Italian, but it is important to know the rules of usage and the various verb forms to avoid mistakes and misunderstandings.
With this comprehensive guide to pronominal verbs, we hope to have provided readers with a useful resource to improve their knowledge of the Italian language.

"Sapevi che usi i verbi pronominali e riflessivi in modo sbagliato? Scopri come evitarlo.

#verbipronominali
#verbiriflessivi

Come funzionano i verbi pronominali? I verbi pronominali sono formati dal verbo base (ad esempio, "lavare") e dal pronome riflessivo (ad esempio, "si").
Il pronome riflessivo cambia a seconda del soggetto del verbo.
Inoltre, i verbi pronominali possono essere usati in diverse forme verbali, come l'imperfetto, il passato prossimo e il futuro.
Come usare i verbi pronominali?

#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
Ciao a tutti!
Esempi:
Ho mangiato una pizza per pranzo.
Siamo arrivati a Roma ieri sera.
Hai visto il nuovo film di Tarantino?
L'imperfetto
Passiamo ora all'imperfetto.

Articulated prepositions in Italian. Easy explanations with examples.
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.

ITALIAN WINES : 2) TUSCANY. Discovering Italian wines region by region.
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
#vini.italiani
#vini.italiani.toscana
Welcome to the second installment of the series "Italian Wines," in which we will discover Tuscany, one of the most famous Italian regions for the production of high quality wines. We will immerse ourselves in the history, territory and traditions that characterize this land, tasting the most representative wines and learning about them in detail.
Tuscany is one of the best-known Italian regions in the world for the production of high-quality wines. Located in central Italy, Tuscany covers more than 23,000 square kilometers and is one of the most fascinating regions in the country. In this region, wine production is a true art, passed down from generation to generation. Tuscany's winemaking history dates back to the time of the Etruscans, an ancient Italic people who developed vine cultivation and wine production. Tuscany then continued to develop its wine production during the Roman Empire and throughout the Middle Ages, until it became one of the most important wine regions in the world.
Wine production in Tuscany is particularly concentrated in the hills stretching between Florence, Siena and Arezzo, where some of the world's finest grapes are grown. Among the most famous grape varieties are Sangiovese, Vernaccia, Trebbiano and Chianti, which is the region's flagship wine. Each territory in Tuscany then has its own peculiarities, which are reflected in the wines produced.
Tasting Tuscan wines represents a unique experience that involves all the senses. The wines of Tuscany are characterized by a wide variety of aromas and flavors, which vary according to the area of production and the type of grapes used. Tuscan wines are able to satisfy all palates, from the most demanding to lovers of tradition.
But now it is time to discover the most representative Tuscan wines. Let's start with Sangiovese, a grape variety that represents the true soul of Tuscany. Sangiovese is used to produce some of the world's finest wines, such as Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti Classico and Morellino di Scansano. Brunello di Montalcino, in particular, represents one of the most famous and internationally appreciated Italian wines, thanks to its elegance, complexity and longevity.
Another very important grape variety for the production of Tuscan wines is Vernaccia, used to produce the famous Vernaccia di San Gimignano. This dry white wine is characterized by an intense aroma and a fresh, fruity flavor, making it perfect to pair with fish and shellfish dishes.
Let us now turn to Trebbiano, used to produce Vin Santo, a sweet wine that represents the Tuscan tradition par excellence. Vin Santo is produced through a long process of drying the grapes, which gives the wine an intense and enveloping flavor, perfect to accompany desserts.
Then we cannot forget Chianti, the symbolic wine of Tuscany, produced with at least 80 percent Sangiovese grapes and the rest of other local varieties. Chianti is a versatile wine, suitable for accompanying meat dishes, cheeses and cured meats.
Finally, we cannot fail to mention Supertuscan, a wine that represents the excellence of Tuscan wine production. Supertuscans are high-quality wines made from grapes of international varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and with the use of state-of-the-art winemaking techniques. Supertuscans are complex and elegant wines, perfect for an important evening or a special gift.
We have come to the end of our visit to Tuscany, one of the Italian regions most famous for producing high quality wines. We discovered the history, territory and traditions that characterize this land, tasting the most representative wines and learning about them in detail. I hope this experience made you appreciate even more the beauty and richness of the world of Italian wines.
I look forward to the next installment of "I Vini Italiani," in which we will discover another wine region of excellence.
Thank you for following along and see you again!

Benvenuti nel mio canale. Nel video di oggi, esploreremo l'uso della particella pronominale NE in italiano. Se sei interessato all'apprendimento delle lingue o sei curioso su come funzionano le lingue, allora resta con me!
La particella pronominale NE è una delle particelle più versatili e comunemente usate in italiano. In inglese, può essere tradotta come "of it", "of them", "from it", "from them", "about it", "about them", "some" o "any".

"Ti ho comprato i biglietti?" → "Te li ho comprati?"

"Gli ho regalato il libro?" → "Gliel'ho regalato?"
"Ci" + "lo/la/li/le"
"Ci ha portato la torta?" → "Ce l'ha portata?"
"Vi" + "lo/la/li/le"

"Mi" + "ne"
"Mi hai dato un po' di pane?" → "Me ne hai dato un po'?"
"Ti" + "ne"
"Ti hanno parlato del film?" → "Te ne hanno parlato?"

"Unlock the Secrets of Italian Politeness: Using Direct and Indirect Pronouns Like a Native Speaker"
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
La forma di cortesia in italiano è spesso usata per mostrare rispetto verso gli altri ed è un aspetto importante della lingua e della cultura italiana. In questo video ci concentreremo sull'uso della forma educata con i pronomi diretti e indiretti.
Iniziamo con i pronomi diretti. I pronomi diretti sostituiscono l'oggetto della frase e si collocano prima del verbo. Quando si usa la forma educata, si usa il pronome di terza persona singolare "Le" invece di "Ti". Ad esempio:
"Posso aiutarti?" diventa "Posso aiutarla?". (Posso aiutarti? - forma educata)
Passiamo ora ai pronomi indiretti. I pronomi indiretti sostituiscono l'oggetto indiretto della frase e si collocano prima del verbo. Quando si usa la forma educata, si usa il pronome di terza persona singolare "Le" invece di "Ti". Ad esempio:
"Ti ho mandato una mail" diventa "Le ho mandato una mail" (forma educata).
È importante notare che quando si usano i pronomi indiretti, si cambia anche la preposizione usata. Invece di "a te", si usa "a Lei". Ad esempio:
"Ti ho telefonato" diventa "Le ho telefonato" (forma educata).
In sintesi, quando si usa la forma educata con i pronomi diretti e indiretti, si usa il pronome di terza persona singolare "Le" invece di "Ti" e si cambia la preposizione usata con i pronomi indiretti da "a te" a "a Lei".
Speriamo che questa spiegazione vi abbia aiutato a capire l'uso della forma educata con i pronomi diretti e indiretti in italiano. Grazie per averci seguito!

The polite form in Italian is often used to show respect towards others, and it's an important aspect of Italian language and culture. In this video, we'll focus on the use of the polite form with direct and indirect pronouns.
First, let's start with direct pronouns. Direct pronouns replace the object of the sentence and are placed before the verb. When using the polite form, you would use the third person singular pronoun "Le" instead of "Ti." For example:
"Posso aiutarti?" (Can I help you?) becomes "Posso aiutarla?" (Can I help you? - polite form)
Now, let's move on to indirect pronouns. Indirect pronouns replace the indirect object of the sentence and are placed before the verb. When using the polite form, you would use the third person singular pronoun "Le" instead of "Ti." For example:
"Ti ho mandato una mail" (I sent you an email) becomes "Le ho mandato una mail" (I sent you an email - polite form)
It's important to note that when using indirect pronouns, you would also change the preposition used. Instead of "a te," you would use "a Lei." For example:
"Ti ho telefonato" (I called you) becomes "Le ho telefonato" (I called you - polite form)
In summary, when using the polite form with direct and indirect pronouns, you would use the third person singular pronoun "Le" instead of "Ti" and change the preposition used with indirect pronouns from "a te" to "a Lei."
We hope this explanation helped you understand the use of polite form with direct and indirect pronouns in Italian. Thank you for watching!

"Unlock the Secret to Italian Possessive Pronouns - Boost Your Fluency Today!"
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
Hey there, welcome back to our YouTube channel! Today, we're going to dive into the world of Italian pronouns with a focus on pronomi possessivi. If you've ever struggled to understand possessive pronouns in Italian, then this video is perfect for you! By the end of this video, you'll have a solid grasp on the concept and be able to use it confidently in your Italian language studies.
First, let's start with the basics. Possessive pronouns are words that show ownership or possession. They indicate who owns or possesses something in relation to the person or people being referred to. In Italian, there are three types of possessive pronouns: il mio, la mia, and i miei.
Il mio is used to indicate that something belongs to "me" in the singular form. For example, "il mio libro" means "my book" in English.
La mia is used to indicate that something belongs to "me" in the feminine singular form. For example, "la mia borsa" means "my bag" in English.
I miei is used to indicate that something belongs to "me" in the plural form. For example, "i miei libri" means "my books" in English.
It's important to note that possessive pronouns must agree in gender and number with the noun they are modifying. This means that if the noun is feminine and singular, you would use la mia instead of il mio.
That's it for today's video!
We hope this breakdown of pronomi possessivi helped you understand the concept better. Be sure to practice using possessive pronouns in your Italian studies to get more comfortable with them. Welcome to my channel! In this video, we will be discussing Italian indirect pronouns and how to use them correctly. Indirect pronouns are essential in Italian, and they can be tricky to understand and use correctly. But don't worry, in this video, we will cover all the theory behind indirect pronouns and provide plenty of examples to help you master their usage.
What are indirect pronouns? Indirect pronouns replace an indirect object in a sentence, which is a noun that is affected by the action of the verb indirectly.
How do we use indirect pronouns? Indirect pronouns can be placed before the verb, attached to the end of an infinitive, or attached to the end of a gerund. For example: "Gli parlo" (I talk to him), "Voglio parlargli" (I want to talk to him), "Sto parlandogli" (I am talking to him).
Which indirect pronouns do we use in Italian? The most common Italian indirect pronouns are "mi", "ti", "gli", "le", "ci", and "vi". Each one corresponds to a specific person or group of people.
Examples: Let's take a look at some examples to better understand the usage of indirect pronouns in Italian. For instance, "Mando una lettera a Maria" (I send a letter to Maria) becomes "Le mando una lettera" (I send her a letter) when using an indirect pronoun.

IL PASSATO REMOTO
Il “passato remoto” indica un’azione passata, che è avvenuta in un passato lontano e che è completamente finita.
(È il tempo utilizzato solitamente anche per raccontare fiabe, leggende e racconti, così come per descrivere fatti avvenuti nella Storia).
Nella lingua attuale, il passato remoto viene molto spesso sostituito dal passato prossimo.
• L’anno scorso andò negli Stati Uniti. (passato remoto)
• L’anno scorso è andato negli Stati Uniti. (passato prossimo)
