Uncle Plots To Kill Nephew
LATE John Odumodu has only two sons, Chris and Chike. Chris is now 28 years of age while Chike just turned 26 on the second day of February 2024. They have an uncle named Emeka, who they love so much like a father ever since their parents died in a car accident one year ago. They all live together but in different buildings in the ancestral Odumodu compound. They have continued to live in peace and harmony since their parents died.
One day, Emeka invites Chike to his sitting room while Chris was away. As Chike steps in, greets him and takes a seat in the room, he simply continues to stare at Chike without saying a word. After some seconds, Chike asks him why he is staring at him like that and he responds with a question that will later destroy all the peace and tranquility that the Odumodu family has ever known all their lives. He asks Chike "When will you become a man?"
Chike, responds, uncle, I don't understand what you mean. Am I not a man?
Emeka laughs and tells him that he's not yet a man. He tells him that men demand what they feel is rightly theirs and never waits for anyone to serve it on a platter to them. They fight for it. He then asks him why he has not demanded an equal share of his late father's properties from his older brother.
Chike tells him that his father already shared everything between both of them before he died and he, uncle Emeka is aware of it.
Uncle Emeka agrees that he is aware of all the properties he shared to both of them but was never aware of who got the family home they are living in and it wasn't mentioned anywhere that he, Chike, got a share of it. It is also your father's property and you deserve to have an equal share of it. You don't have a share of it because you are not man enough to demand for it yet. You have to go for it now before it becomes too late.
These words began to live rent free in chike's mind. As soon as Chris gets back from work that very day, Chike goes to him and demands to know his own portion of the ancestral home both of them are currently living in. Chris was totally shocked at the demand. He asks him if he is not aware that the home belongs to him as the first son of John Odumodu according to tradition. This response didn't go down well with Chike and he threatens to deal mercilessly with him if he doesn't give him an equal share of the ancestral home.
The next morning, Chris goes to Uncle Emeka to relate to him about the recent demand of his younger brother. He advises him to send him away before he poisons him in his home since, he , Chike is harbouring that kind of evil thought in his mind. Chris disagrees and says that he doesn't think it has gotten to that but promises to do just that if he ever threatens his life over the issue again.
As soon as Chris goes to work, uncle Emeka invites Chike to his room. He showers him with praises for acting like a real man. He says to him "Your brother just left my house this morning. He told me that he is becoming so scared of you because of the way you threatened him. he doesn't think you are serious. He told me that he will have no other option than to give you what you want if you ever threaten him again. I'm so proud of you now, my son."
Chris comes back from work that evening. Chike goes to him immediately. He says to him that he wants to know if he has decided on which portion of the ancestral home he wants him to take as his own. Chris casually tells him that he is beginning to run mad and continues with what he is doing. Chike quickly grabs him by his shirt and a scuffle erupts between them before uncle Emeka and other neighbors come to separate them.
Chris warns him to leave the home immediately or else he will not like the next thing that will happen to him. Chike agrees to leave but warns his brother that he will make sure that he regrets his actions. He also says that he will have a portion of the ancestral home no matter what it takes. He goes into his room, grabs some of his belongings and leaves.
Two days later, Chris is scared to death when some members of the local vigilante group in the community arrives in his home with two badly beaten criminals in handcuffs. One of the group leaders yells to the criminals "Is this the location? And they respond with a loud yes. On hearing this, Chris's heart sinks further into his stomach. Then the leader proceeds to ask them, is this the man? He is referring to Chris and they said no. They state further that the man is living in the next building beside Chris's house and his name is Emeka Odumodu.
The group swings into action immediately and arrests uncle Emeka. They put a handcuff on him and orders him to get into the bus where the other criminals are. As he is trying to obey the command, Chris steps up to the leader and demands to know what his uncle has done before they can take him away. he asks who he is. As soon as he says his name is Chris, he says to him "Oh, you are the Chris". You would have been a dead man today and your brother would have been blamed for your death if we did not succeed in arresting these men on their way to your house to kill you. We got a phone call from someone claiming that two men snatched his motorcycle at gunpoint and said that they drove towards Obiora road. And luckily for him we were on Obiora road. So he gave a description of the two men and when we saw these men, they matched perfectly with his description, so we stopped them.
On interrogation, we discovered that they stole the motorcycle to go on an assassination mission. When we went through the phone of one of the suspects, we saw Whatsapp messages from this your uncle, Emeka , where he detailed how they are going to kill you and then leave a false impression that will make everyone believe that they were sent by your brother, Chike, to kill you. In that message, he boasted about how he successfully planted the quarrel that you are having with your brother even though he understands the truth that traditionally, Chike has no claim to any part of the ancestral home as his father had already given him the properties that are due to him while he was alive.
Chris finds it very difficult to believe everything he has heard because of how they have literally taken uncle Emeka as a father. He begs them to let him see and listen to the Whatsapp messages by himself. After listening to the messages, he breaks down in tears and begins to ask his uncle why he wants to kill him and blame it on his younger brother. But his uncle never said a word and only looks away.
Now to you my listeners and viewers why do you think, Uncle Emeka wants to kill Chris and blame it on his younger brother? And if you happen to be Chris, will you ever trust and reconcile with your brother Chike, again?

I am now a murderer. But how did I become a murderer when I never had any intention to hurt someone not to talk of being the reason for an innocent man's death? How did I end up this way and what led me to kill someone on this very day? These words ring in Esther's head as she continues to stare at the burning body of chima on the street. Everything happened so fast and this is how it all went down.
Hello, my name is Bright and this is Bright Stories. Before we continue, please take one second of your time to hit the subscribe button. Thank you so much for your support. Let's get back to the story.
It was a Monday morning in the month of January 2024. The market is not experiencing any dull moment as many students who are studying in the nearby university have flocked the market to purchase some foodstuffs. Chima happens to be one of those students. He's a 23 year old student studying mass communication in the prestigious Nnamdi Azikiwe University popularly called Unizik. He is now in his final year and he's expected to graduate before the end of this year.
Now, lets talk about Esther. Esther is about 27 years of age. She's a devoted Christian. She's now engaged, but has refused to move in with her fiance because of her religious belief and hatred of premarital sex. She has taken out fifty thousand naira made up of five hundred naira notes held together with a rubber band from a nearby Bank. She intends to use the money to buy new materials for her tailoring business.
When she got home from the bank, she took out the money from her handbag, recounted it and then drops it on her bed. She then took out a powder from her handbag, drops the handbag on top of the small cupboard that also serves as the mirror stand before applying the makeup on her face. While she was still making up, her mother stepped in, asked her where she was preparing to go to and sat on the bed. Just as she was telling her mother about her plans for the day, her mother's phone rang, she picks up the phone and starts talking. Esther waited for some seconds but thinks she was running out of time. She picks up her handbag, and signals to her mother that she's leaving and then left.
Once outside, she stops an auto rickshaw popularly called Keke Napep in Nigeria. The driver already has two passengers at the backseat. Chima is one of the passengers. He is sitting at the right hand side of the auto rickshaw from where Esther is supposed to get into the vehicle from. Esther signals him to move further inside so that she can sit at the extreme right hand side of the vehicle but Chima refuses. Instead, he creates a little space for Esther to get in and sit in between him and the other passenger. This annoys Esther but she's left with no choice than to go in and sit in the middle of the two passengers.
While she was going in, she had severe contact with Chima and she quickly readjusts her handbag.
On getting to the market, Chima quickly jumped down from the tricycle, gave the driver one hundred naira notes and hurriedly left without collecting his twenty naira change. Esther comes down from the vehicle and starts searching for her money so that she can pay the driver but couldn't find a dime and she immediately alerted the people around that her fifty thousand naira has been stolen by the passenger that just left. Some boys who saw Chima leaving the Keke Napep in a hurry quickly chased after him and caught him. They asked him if he stole any money from Esther but he denied and said that he doesn't take whatever that doesn't belong to him. As they were interrogating him, more people gathered and this drew the attention of the market's President. He came and asked Esther to describe her money. Esther mentions that her money is exactly fifty thousand naira made up of five hundred naira notes held together with a rubber band. The president immediately searches Chima's pockets and recovers exactly the amount that matches the description of Esther's missing money. He hands over the money to Esther
Chima tries to explain to them that he is coming straight from the bank where he has gone to withdraw the money before coming to the market. But the angry mob was not ready to listen to him. The president tells the mob that he will hand him over to the police but the mob refused because they believe the police will let him go home the same day if he pays a little bribe. They began to accuse the president of supporting criminals and even alleged that Chima is one those boys he puts on the street to be robbing people of their belongings. When the heat from the mob became too much for the president, he handed Chima over to them. The mob began to beat him up and tore all his clothes. Esther tries to intervene. She begs them to stop but they threatened to kill her with Chima if she ever utters a word of pity again for a criminal. They dragged Chima on the floor as stones and sticks fly all over his body. Chima is already weak and could barely move on his own as a result of his numerous wounds and the amount of blood that has gone out from his body. Soon a car tyre was placed around his neck, another man poured some fuel on him and everyone quickly stepped away from him while still throwing stones at him.
Another man casually throws his cigarette at him and Chima is quickly engulfed in fire.
And tears quickly rolled down from Esther's eyes. Suddenly, her phone rings. It's her mother. And the next thing she hears is " Hello, Esther, it's like you forgot the money you went to withdraw from the bank. It is lying here on your bed. So how are you going to buy the materials?". Esther becomes more dumbfounded and heartbroken as she continues to stare at the burning Body of Chima with stones still flying all over him.
She wanted to tell the people that Chima is innocent so that they can at least put out the fire and allow his family to come and pick up his body for a befitting burial but doing that will certainly cost her her own life too. But if she refuses to confess that Chima is innocent, she will live the rest of her life with the guilt that she killed an innocent man considering the fact that she is a devout Christian.
So listeners and viewers, if you happen to be in Esther's shoes, what would you have done at this point. And if you happen to be Chima's parents, what will be your reaction if Esther ever confesses the truth? And if you happen to be one of the people that killed Chima on the street, will you ever participate in any mob action again irrespective of whatever evidence that is presented against the assumed criminal?

Tragedy of the Three Disabled friends
Tony is a crippled 35 year old man who lives with his two younger disabled friends, Silas and Steven. Silas is a blind guy of about 28 years while Steven is a deaf and dumb guy who is barely 23 years old.
They all share a similar story as they are all abandoned by their different parents at one of the disabled people's homes in the state.
They have grown to see themselves as brothers and are always willing to support each other.
As time goes by, they begin to nurse this ambition to move out of the disabled people's home. They all agree that they cannot continue to live in the home forever. They begin to make preparations on how to leave the home and go to a place where they could hustle better, take care of themselves and also support the home that have helped them so much. First, they went to a nearby shoemaking shop and begged the owner to teach them the craft. The owner agrees to teach them for free without any hesitation.
They all learnt faster than anyone that has ever come there to learn the trade and this really amazed the owner who decided to support them on the day of their graduation with all the equipments and materials they needed to start up the business. He also gave them some money and many other neighbors and customers who witnessed the magic they performed with materials while working in the man's shop showered them with gifts.
They went back to the disabled people's home and told them of their desire to leave the home and go elsewhere to live and work on their own in other to support themselves and give back to the home. The foundation granted their request and even helped them to secure an accommodation in their choice location. They were all so happy to finally live on their own like every other adults do.
They quickly rented a shop and started their shoemaking business.
Their shoes were very exceptional and they began to get overwhelming requests from customers. They would work overtime and even work on holidays, yet the requests kept pouring in and almost all their customers were patient with them and never wanted to take their jobs elsewhere even when they begged them to do so.
One day, Silas, who happens to be the blind one gets sick from all the stress at the shop and they asked him to take a day off to recover. So Tony and Steven head out for their normal business and didn't know the Tragedy that they were about to face on that very day.
As soon as they hit the road, it began to rain. Steven pushes Tony on his wheelchair to a nearby small shop for a temporary shelter.
An hour passed and the rain kept on increasing without any end in sight. Everywhere has already been flooded. Soon they hear a cracking sound coming from the small building. The shop is about to collapse as a result of the heavy rain and flooding . Steven quickly pushes Silas out and the shop collapsed almost immediately. As soon as they were out, they realised how deep the flood is. Steven could not even stand on his feet as he wrestled against the flood with his face occasionally going down into the flood as if he was going to get drowned while also trying to hold onto Tony's wheelchair at the same time. He looks up to check on Tony one more time but was totally heartbroken to see that Tony is no more on the wheelchair. The flood has carried Tony away and he has been holding onto an empty wheelchair all this while. He tries everything humanly possible to find Tony in the flood but without any success. He manages to swim back to the rubbles of the collapsed shop as the rain gradually stops. As he looks up into the flood, he sees some footwears floating on top the water. He takes a more careful look at the shoes and discovers that they are shoes from their shop. He looks further and sees majority of the shoes they have produced floating on top of the water. He breaks down in tears as he realizes that he has not only lost a brother but their shop is also gone.
After the rain has stopped, Steven, who is deaf and dumb, goes back home to tell Silas, who is blind everything that happened. But the question now is, how does Steven, who is deaf and dumb communicate everything that has happened to Silas, who is blind. And how do they continue with their shoemaking business without Tony who bridges the communication gap between them even when people helps them with funds to start all over again?
