Cave Diving Florida's Peacock Springs - Gateway to the Aquifer
We return to Wes Skiles Peacock Springs State Park in North Florida and do what Cave Divers consider a "traverse." We entered at the main Spring at P1 Peacock Springs, travel through some amazing underground passage and finally exit in Olson Sink about 1400 feet away in the middle of the forest. Peacock Springs has an amazing maze of tunnels. In total there is 7 possible entrance points to this system.

Cave diving the stunning Mexican cenotes under the jungle
Return trip to the stunning caves of Mexico. This time inside Cenote's Fenomeno & Concha which are close to each other inside the jungle after about a 30 minute drive down some rough dirt roads. On our last dive inside Fenomeno we got to see Ancient Sloth Bones inside a small side passage. Amazing fossil to see preserved in time.

Cave diving the world's largest underwater cave system
Cave diving one of the most beautifully decorated caves in the Yucatan. Cenote Nohoch Nah Chich meaning "Giant Bird cage" is a vast system of highly decorated tunnels underneath the jungle near Tulum, Mexico. Today we dove the Parker line for about 3k ft penetration in the shallow system which allows for long dives on doubles 2+ hrs. We also dove the mainline through "Heavens gate."
This cave system is part of Sistema Sac Actum which is the longest surveyed underwater cave system in the world.

Best Cavern Dive in Florida? Buford Springs, Florida
Located inside Chaz Wildlife Management Area just north of Weeki Wachee Florida is one of if not the best Cavern dive in the state. Huge Cavern with Crystal Clear Viz most of the year with a max depth around 167 feet.
We used to dive Buford climbing through the swamp in knee deep mud to reach it. Nowadays after reaching the parking area it's about a 1/2 mile walk on marked trail until you reach the new boardwalk that is about a football field walk to reach the spring. Better to reach this site in gear during the cooler (less bugs) and non rainy season because the surrounding swamp occasionally floods.

Underwater Cave Diving Florida - Peacock Springs
Peacock Springs State Park has one of the best and complex cave systems in the state of Florida. On this dive we enter at Orange Grove Sink and penetrate about 1,100 feet before jumping to a side tunnel that is named the "Distance Tunnel" for a reason.

Quick Dive in the USS Spiegel Grove (LSD-32)
This Giant 510ft Navy ship nicknamed "top dog" was sunk in 2002 and ranges in depth from 65ft at the top deck to 135 at the vessel's hull. One can dive this with an advanced open water training for many of the swim throughs or as a tech/deco dive to reach the deeper and further penetration dives such as the engine room.

Swamp Diving In Buford Springs Cavern, Florida
Buford Sink is hidden inside Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge in Hernando County, FL and is the second largest Cavern in Florida. Although very difficult to reach the site, it’s well work the effort to dive what many consider the most beautiful cavern in the state. Inconspicuous from the surface, Buford's Cavern zone turns into an enormous ballroom that regularly has over 100 ft of visibility.
After finding the location you will have to walk about half a mile from the nearest dirt road, then about a 150 yard difficult climb through the mud swamp with all your gear on. At times, knee deep to waist deep mud to work through. Very easy to get lost in the swamp (we learned the hard way on a previous attempt) here so bring a diver who knows its location and it’s a good idea to use trail marker ribbons.

Underwater Cave Diving - "Lost Student Tunnel" Jackson Blue Springs
Music by Mario Prez
https://music.apple.com/us/artist/mario-prez/1635365332
We returned to Jackson Blue in Marianna, Florida last week to do a few dives inside the massive Jackson Blue Springs Cave system. JB is a massive system (11,000 ft of surveyed passageway) but is known for unlimited visibility and high flow. This dive we jumped to the "Lost Student" tunnel which is a no flow, narrow and silty tunnel which is used commonly to recreate a zero viz exit and lost buddy environment in full cave class with an instructor.

Best Shipwreck Dive in the Caribbean? - USS KITTIWAKE - Grand Cayman Island
USS KITTIWAKE WRECK. Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, British West Indies.
251 long ship with 5 accessible decks to dive with great VIZ.
History:
Designed as a submarine supply ship, the USS Kittiwake was built in Savannah, Georgia, USA. It launched on July 10th, 1945 and was assigned to support and rescue duty with Submarine Squadron 6. In the 1950's she was stationed in the Atlantic and served "silent service" ships. In July of 1960 the USS Kittiwake stood ready to assist the George Washington, which launched the first successful Polaris ballistic missiles.
During the 1960's she continued to support submarines in Rota, Spain, and Greece. She then assisted with search and recovery of torpedoes while stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. In late 1965 the Kittiwake assisted in the recovery of a German submarine (S-171).
In 1984 the Kittiwake collided with the the attack submarine USS Bergall. The cause was a miss-wired main drive which caused it to operate in the opposite direction than expected. The bridge personnel saw the submarine approaching and ordered an increase in speed to avoid the collision. This resulted in the stern of the Kittiwake hitting the Bergall's sonar dome.
The USS Kittiwake was decommissioned on September 30, 1994 and then purchased by the Cayman Islands government in 2004. In July 2010 she was sunk off the west coast of Grand Cayman and became an artificial reef. Come and explore this amazing historical wreck dive today!

Giant Manta Ray Night Dive In Hawaii
Great experience doing this night dive with the Giant Manta Rays off the coast of Kona, Hawaii. We dove to the bottom of the coast of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii to dive with these amazing pelagic animals. Our lights attracted the plankton which these gigantic animals feed off of. Some of the Manta's were over 18 feet wide.
