This is what really attracted me to computers originally. I almost became a game composer because of it.

Shortly after the release of Pong for the home market, Atari (ever the insecure startup) launched "Project Mood" trying to get into other areas of home entertainment, before committing to game machines fully. The result of that project was the "Atari Video Music" system, released in late 1977. It was a $900 (in current money) bit of stereo kit that would pump psychedelic visuals to your television set, driven by the audio from your stereo system. The company first pitched the device to Sears. The Sears representative asked what the developers were smoking when they invented it. With that, a technician stepped forward **holding up a lit joint**. And with that, Atari became the very first company ever in history, to Drop The Bass.

When you're either not equipped or don't have the time to get into the guts of the Atari 1050 disk drive, but you still want to make your Atari retro computer useful, then you need another way to get files on and off the machine. Here are some of the ways that you can do that.

So, I'm reposting here, the demo I posted a few days ago. Only this time, it's re-captured using a different device. The original capture was done with a $200 device that was supposed to be capable of 4K (although I don't own any 4K devices), and had multiple HDMI input capability. This capture was done with $14 Amazon dongle. It's WAY BETTER, both in terms of video resolution and color, AND in terms of audio capture: better frequency range and better dynamic response. This video is proof that price isn't necessarily an indicator of anything.

This is also a pretty dope chiptune! I got jealous of the SID chiptune I posted, and decided to offset it with this POKEY chiptune. This has some pretty amazing graphics, as well, thanks to the ANTIC and the GTIA. If someone were to combine the SID, the ANTIC, and the G/CTIA into one 6502 machine, I think you'd have the perfect 8 bit machine.
