In Episode 2, we're replacing all the spark and fuel thingamajigs in the Dodge. We've got new plug wires, coil, resistor, plugs, and a shiny new Holley 750cfm carb. Somehow, by a brain-toot, I forgot to replace the short section of fuel line from the pump to the carb a few years back when I replaced the fuel tank, sending unit and primary fuel line. Today, we're wrapping up the brake job on Truck Norris. Raybestos Element3 rotors and pads were used with the anti-rust coating to help with the longevity of the rotors and pads. After the fact, we've ended up replacing all four calipers, as two were stuck (noticed after we started a 4 hour road-trip for Bobcat attachments) so rather than deal with it, we limped home with smoking brakes and chucked the calipers for replacements. Torque on the wheel lugs and spacer nuts: 150lbs Torque on the caliper and caliper bracket: 56lbs Your parts and torque specs may differ, so be sure you're referencing the specific model of your pickup, as I was sent home twice with wrong parts. Today, we're performing some routine upkeep on Truck Norris. With 135,000 miles on the clock, it was time for new rotors and pads all-around. I ran into a few issues getting the front rotors off and had to break out the big tools. After what feels like weeks of bodywork on the doors, we get them prepped and primed. While we won't do our final blocking and sealing until we test fit them back the vehicle, they are protected from the elements and about 99.98% complete and should need little to no work. They'll be packaged up on a pallet for safe keeping until we re-mate them with the car. Next segments will feature running around the body and prepping for primer. An old friend contacted me a few weeks back about an hold Challenger he's had since his Navy days that he's just never had the opportunity to complete. Between life, family, time and space it's been sitting for the better part of 20 years. Way back, he swapped out the stock engine with a 7.2L 440 mated with a 727 trans. We've got a TON of work ahead of us, and getting it started will be the first challenge. Rust, dents, panel and even a ROOF replacement are just a few of the exterior things, and tasks like a disk brake conversion, replacement of the wiring etc are all on the list. We're kicking off our 1952 Chevy Styleline Deluxe rebuild in this video.
