Do you know the differences, in Italian, between adverbs, adjectives, prepositions, conjunctions?
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
“Come sta tua mamma?”

Do you know the difference between the adverb MENTRE and the improper preposition DURANTE?
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
DURANTE e MENTRE (La differenza)
MENTRE e DURANTE sono due parole con lo stesso significato.
Quindi possiamo usarle in modo indifferente?
La risposta è NO!!
While and during are two words that can be used similarly but have different meanings.
While is an adverb of time indicating that two actions occur simultaneously but distinctly. For example, "I was reading a book while my sister was watching television."
During is a preposition indicating that one action takes place concurrently with another, but not necessarily distinctly. For example, "I drank a glass of water during the meeting."
However, the word "during" can also be misused as an adverb of time, but this usage is grammatically incorrect. For example, "I drank a glass of water during the meeting." In this case, it would be correct to use the word "while" instead of "during."

"Magari o Forse? Here's how to choose the right adverb." Italian for foreigners
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
MAGARI
a) Esclamazione – viene usata da sola nelle risposte o anteposta per rinforzare una frase che esprime un augurio, usata con il verbo al congiuntivo.
Esprime auspicio, desiderio o rimpianto per qualcuno o qualcosa:
– Allora, andiamo domani al cinema?
– Magari! (Magari potessi venire!), ma devo studiare per l’esame di storia che si terrà lunedì mattina.
– Ti piacerebbe venire in Italia con me il mese prossimo?
– Magari!
- Magari potessi venire con te!
– Quindi lui ti manca così tanto?
– Tantissimo. Magari lo potessi rivedere.
– Magari fossi ricca!
*Magari potessi prendermi un anno di vacanza!
b) Avverbio
1 - Piuttosto, perfino, addirittura; introduce una frase che ha preferenza rispetto a un’altra frase, introdotta generalmente da “ma” (coordinata avversativa):
– Che cosa farai dei libri del tuo ex?
– Magari li butterò nella spazzatura, ma non glieli restituirò!
– Adesso come farai a vivere?
– Magari vado a chiedere l’elemosina, ma a lei i soldi non li chiederò.
2 - Anche se, con valore concessivo:
– Ci compreremo una casa nuova, magari (anche se) a rate.
3 - probabilmente, con valore frasale:
– Perché Claudio non ti ha rivolto la parola alla festa?
– Che ne so! Magari (probabilmente) si è offeso.
– Quando ci sentiamo?
– Magari (forse) ti chiamo domani mattina.
4 - Eventualmente, semmai:
– Quanti libri hai comprato ieri?
– Forse una decina.
MAYBE
(a) Exclamation-it is used alone in responses or placed before to reinforce a sentence expressing a wish, used with the verb in the subjunctive.
It expresses wish, desire or regret for someone or something:
- So, shall we go to the movies tomorrow?
- I wish I could (I wish I could come!), but I have to study for my history exam on Monday morning.
- Would you like to come to Italy with me next month?
- I wish I could!
- I wish I could come with you!
- So you miss him that much?
- So much. I wish I could see him again.
- I wish I was rich!
*Maybe I could take a year's vacation!
(b) Adverb
1 - Rather, even, even; introduces a sentence that has preference over another sentence, usually introduced by "but" (adversative coordinate):
- What will you do with your ex's books?
- Maybe I'll throw them in the trash, but I won't give them back to him!
- How are you going to live now?
- Maybe I'll go begging, but I won't ask her for money.
2 - Although, with concessive value:
- We'll buy a new house, maybe (though) in installments.
3 - Probably, with phrasal value:
- Why didn't Claudio talk to you at the party?
- What do I know. Maybe (probably) he was offended.
- When do we talk?
- Maybe (probably) I'll call you in the morning.
4 - Eventually, if anything:
- We'll come to your place next weekend, OK?
- Maybe call me before you come.
MAYBE
(a) Probably, who knows, may be (expresses uncertainty), is opposed to certainly, definitely:
- Sorry I didn't listen to you last night, maybe (maybe) you were right.
Its meaning is projected on the whole sentence even when it is put at the end:
- Do you know where Carlo is? - He is in Paris, maybe.
(b) Indicates eventuality:
- Are you leaving next Saturday? - Maybe.
(c) Followed by a numeral equals approximately, roughly:
- How many people did you invite to your birthday party?
- Maybe I invited 40; I invited 40 people.
- How many books did you buy yesterday?
- Maybe about 10.

"Ormai o adesso? Here's how to choose the right adverb."
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
The adverbs "by now" and "now" are often used interchangeably in the Italian language, but they actually have different meanings that need to be understood to avoid misuse. In this article we will explore the differences between the two adverbs, with practical examples showing their correct usage.
By now indicates the attainment of a state or situation that has developed over time and has resulted in a change from the past. It is mainly used to indicate that a situation has changed permanently, irreversibly. Let's look at some examples:
It is now too late to save the project.
By now it has been many years since we last saw each other.
By now we are used to the current situation.
In all these cases, "by now" expresses the concept of "too late" or "definitely," as if there has been a point of no return. It is a word that suggests irreversible and stable change.
Now, on the other hand, indicates the present moment. It is used to indicate a time immediately following the past or to speak of what is happening at that precise moment. Let's look at some examples:
Now I am on my lunch break.
Now I am reading a book.
I'm calling you right now.
In all these cases, "now" expresses the concept of the present moment, or immediate action.
In summary, the differences between "now" and "now" are substantial. While "by now" expresses a concept of irreversible change, "now" refers to the present moment or immediate action. Using these words correctly will make communication more effective and accurate.
We hope you found this article helpful in understanding the differences between "by now" and "now" and in using them appropriately in the Italian language.

"The secrets of Italian adverbs: 'anzi', 'bensì', 'al contrario' and 'per contro'"
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
#italianadverbs
Adverbs are words that modify the meaning of verbs, adjectives or other adverbs. They are intended to clarify, specify or expand the meaning of the sentence in which they are found. The adverbs "indeed," "nevertheless," "on the contrary," and "in contrast" are often used to express opposition or clarification.
The first adverb we will examine is "indeed." This term is used to introduce a clarification that contradicts or modifies what has just been stated. For example:
"I did not go to the movies; rather, I stayed home and read a book."
In this case, the adverb "rather" is used to indicate that the second part of the sentence contradicts the first, and that the person in question actually spent the evening at home, instead of going to the movies as would be expected.
The adverb "but rather" is used to express a contrast or alternative between two elements. For example:
"I did not see the movie in the theater, but rather watched it on the Internet streaming."
In this case, the adverb "but rather" is used to indicate that the person did not see the movie in the theater as one might think, but watched it streaming on the Internet.
The adverb "on the contrary" is used to indicate a contrast or opposition between two elements. For example:
"My sister prefers tea to coffee, as opposed to me who prefers coffee to tea."
In this case, the adverb "on the contrary" is used to indicate the opposition between my sister's preferences and mine.
Finally, the adverb "on the contrary" is used to express an opposition between two elements. For example:
"The price of real estate in the center is very high, in contrast, cheaper solutions can be found in the suburbs."
In this case, the adverb "in contrast" is used to indicate the contrast between the prices of properties in the center and those in the suburbs.
In conclusion, the adverbs "indeed," "but," "on the contrary," and "by contrast" are all used to express a contrast or clarification, but each has its own specific use. With the help of the practical examples presented in this article, you will hopefully have a better understanding of how to use these adverbs appropriately in your sentences.

Adverbs in the Italian language. Do they go before or after the verb? Find out with this video.
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
ESEMPI:
Francamente, non sono convinta dell'offerta.
Non sono convinta, francamente, dell'offerta.
Non sono convinta dell'offerta, francamente.
THE POSITION OF THE ADVERB
1 - Regarding the position of the adverb, it is generally placed after the verb:
EXAMPLE: In this bed I rarely sleep.
2 - Before an adjective or other adverb:
EXAMPLE:
Your aunt is really boring.
I ate very well.
3 - When the verb is compound form, many adverbs can be put either between the auxiliary and the participle or after the participle:
EXAMPLES:
The plane has definitely taken off. (between auxiliary and participle)
The plane definitely took off. (after the participle)
4 - the negation adverb not, and the adverbial particles ci, vi, and ne are always placed before the verb:
EXAMPLES:
The snake is not poisonous.
The party is not this.
I am going there now.
There is a big crowd,
It was worth it
5 - When the adverb refers to a particular element of the sentence, it refers to the whole sentence as a whole, its placement can be anywhere in the sentence, from which, however, it is separated by a comma:
EXAMPLES:
Frankly, I am not convinced by the offer.
I am not convinced, frankly, about the offer.
I am not convinced of the offer, frankly.

Ciao a tutti! Oggi parleremo delle espressioni idiomatiche italiane più popolari. Escludendo quelle già menzionate in precedenza, ecco le sei espressioni che analizzeremo in questo articolo:
1. Chi dorme non piglia pesci
2. Essere al verde
3. Farsi i fatti propri
4. Non avere peli sulla lingua
5. Prendere un granchio

"Surprise your Italian friends with these unique idioms!"
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
Hello everyone! Today we will talk about the most popular Italian idiomatic expressions. Excluding those previously mentioned, here are the six expressions we will analyze in this article:
1. "Chi dorme non piglia pesci" - "Those who sleep don't catch fish."
2. "Essere al verde" - "To be in the green."
3. "Farsi i fatti propri" - "To mind your own business."
4. "Non avere peli sulla lingua" - "To not have hairs on your tongue
5. "Prendere un granchio" - "To take a crab."
6. "Rompere le scatole" - "To break the boxes."
Let's start with the first expression, "Chi dorme non piglia pesci." This expression means that if you don't take action, you won't achieve anything. For example, if you want to get a job or achieve a goal, you need to move and act actively to achieve it, otherwise you won't get anything.
The second expression is "Essere al verde," which means to be broke. For example, if a friend asks you to go out to dinner but you don't have any money, you can say "I'm sorry, I'm broke at the moment."
The third expression is "Farsi i fatti propri," which means to mind your own business. For example, if two colleagues are having a private conversation, it's best not to interfere and mind your own business.
The fourth expression is "Non avere peli sulla lingua," which means to be frank and straightforward in speaking. For example, if you want to criticize a friend for a wrong behavior, it's better to tell him/her directly instead of avoiding the problem.
The fifth expression is "Prendere un granchio," which means to make a gaffe or an embarrassing mistake. For example, if in a conversation you mistake someone's name, you can say "Sorry, I made a mistake."
Finally, the last expression is "Rompere le scatole," which means to be annoying or bothersome. For example, if a friend keeps calling or sending messages repeatedly, you can say "You're bothering me, stop it!"
We hope these Italian idiomatic expressions were helpful and allowed you to expand your vocabulary and understanding of the language. We invite you to continue exploring the wonderful world of Italian language, always searching for new expressions to use in your daily conversations.

"Fare un giro" e "In alto mare" espressioni idiomatiche italiane molto popolari.
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.

The 6 most useful Italian expressions in daily life.
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
Welcome everyone, today we will discuss the most common Italian expressions used in everyday life.
Learning these expressions can be very useful for foreign students who want to immerse themselves in Italian culture and learn the Italian language.
1. Tutto a posto: This expression is often used in Italy and means "everything's fine" or "all right."
It can be used in many situations, such as when someone asks how you are or when you want to reassure someone that everything is under control.
2. Fare il ponte: This expression is used to refer to a period of time when there are consecutive holidays.
For example, if the national holiday falls on a Thursday and Friday is already a holiday, you are said to "bridge" between the holiday and the weekend.
3. Mettere una pezza: This expression is used to refer to the idea of solving a problem temporarily.
For example, if you have a hole in your pants and want to cover it up quickly, you can "patch it up" until you have a way to repair the damage permanently.
4. In bocca al lupo: This expression is used to wish someone good luck.
The appropriate response is "may the wolf drop dead," which means "may the wolf die."
5. Avere la botte piena e la moglie ubriaca: This ironic expression is used when someone asks for too much or demands to have it all.
It means he wants both a full barrel, that is, he wants everything, and a drunk wife, that is, he wants happiness at all costs.
6. Avere le mani in pasta: This expression is used to indicate that someone is working on something.
For example, if you are cooking dinner and someone asks you what you are doing, you can answer that you have your hands in the dough.
These are just some of the most common Italian expressions used in everyday life.
The videos in this channel are dedicated to the Italian language and culture. The main topics will be grammar lessons, exercises, dialogues from everyday life, history, geography, fashion, cooking and much more.

Le 6 espressioni italiane più utili nella vita quotidiana.
#robertoborzellinolinguaitalianaperstranieri .
Benvenuti a tutti, oggi parleremo delle espressioni italiane più comuni utilizzate nella vita quotidiana.
Imparare queste espressioni può essere molto utile per gli studenti stranieri che vogliono immergersi nella cultura italiana e imparare la lingua italiana.
1. Tutto a posto: Questa espressione viene utilizzata spesso in Italia e significa "tutto bene" o "tutto a posto".

Example: "I will go to work early tomorrow morning."
Quantity: a lot, a little, enough, too much, completely

In addition, adverbs can also be formed from adjectives, such as "fast" becomes "quickly" or "happy" becomes "happily".

"Diventa fluente in italiano: l'imperativo spiegato in modo semplice e chiaro!"
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
#imperativo
• Fai i compiti!
• Bevi un bicchiere d'acqua!
• Studia di più!
• Non preoccuparti!
• Mangia più verdura!
• Sii gentile!
• Siate pazienti!
• Ascoltami bene!
• Non ti preoccupare!
In sintesi, l'imperativo è un modo verbale molto utile per esprimere un ordine, un invito, un consiglio o una raccomandazione.
Coniughiamo all'imperativo i seguenti verbi: essere, avere, mangiare, leggere, dormire, bere, svegliarsi
• Essere: sii (tu), sia (lei/lui/formale), siamo (noi), siate (voi), siano (loro)
• Avere: abbi (tu), abbia (lei/lui/formale), abbiamo (noi), abbiate (voi), abbiano (loro)

The imperative mode in the Italian language.
The imperative is a verbal mode that is used to express an order, an invitation, an advice or a request. It is a very particular verbal form, which is conjugated differently from other verbal forms. In Italian, the imperative is mainly used for the singular and plural of the second person, while the present subjunctive is used in the third person.
How is the imperative conjugated?
The imperative is conjugated differently depending on the verb and the person addressed. In the case of the second person singular, the basic form of the verb is used, while in the plural the ending -ate is added for regular verbs, and the ending -ete for irregular verbs. For example, if we wanted to give the order to "eat" to a single person, we would have to say "eat!", whereas if we wanted to address several people, we would have to say "eat!".
As far as irregular verbs are concerned, there are some particular forms to memorise. For example, the verb 'do' becomes 'does' in the second person singular and 'do' in the second person plural. The verb 'say' becomes 'say' in the second person singular and 'say' in the second person plural.
In addition, there are some irregular imperative forms that do not follow the standard conjugation rules. For example, the verb 'to be' has an irregular imperative form: 'be' in the second person singular and 'be' in the second person plural.
The imperative is mainly used to express an order or an invitation, e.g. "Come here!", "Do your homework!", "Have a glass of water!". However, the imperative can also be used to express advice or a recommendation, e.g.: "Study harder!", "Don't worry!", "Eat more vegetables!".

How to use the Italian adverb MICA. Easy examples.
#RobertoBorzellinoLinguaitalianaperstranieri.
Come usare la parola MICA in italiano
L’espressione MICA, può assumere vari significati!
Oppure
Non hai mica visto in giro i miei occhiali?
ATTENZIONE.
MICA MALE può anche essere seguito da un sostantivo;
Per esempio:
Mica male questo vino! (→ c’è di meglio, ma è comunque buono)
MICA TANTO, invece, non può essere seguito da un sostantivo
How to use the word MICA in Italian
The expression MICA, can take on various meanings!
------------------------------------------
1. It can take on the meaning of: NOT AT ALL, FOR NOTHING, and thus can reinforce a negation.
For example:
I am not mica (= not at all) well!
or
I don't have a Ferrari at all!
2. With the same meaning, MICA can also be used alone, i.e. without the other negation. In this case, however, it must be put before the verb (whereas in the sentence above we put it after the verb).
For example:
Mica I'm fine!
I don't have a Ferrari!
3. MICA can also have the meaning of PER CASO in interrogative sentences (with or without the other negation).
For example:
Mica do you want this other piece of tart?
Or
You haven't seen my glasses around, have you?
4. Finally, MICA can also be used in expressions such as: MICA MALE and MICA A LOT.
MICA MALE: is used to express a positive judgement, but not in an exaggerated way....
For example:
- Do you like this shirt?
- Eh, it's not bad... (→ it's not beautiful, but it's nice).
NOT TOO MUCH: serves to express a negative judgement, but not exaggeratedly...
For example:
- Do you like this shirt? - Not that much!
Both of these expressions can be used on their own.
ATTENTION.
MICA MALE can also be followed by a noun;
For example:
Not bad this wine! (→ there is better, but it is still good).
MICA TANTO, on the other hand, cannot be followed by a noun
