Why Jesus? (P5) - The Son Rises
First Corinthians 15:1-34
Based on Zoom Meeting, March 29, 2024
It is a challenge for us, Christians, to prove to people what is naturally impossible, the resurrection of Jesus, especially to those who believe that there are no supernatural entities, such as God. Indeed, we argue that God raised Jesus from the dead. This is a supernatural event. Paul invoked many eyewitnesses, including himself, to the authenticity of the event. Christianity is based on the Christ. If Jesus actually rose from the dead physically, then Christianity is true and all other religions are false, for they are all essentially incompatible with Christianity.

Why Jesus? (P4) - The Son of David Judges Israel
The Sovereignty and Authority of Jesus
March 22, 2024
Though the crowd accepted Jesus as the Messiah and King, the leaders of the Temple and of Judea rejected Him as the One (not to mention that the Romans would object to that). In Matthew 23-25, Jesus pronounced His judgment on the House of Judah.

Worthy Manner of Living - Eph 4:1-6
The Ephesians Series Part 7
With Paul confined in prison, the best he could do to help the church was to pray for them and encourage them to be united. Each of us should do our best to live as genuine believers and followers of the Lord Jesus. Moreover, we should stick together the best we can.

Decide Now: Worship or Reject the LORD (Joshua 24)
New Year Message
January 4, 2023
While in Mount Sinai, the children of Israel could have rejected God. YaHWeH was not forcing them to enter into a covenant relationship with him. The people could have gone their own way, whether back to Egypt or find some other place where they wanted to go. In today’s story, they were in the Promised Land already. And then, here comes Joshua, giving them a choice: (1) to continue to worship YaHWeH their God who blessed them with the land, or (2) to worship the god of their ancestors, or (3) to worship a new god, the god of the Amorites. Again, was God pushing them away, tempting them to leave him and go with a strange god?

When God Gives You a Good Start (Joshua 23)
December 28, 2023
When we turn to the LORD, he uses people to lead us to have a good start in our new life. Israel had Joshua. In the church, we have evangelists, pastors, and teachers as our disciple-makers. However, much work has to be done yet in us. You know that. You have to change your thinking, attitude, habits, and deeds. You have the power of the Spirit of God.

We Are Heirs of the Promise in Christ Jesus (Gal. 4:1-20)
The Galatians Series Part 6
Paul has been making the Galatians realize the status they have by being in Christ Jesus, that is, from slaves, they have become sons and daughters of God, as well as heirs to the promise. He also expresses his amazement at why they try to go back to slavery by accepting the message of the Juaizers. However, he was willing to evangelize them again until Christ had been formed in them.

Inheritance through the Promise, Not through the Law (Gal. 3:15-29)
The Galatians Series Part 5
October 5, 2023
Paul shows how the covenant of God with Abraham (The Promise) remained superior to the covenant He had with the children of Israel (The Law). God gave the Law because people kept on committing sins. He intended to make it our guardian until Jesus arrived to make us sons and daughters of God and we are clothed with Jesus.

Live By Faith, Not by the Law (Gal. 3:1-14)
The Galatians Series (Part 4)
September 28, 2023
Paul challenged the believers in Galatia to use their thinking. They have been trying to live by doing the works of the Law. They were wasting everything by doing that. God gave them the Holy Spirit not because of their works, but because of their faith in God.
In these verses, learn five positive arguments for justification by faith and two negative arguments against justification by works.
The Good News is that Christ has redeemed us from the Law and has given us the Holy Spirit.

The Gospel Paul Preached (Gal.1:11-2:10)
The Galatians Series (Part 2)
Sept. 14, 2023
Paul argued that the Gospel he proclaimed came from the Lord Jesus Himself through revelation. Certainly, some people doubted that. Judaizers taught the believers in Galatia that the true Gospel required Gentile converts to get circumcised. Paul called them false brothers. To settle the matter, Paul decided to present his Gospel to the church in Jerusalem. In support of Paul, Peter and James, plus John (the influential leaders and pillars of the church in Jerusalem), persuaded the leaders and the church not to require the Gentiles to be circumcised.

True Service to the Church (II Cor. 12:13-13:4)
Second Corinthians Series (Part 20)
August 17, 2023
The Apostle Paul reaffirmed his commitment to visit the church in Corinth for the third time in order to put things into order. He told them what to expect. He will not ask them for financial support and he will discipline those who still have not turned away from immorality, idolatry, and misbehavior. If he was "weak" in his approach before, that was because of the model of Jesus. However, he will be coming to Corinth with authority just as the Lord Jesus came with power.
