Campfire and Blade Test
Out giving a couple experimental blades (and a Silky saw) some real-world use. The goal with these knives is to create a tool that can be safely carried like a knife, and will work like an axe. It also doubles as an illustration of wet-weather campcraft.

Strength For The Conflict, Part 5 -- Tube Tent Debris Shelter
The Tube Tent is possibly one of the best options to make a debris shelter quickly, with minimal materials, using a simple, inexpensive piece of plastic sheeting that weighs far less than a normal tarp, groundcloth, and sleeping bag. We demonstrate making a natural mattress, instead of depending on a foam pad for insulation from the ground. And yes, this mattress is more comfortable!
The video starts with a short preview, and then you get to watch an hour of the actual work, with much of the discussion of why we did what we did.

Fleeing to the Wilderness--Why, Where, How?
Many of us have a religious background that indicates that at some point we may need to make use of the mountains or wilderness as a refuge. Hebrews 11 mentions it. Jesus points us to the experience of Lot, and pointed forward in a dual prophecy to the destruction of Jerusalem and the end of the world. The books of Judges, 1 Samuel, Psalms, Isaiah, and Jeremiah contain many mentions. Revelation 12 indicates it, and the scenarios of chapters 13-18 strongly infer that such ability could be useful. Both secular and religious history give many examples of such needs, and the value of being able to use these places as a refuge. In this video, we discuss the realities of actually doing it. Here are some waypoints:

Heroes Among the Rocks
Hebrews 11:32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and [of] Barak, and [of] Samson, and [of] Jephthae; [of] David also, and Samuel, and [of] the prophets:
33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
We review the history of Joshua Gianavello (Josue Janavel), and the beginning of his career in maintaining breathing-room for primitive Christianity in the Piedmontese Alps.

Come along for some highlights and instructive tedium! Hopefully you have good audio output on your device. I've tried to step it up as much as I can, but the microphone was what it was. (Need to improve.) Some parts are better than others, so if you can't hear one part, skip along to the next.

Re-making a Broken Machete
This machete started life as a 22-inch D-handle from Ontario Knife Company, about two decades ago. I didn't like the ergonomics of the factory handle, so made a Dymondwood handle. Then, a few days ago, the blade broke--right on a notch that I had unwisely filed many years ago, to "end" the sharp part of the blade. So, I ground down what was left, drilled the steel in 3 places with a carbide drill bit, and put 1/2-inch thick brown canvas micarta on it using Gorrilla Glue. Now it's a 13-inch machete (18-1/2" overall).
