Wrapping Up 2023: The Conversation
We're wrapping up 2023! Today's show is our first in a long time. It's been quite a year for us, we've settled in our new home and new studio. We'll talk about the propaganda and lies that have taken hold in our daily lives to the point where everything that is mediated and not a direct experience is questionable, and sometimes we wonder about that.

Catherine The Great Downgrader
In this 45 minute audio broadcast we discuss what it means when the Royal Family signals their middle class, banality to the rest of us, especially in the latest message from Catherine, Princess of Wales remission status. In the discussion we recommend reading "Class" by Paul Fussell and we also recommend viewing the 1983 movie "Metropolitan" and taking a gander at the latest drop on Netflix, "KAOS"

Mike Johnson is The Unelected President You Never Knew You Needed
We are casting our intuitive thinking skills out for those who are willing to listen.
When Nixon was voted in as President, with Spiro Agnew as his Vice President, he promptly found himself embroiled in the Watergate scandal and was forced to resign. When he resigned, Agnew was also forced to resign. Typically the Vice President would slide into the role of President should the President vacate the role for whatever reason, but with Agnew a mounting case of fraud and corruption that began when he was Governor followed him into the White House and he was not able to fulfill his duty. Since both the President and the Vice President could not occupy the Seat, it would then fall to the Speaker of the House. However, neither John McCormack nor Carl Albert, who were both Speakers of the House at different times during Nixon's short reign, took the Seat. This is because Congress did an end-run. They unanimously voted to install Gerald Ford as Vice President. He held this position from December, 1973 to August 1974. Ford then became President of the United States without ever running a campaign or acquiring a single vote on August 9, 1974, the day after Nixon made his Address To The Nation announcing his resignation.
In this discussion, we use this past example as a way to inform us of what may happen in this year's already tumultuous and confusing election season.
With Donald Trump being law-fared into a series of bullshit lawsuits filed against him, JD Vance and what he represents (Hillbilly Elegy) stoking the fears of a "Civll War' the Democrats are so afraid of, and Harris and Walz bumbling along without a clue of what it means to represent, are we being set up to beg for the polished, well-spoken, Presidential-looking, Constitutional lawyer that is Speaker Johnson if Trump is installed and only if he and Vance cannot fulfill their duties?
We explain in the audio broadcast that the determined reasoning behind oustering Speaker McCarthy and replacing him with Speaker Johnson, who received every Republican vote in Congress to occupy his current position, may be because of a possible installation as President.
Note: in the first few minutes of the audio broadcast Julie is describing Mike Johnson but accidentally refers to JD Vance. These off-the-cuff broadcasts are often spur-of-the moment so we appreciate your patience.
We, Book of Ours, are not voting. In fact, we aren't even registered to vote. We are simply analyzing a potential power play here. We may end up looking at a President and Vice President that never even ran for office.
Book of ours presents bookmark: Show 0075 August 30
We often want to over-complicate our lives and look at highly detailed and highly sourced facts as a crystal ball to tell us our future. In truth, the future is not so easily defined and it's not so complicated. In today's special bookmark we take some time to talk about the ongoing Patelco Credit Union situation and how it is a microcosm of what we experience in our day to day lives. These constant seemingly banal interruptions to our lives where we are to blame for situations that we are put into by outside actors, eventually lead us slowly into poverty, anxiety, broken relationships and worst of all, a sense of having no control. If we recognize the banality of this ongoing financial reset and that it's actually not our fault, we take back control.
