Take a drive with us East of Edmonton Alberta as we explore Miquelon Lake Provincial Park in winter. Miquelon lake is used for hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and Skijoring. We decided to take a quick drive through the park and hike the Holdsworth Trail. This section of the park was donated by the Holdworth family and has a 3.5km trail around a lake and the abandoned homestead. Watch where you are going; you may encounter a moose along your way. Today we head down to the Devin River Valley to check out the ice flow in the North Saskatchewan river & cook some smoked chicken wings in the Bradley smoker. The North Saskatchewan River is Glacier Fed Starting at the Columbia Icefields and flowing east to central Saskatchewan where it meets the south Saskatchewan River. We Dust off the old Bradley Smoker and Fire it up to smoke some chicken wings. we marinated the chicken wings in olive oil, fresh lemon juice, steeped tea jam rockin dry rub, sea salt and garlic. We used a light Applewood Puck to smoke the wings. after pulling them out of the smoker we tossed some of the wings with dill pickle and salt & vinegar popcorn seasoning and well.... In this video we get concrete poured for a cement slab in our new shop a Steel Manufactured building. Pouring a concrete Slab is no easy task but we get it done, Finish up the taping on the insulation battens on the walls and clean up the cut lines from cutting the concrete with the saw. The Shop Cost us 15k to buy and shipped to us with everything you need plus the insolation. Then make some good old sloppy joes to finish off the day. This shop has been a long process but will be well worth it in the end! After we build the loft and finish the mudding and taping we can use it as our RV Storage and pull in our vintage RV 1974 Winnebago Indian. Today We Blanch and peel beets for canning and make some sweet homestyle pickled beets. We also get making Borscht Soup Recipe with the extra beets we had. Today we canned lots of pickled carrots with garlic, fresh garden dill, and spices for winter That means winter is on it's way and we have a lot to do! Harvesting the garden we got a 5 gallon pail full of carrots! Next we can start the home canning process. The carrots we didn't pickle are stored in the fridge and will be eaten in the next few weeks, frozen for winter meals or made into borscht soup when we harvest the beets in the coming weeks. We picked up a home canning tool set from our local Canadian Tire and we show you the jarring process and harvest our carrots, potato and dill a Great Alberta Gardening Harvest. Next we show you around our Future Steel Building shop and update you on the progress; What a process this build has been! It's going to be a long cold winter here in Alberta and even know fall is technically not for a few weeks it feels like it's already here. Paddling with Kids is always a fun time! Coal Lake Alberta is a amazing place to travel to with the family this summer it is 11km Long with a max depth of 18ft. It has 2 boat launches, 1 at the North end off Hwy 616 and the other on the South end off hwy 13 with a small campground. The lake CAN BE ROUGH TO PADDLE ON AND THERE IS NO WHERE TO HIDE FROM THE WIND. HOWEVER we find mornings the lake is calm and a beautiful place to paddle with the family in our Clipper Cascade Canoe. today we were cleaning up some things on the acreage and i thought we could talk about the difference between RV vs Trailer, 5th wheel vs a RV vs travel trailer vs a goose neck and the pro's or con's of each. we check out my dads 1939 Plymouth before he sells it. We also talk about things to think about before you buy one. 5th Wheels are a bit heavy and stuck with a truck with a 5th wheel hitch installed in the box of the truck. with a trailer you can pull with any truck our a suv depending on the wight of the trailer. On Sunday July 12th we decided to load up the canoe and head out to Telford lake and go paddling to start the day. Had a snack on the water found a beaver and ducks.(Lots of Waterfowl) Paddled all the way to the far end. after a great morning adventure Veronica got her kite stuck in a tree! Sunday fun Day mike had to clime the tree to retrieve the kite after the fun we had we got some yard work with our ford tractor just before it started to storm again! Rain Rain Rain!
