Round column mill CNC conversion restoration Part 1, Jet, Grizzly, rong fu, harbor freight, Maxnc
This mill is sold under many names like Jet 350020, Grizzly G0705, rong fu, central machinery, etc...The closed loop board was taken off a maxNC and uses high quality U made pacific scientific steppers. The spindle is controlled by a solid state relay. The conversion was done about 15-20 years ago. Interesting is mach3 these has a configuration for this and I got it working. Look at the similarities below.

I scored this on offer up for $35. I have about $65 into it. I was happy to get a unique American made craftsman. This think is heavy duty cast iron. This thing cut through steel like butter. I don't know how I lived without it.

Bummer, GPU mining is a bust with California's extreme power rates. Worst state for everything.
I finally had to pull the plug on my Crypto mining operation. I mined for years profitably until recently. In CA there is a multi tiered power. The more you use the more expensive it gets. In other states the more you use the rates go down. The only thing that thrives here is homelessness and crime. Just kidding, I need the extra power to run my new CNC stuff.
Its so jacked here they are righting books about it.

I just saw this R-Mode beta last night. I live in the southern california where the power rates are ridiculous. Any power savings help so I'm happy. My GPU sweet spot was 1000mhz on the core clock and 630 Millivolts on the core voltage.

Hitachi 3 phase motor rebuild, loud groan, howling, bearing replacement and cleaning Lathe VFD
I finally got my VFD hooked up to my 1966 Hitachi lathe motor. The bearings sounded like they were shot. I was surprised I was able to find some replacement bearing for $10 each. I used purple power degreaser to clean the coils. Now I'm one step closer to get this lathe up and running.

Cadillac SRX air conditioning intermittent warm at idle troubleshooting repair no AC pressure switch
If you don't want to watch video and troubleshooting process then the problem was a corroded AC pressure switch connector. My wife's Cadillac AC became intermittent and stopped blowing cool air at idle. The problem was the AC condenser fan was not turning on and created a high pressure situation. The high pressure situation caused the system to open the emergency pressure relief valve. This in turn created a low refrigerant issue. I traced all the wires back to the source and tested fuses and relays. I was able to find the GM dealer software on the internet and was able to verify the fans were indeed working. The ECU was not being commanded to turn on by the AC system. I traced it back to the AC pressure switch. Once I found the switch, located under the front grill I found the corraded connector.

I was going to either use Mach3, Mach4, LinuxCNC or Centroid Acorn. Let me know what you would use. I already have an extra USB smooth stepper to works with mach3, possible mach4.

Orca Extruder System Nema 14 Ultra Light weight with BLtouch Part 1
I decided to design a new extruder system based on a Nema 14 stepper motor. These things are extremely light. Two of the holes align with a Nema 17 hole pattern. In part 2 I will be checking fitment. I will be making mount for top and side mounted linear rail and Creality based systems.

TeamRedMiner HiveOS RX 5700 XT randomly rebooting, device dead, crashing, reboot
For about a year I've been dealing with random reboots on my RX 5700 XT rig. Non of my wires were burnt or hot. When I changed over my GPU's to a different rig and power supply it became very apparent that the RX 5700 XT draws allot more power from the PCI riser then my Nvidia cards. I had burned wires and GPU's going offline within a week. I directly soldered 6 pin connectors directly to the power supply board. Since then I've never had another reboot again.

Crypto mining power supply modification, No more burnt Sata riser cables, melted wires, safer
When I moved over my RX5700 XT to my smaller mining rig I forgot the AMD card draw allot more power from the riser. I had extra 6+2 PCIe cables laying around so I decied to remove the Molex and Sata connectors from the power supply motherboard. The wires melted because I'm pulling to too much current through small gauge wire. No I have 6 pin cables soldered directly to the PCB

RX 5700 XT bios downgrade to Non XT for better power consumption and more hashrate
I feel like the XT bios is just a way to scam more money out of existing hardware. There is no difference in the hardware. The XT bios allows for more overclocking and higher power consumption. I've been wanting to do this experiment for awhile. I wanted to know what would happen if I put a non XT bios on a XT GPU. I seemed to pickup a few megahash and save about 15-20 watts of power. The non XT bios allowed me bring down the core voltage with crashing the cards.

MSI Gaming X 1660 Super broken? $150 OfferUp score for crypto mining Ethereum
I'm always lookout for local deals on GPU's. The got this from a guy that said it would crash in windows idling longer then 5 minutes. I thought it was weird because GPU's usually overheat and crash during full load. I took the risk for $150. I figured I might have to replace the thermal pads or repaste the heatsink. Worst case scenario I would have to reflow some solder.

Energy Efficient Full Featured Firewall Build Sophos XG, Pfsense, OPNsense
I got this little Intel Atom based server from a customer. It used to be a Asterisk based phone system. Intel Atoms are very energy efficient CPU's. This setup would be good for home or small business use. I've installed and programmed hundreds of firewall from every manufacturer. My favorite Linux based firewall is Sophos. Disable all unnecessary peripherals in the bios. I was able to get this firewall down to 20 watts. My SSD based i3 pulls 30 watts. Where I live and my current power consumption 10 watts is about $2-$3 and month

LG Stylo 4 and 5 cracked screen screen digitizer replacement repair
Well, I'm fixing this screen again. My kid is pretty ruff with his phone. This is way I recommend name brand phones. There easy to find replacement parts. I'm pretty familiar with this phone now.
This the best tool I've seen so far
