500 Yards with the 5.56 Henry Long Ranger
The Henry Long Ranger an Accurate rifle? Yes, after being properly setup:
Optic mounted forward enough for a consistent turkey neck cheek weld
Cheek riser paired with low rings for good cheek weld and sight alignment
Canvas GI Sling as a shooter’s aid
A very handsome, accurate, and very American rifle, The Henry Long Ranger.

I retain a very high regard for the KelTec RDB. It features almost perfectly mirrored controls and has a very paintball gun like feel…ideal for the Ambidextral Gunfighter.

22LR Ruger LCP II Part 4 - Galloway Precision Spring Kit
Fixing the 22LR Ruger LCP II Lite Rack:
For Light strikes Galloway Spring Kit Heavier Hammer Spring, lighter firing pin return spring
To prevent mag disengagements, a Holster with mag button coverage
For cycling issues…Galloway Spring kit’s Heavier extractor spring
The 22LR Ruger LCP II is the preeminent deep concealment semi-auto pistol with a very high score on our rounds per size and weight spreadsheet. Second only to the KelTec P17 if you exclude the large bodied CP33 and P322. Number one if you insist on pocket carry sized semi-auto pistols.
Since the LCP II is so handsome and adorable, AmbGun has decided to call it a “work in progress”.

Henry 5.56 Long Ranger - The Ambidextral Manual Action Rifle
Besides growing up watching The Rifleman, why am I reviewing a lever action rifle? Because lever action is the truly Ambi friendly manual action.

22LR Ruger LCP II Part 3 - Reliability and Magazine Disengagements
Accidental mag disengagements turned increasingly common.
MCARBO offers a stiffer magazine release spring.
Installation of the mag button spring requires removing the FCU.
With the LCP’s FCU disassembled, it was a good opportunity to remove the magazine disconnector so the little pistol can fire without a mag inserted (or while a mag is disengaged)
However, had I known before purchasing the extra cost and hardship of upgrading the LCP, I would have chosen a 22 caliber LCR or a S&W 43c or a NAA mini revolver. Or waited for a Keltec P10.

ASG CZ 75D Compact Airsoft - AmbGun Minuteman Review
CZ 75D compact replica 6mm spring airsoft gun features good sights with a windage adjustable rear sight
Standard accessory rail can accommodate a MantisX training aid.
Rubberized grip panels and magazine base give it a premium feel
“FCU” inside the gun looks to be mostly metal.
Safety works like the real thing
Hammer cocks back when working the slide or can be manually thumbed back. It’s just for show, but my 3 year old tester appreciates it.
Slide release is molded in the plastic, fake…3 year old does not approve.
Magazine feels solid and is easy to load. 3 year old mastered it.
Spring air, so no CO2 cartridges, no green gas, or batteries. 3 year old can't cock it. Requires Adults supervision.
Some reports of the trigger return spring breaking prematurely. It does sound like the spring is binding a bit if the trigger is pressed all the way back, so I used some self adhesive foam to create a trigger over travel stop.
At $25 it has to be one of the best spring airsoft values.

The Ruger 10/22 in Irons
I recently acquired a Ruger 10/22 with the modular stock. It didn’t have the integral pic rail, but is pre-drilled for a rail. I could have bought an extended pic rail to mount an rifle scope, but I decided that I needed to outfit an iron sight Appleseed/Liberty Training rifle.
Tech-Sights are recommended by Project Appleseed. I’ve used them on a SU16c and an AK47 with great results. So Tech-Sights Aperture sights were the obvious choice in this Appleseed build out.

USGI Canvas Sling AmbGun Minuteman Review #shorts
Our Key purpose in recommending the US Gi Canvas Sling is as a shooter’s aid
Most stable is the loop sling…sink into it's support for benchrest like steadiness.
Hasty Sling great for squatting and offhand.
Hasty, Hasty Sling for fast deployment offhand
And, yeah, you can sling your rifle for carry, too.
African muzzle down carry…………and presentation
US GI muzzle up Carry……….and presentation
Ambgun runs this sling on two Ruger 10/22’s, a BCM RECCE, the Tikka T1x, the Mossberg MVP Predator, a Henry 22LR lever, and the Henry 5.56 Long Ranger.
Why canvas over nylon? Nylon is slick slips loose, especially as a loop sling. Canvas grips.
Attend a Project Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship Clinic to get detailed instruction on the use of the sling…avoid the typical nylon sling for the best shot at earning your "Rifleman" patch. Seriously, besides a teachable attitude, it's most important.

Sig Sauer P322 AmbGun Minuteman Review #shorts
Ambidextrous Slide stop/release and ambi safety
Mag release configurable LH or RH
Changing the brightness settings on RomeoZero red dot…challenging
P322 splits the difference between the P365XL and P320 as a rimfire trainer
Great for carrying in the Hill People Runner’s Kit Chest pack.
High composite score on AmbGun’s Rounds per size and weight spreadsheet
Rear sight filler plate not included in optics package, get P322 without the optic and mount a better red dot…and have the plate in case you change your mind about red dots.
Pretty reliable except for light strikes on Aquila ammo.
100% with Mini-Mag
Pay attention when loading mags…most malfunction issues arise there.

The 22LR Ruger LCP II
With Summer upon us, I’ve been wanting a smaller, palm sized, pocket carry, 10 round P17. Well KelTec doesn’t make such a thing…yet. So I picked up a Ruger 22 LCP II.
11.2 ounces…1.6 ounces lighter than the P17 and much smaller in width, grip height, and length. Smaller, but not much lighter, the 22 LCP II is a true pocket pistol. It even includes a pocket holster. For non-permissive environments, the diminutive 22 LCP is hard to beat. Definitely top dog pocket pistol for rounds per size and weight.

KelTec P17 Red Dot Slide Minuteman Review #shorts
AmbGun’s Minuteman Review KelTec’s P17 Red Dot Slide
The slide features the Keltec logo cut into the top of the slide.
and features an aluminum slide cap
So no polymer sandwiched between the slide and the optic.
A beautiful piece of work that adds a touch of elegance to the P17.
Slide and optic is 132 grams. 10 grams lighter than the Tanner adapter plate solution.
(Remove the front sight to shave two more grams of reciprocating mass.) More reliable.
Easy to swap between red dot and iron sights.
Doesn’t work with the AmbGun Hammer Block.
Suppressor height front sight does not work with any of my holsters
The Crimson Trace red dot is a “gain of function collusion”, “made in china” optic.
Hopefully KelTec offers the RMSc compatible slide without an optic so you can choose your own dot. I switched to the Shield SMSc.
$199 for the slide and CT1500 is a decent deal, but $100 for just the slide would be better.

Lever Action Rimfires - Henry 22LR vs Henry Varmint Express 17HMR Part 1
Why a lever gun?
A truly ambidextrous manual action.
Perfectly mirrored operation and controls
All for Optimal use of concealment, cover and terrain
Fast cyclic rate for a manual action.
Thin, compact easily fits in a backpack or saddle scabbard even with an optic.
Less scary for the bleating, 2A illiterate public.
Extremely satisfying to operate.

Cheek-Eez Minuteman Review #shorts
Cheek Eez is a buttstock cheep pad made of Sorbothane which delivers exceptional shock absorbing qualities.
Ambgun first used the Cheek Eez to raise the buttstock comb on a Marlin 45-70 Guide Gun to achieve optimal cheek weld with proper eye to scope alignment….see our video, Marlin 45-70 Guide Gun for The Ambidextral Hunter.
https://youtu.be/in1iduin-hg
AmbGun is Currently testing the Henry 22Lr and 17 HMR Express and once again AmbGun is using the Cheek Eez to achieve proper eye alignment with a rifle scope.
https://www.ambgun.com/ambidextral-rifle/17hmr
On the Henry 22Lr, we used a ¼” Cheek Eez whereas on the 17 Express, with its taller buttstock comb, we used a 1/16” Cheek Eez. And our Mossberg MVP Predator got the ⅛” Cheek Eez.
Carefully clean the buttstock using the included alcohol wipes.
Find the centerline of the Cheek Eez
Expose the adhesive
Starting from the top centerline, press and work your way down the stock
Cheek Eez can follow some complex curves
Symmetrically placed it looks great.

Goat Guns - Minuteman Review #shorts #GGSKIT
You don’t need this, but it’s so cool you will want one…or more.
This is the AmbGun minuteman review of GoatGuns
These 1/3rd scale die cast gun models feature many moving parts.
The AR15 features a functioning charging handle, mag release, and trigger (though a bit mushy…Gieselle upgrade?). Magazines are loaded with three inert cartridges. The safety rotates and the butt stock is adjustable. The Suppressor or flash hider may be unthreaded.
Optional ACOG with those big bulbous Trijicon mounting nuts actually mount it to the pic rail. You can also add an optional vertical grip to your AR15 or M16
The AK47 features a rock in mag with the paddle release. The Charging Handle cycles and the safety moves. The dust cover can be removed just like the real thing. Trigger is a bit mushy, but that’s to be expected for most production AK’s.
Anyone who owns the real thing, is going to want one of these models. Anyone who can’t buy the real thing, will get plenty of vicarious satisfaction owning a Goat Gun. There are almost 30 different models. I can’t wait to see a lever action Goat Gun.

Henry 22LR Lever Action AQT Rematch #shorts
It’s been two years since AmbGun reviewed the Henry 22 Lever Action rifle.
Lever action rifles are so satisfying.
But at the time without a sling and running the stock sights, I was only able to manage a 189 on the Project Appleseed AQT.
Adding sling studs to accommodate a canvas GI Sling and a Leupold VX-Freedom 1.5-4 rifle scope so another shot at the AQT
Need to get the optic a bit further forward for proper “turkey neck cheek weld” eye relief and add about ¼” to the buttstock comb for proper sight alignment.
Nevertheless, with the sling and better sighting system I scored a 225, well into Rifleman territory.
Offhand I scored a 43, I shanked one shot. A high 40’s should be the norm.
Squatting, I scored a 48. Awesome.
Rapid fire prone a 42
And slow fire prone a 92
Solve the sight alignment, cheek weld issue, I should score into the mid 230’s…as well as my Ruger 10/22 or Tikka T1x.
A lightweight, thin, ambi manual action rimfire…hmmmmm
See Ambgun.com for further developments.

AmbGun Minuteman Review of the Mantis BlackbeardX #shorts
The Mantis BlackbeardX, exclusively for the AR15, is multiple products in one
The BlackbeardX BCG is a dry fire training laser that, within limits, can be adjusted to match your AR’s sighting system.
You can also use the training laser with the free Mantis Laser Academy app to automatically score your hits on targets.
Moreover the BBX BCG will also automatically reset your trigger…so you can dry fire without the hassle of manually cycling your rifle.
And embedded in the battery pack magazine that runs all of this is MantisX that provides feedback about the steadiness of your trigger manipulation. Are you anticipating recoil, are you jerking the trigger, are you “dragging wood”?
Via the MantisX app, you can earn your Basic and Advanced Rifleman patches.
MantisX app and the Laser Academy, Two separate apps performing very different functions. I suggest using an old phone for Mantis Laser Academy and your current phone for the MantisX scoring.
But I really found the autoresetting trigger hugely beneficial for practicing canted, point shooting. So beneficial that an “ambied” AR15 paired with BBX is no longer disparaged as a relic when compared to the modern, ambidextrous bullpups.

Mantis BlackbeardX for the AR15
What is Mantis BlackbeardX?
It is three things: a training laser, an auto trigger reset, and a device to detect movement during the firing sequene/trigger press…a Mantis X2.
BlackbeardX is an auto-resetting dry fire training laser for the AR15. That is with each dry fire shot a laser (green or red, your choice) is emitted and the trigger is automatically reset for quick follow-up shots. No manual cycling of the action is required.
The laser and auto-resetting trigger is handled by the Mantis BlackbardX “bolt carrier group” that quickly replaces your live fire AR15 bolt carrier group and charging handle.

AmbGun Preview Henry Lever Action Rimfire Rifles #shorts
The goal is to make the Henry 22LR lever gun perform as well or better than my Tikka T1x….as accurate but truly ambi. And 10 ounces lighter.
And to see just how close a Henry 17 HMR can come to replacing a 5.56 carbine.
