Netflix's The Sandman was ok, I guess, whatever
The Sandman continues Netflix's trend of starting off a new series ok and then a few episodes in the quality falls off a cliff. The show does have some of Neil Gaiman's excellent use of mythology and dialogue, but overall the series suffers from horrible changes. It seems as though there were too many cooks in the kitchen each person making changes to fit his or her own agenda.

In defense of Ya Boi Zack
Ya Boi Zack, also known as Richard C Meyer, has been on of the leading voices in independent comics since he came onto the YouTube scene in 2017. He took on industry pros criticizing them for what he saw as the reasons for the American comic book industry's problems. Through his channel Comics Matter (originally Diversity in Comics) he changed the landscape for indie creators by promoting crowdfunded comics. Industry pushback on his videos lead to them calling him "comicsgate" which is a movement of independent creators who don't wish to kowtow to people working for Marvel and DC. Zack has recently caused controversy by selling his new book for $1 and refusing to do livestreams.

Quin Howard's: Tadhya review or You can't put lipstick on a pig
Among the new comics 2022 is Quinn Howard's (aka Quinn's Ideas). Quinn came to fame by hosting a YouTube channel that covered George RR Martin's, A Song of Ice and Fire. He has since branched out into Dune. Tadhya is Quinn's first foray into comic writing.
While Matt Weldon's does an amazing job on pencils and inks, the writing and colors leave a lot to be desired. The writing reads like more of a novel as opposed to writing for a visual medium. In many places the colors mar Weldon's work flattening it or otherwise making it hard to read.

Von Klaus Campaign Censorship and the Case for Having your own Web Store
Yesterday in independent comics, Von Klaus had a complaint made against his Terror in the Trenches campaign on Indiegogo. As a result he needs to remove and refund one of his perks before Indiegogo will release the campaign funds to Von Klaus, unfortunately they didn't say which perk it was. This dovetails into another recent discussion which is: crowdfunding vs. having your own web store. This incident really makes the case that even if you crowdfund you need to have your own web store to a heckler's veto canceling your project.
