After a rather rough night, and determining we could safely release it from the two traps, we opted to release the opossum rather than dispatch it.

This hen chick didn't like the white led, and wanted to set the mood to something more soothing. She figured out that pecking at the controller board causes the light to reset to orange/red.

It always feels worse than it is...

Fortunately no interruption in service, but it did make it difficult to use the road. Cutting the pine released the weight off of the lines, causing a sudden launch of the trunk (and nearly my saw).

Recorded this after being wakened by the gunfire. After realizing it was coming from a helicopter, I grabbed my Nikon P900 and began recording. Helicopter was a bit over 1 mile away when shooting. Not knowing who the helicopter belonged to, I contacted my local sheriff's office, who confirmed it was TWRA thinning out the feral hog population. On some of my stills I was able to read the N-number and looked up the registration info and flight tracker info. It is registered to the USDA. I was quite surprised to learn it is legal shoot firearms from an aircraft - at least if you work for .gov!
