Hamas Launches Rockets on Tel Aviv, Denies Truce Talks Resumption Reports | Subscribe to Firstpost
Hamas claims to have launched a “large rocket barrage” on Tel Aviv. The Israeli Army said that at least eight rockets were fired from southern Gaza's Rafah city and its forces intercepted the rockets. Sirens were sounded in Tel Aviv after a gap of four months. Hamas also said that it captured Israeli soldiers during a fight in Jabalia city, a claim that Israel has denied. Israel shelled northern, central & southern Gaza overnight on May 25. Fighting rages in Gaza amid reports of truce talks next week. The reports suggest Mossad Chief met the CIA head and Qatar PM and agreed on a new framework for ceasefire talks. However, Hamas has denied reports of a resumption of peace talks in Cairo next week.

Taiwan Calls For Growing "Combat Capabilities" After China's Military Drills
China has ended its two days of military exercise around Taiwan aimed at testing the ability to “seize power” over the island. China held simulated attacks with bombers during the drill. Taiwan condemned the Chinese drills as “blatant provocation” and said that the military moves undermine the peaceful and status quo of the Taiwan Strait. The Taiwanese Defence Ministry called on personnel to grow "combat capabilities" as the island reported a surge in Chinese warplanes and warships. Taiwanese forces detected “62 Chinese aircraft and 27 naval ships” while "46 planes crossed the median line that served as an unofficial barrier between the two sides in Taiwan Strait. China’s “punishment” exercises followed new Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te's inauguration. Beijing views the new president as a “separatist”.
