Zwartbles Ireland is a small company run from a farm in County Kilkenny in Ireland. We are a regenerative farm which means restoring soils health and regenerating its natural carbon and nutrient cycle with biodiversity of pasture sward with grasses, legumes, forbs and herbs. This also means we farm with nature. Healthy soils are important for healthy environment. So we encourage all life from the microbial to dung beetles, ants, pollinators to flora biodiversity, birds, hare, hedgehogs, rabbits, fox, badger as well as our livestock. This mean we farm in a style of mob grazing and giving fields long rest times between grazings. We have seen a huge increase and return of wildlife including woodcock and snipe in winter months foraging for dung beetle larvae, red squirrel, wood peckers and pine martens. We also have the rare natter bat and previously thought extinct Tawny Mining bees.
We sell, Zwartbles sheep, Zwartbles blankets and yarn made from the sheep, and calendars featuring Inca the World's Smallest Sheepdog and her coworkers. We also sell alpaca yarn spun for our own alpaca. Our yarns are 100 percent natural, grown by our sheep which grazing our small green Irish fields. This wool is naturally sequestered carbon which you can then knit into warm environmental friendly clothing.

Artimud & Hoofstuff Treatments
If you've never done it or seen it done, that should help you visualise how you can treat your horse's feet by yourself with Artimud and Hoofstuff.
I find those 2 products to be very effective against all kind of hoof infections or injuries, PLUS they are as natural as can be!
Artimud has the feel of mud with all the active ingredients RedHorse has packed in it. It's ideal for shallow grooves, like WLD or collateral grooves or shallow central sulcus. It can stay on for a couple of days and keep the spot clean.
Hoofstuff has cotton fibres in it, making it the wrong candidate to stay in shallow places, like Artimud does. But for deep holes, that's the best! You can put it in with a thin screwdriver and it will keep the hole, first, clean of foreign bodies, and, second, keeps disinfecting the wound. It can remain stuck in the hole for days!

Spanish Horse Maintenance Trim
Here is a video of a simple maintenance trim.
Feet should be trimmed as often as possible, approx every 2-3 weeks. Ideally in between your hoof care provider's visits.
The maintenance trim is simply removing the excess external hoof wall to mimic natural wear. If you train regularly and feel confident enough, it's something you can easily do on your own.
However, if your horse has important imbalances, it is paramount to address them properly on a regular basis. An experienced trimmer or farrier should control your work and correct the feet imbalances.
For this horse, a maintenance trim is necessary often to correct imbalances and because the owner is not in a position to perform a maintenance trim on the horse at all.
The bars were not trimmed on purpose for this trim and were trimmed away at the next corrective trim, 4 weeks later.
