Wells Swans looking very Sassy
Wells is famous for their Swans that live on the Bishop's Palace Moat and this year the youngsters are gaining their confidence and looking very sassy.

Wells Funeral Services
The funeral procession usually begins with the funeral director walking in front of the hearse for a short distance. This is not only a mark of respect to the person who has died but gives family and friends time to join the procession in their vehicles.
The practice of walking in front of the hearse dates also from Dickensian times, when funerals were horse-drawn.
The senior Undertaker or Funeral director would walk in front of the cortege to slow the procession down in order to allow passers-by to pay their respects.
This procedure was called ‘Paging Away’ and symbolically is carried out today where the Funeral Director will walk for a fairly short distance in front of the hearse before getting into it to continue to the place of burial/cremation.

Shakespeare's - As You Like It in Wells, Somerset
Summer evening on the lawn of the Bishop's Palace to watch 'As You Like It". Part of the 4-day. Wells Theatre Festival.
Wells Theatre Festival 2023
On Sunday at the Bishop's Palace, the sun shone on a gathering of the volunteer teams, supporters and sponsors of this year's Wells Theatre Festival.
Who doesn't love live theatre? With venues including Cedar's Hall, Wells Museum, Cathedral Green and of course, Shakespear's 'As You Like It' in the gardens of the Bishop's Palace.
And I've been asked to provide video support for the four days, so watch this space for updates.

Strawberry Line Wells
The Old Railway line that used to run through Wells, transporting Cheddar's famous Strawberries to London was shut by Dr Beeching. Since then it has become a walking and cycling walkway with plans to open it up to Shepton Mallet in the future.
Alongside is a small wood that takes back to Wells via the Palace Field.

Wells Funeral Services - Wells Cemetery
Wells Cemetery is in such a beautiful position to the West of the City and is maintained to a high standard. I was asked to make this film for Wells Funeral Services to feature their celebrant, Nicky Sutton, who on this occasion led the funeral procession for the first time.

Sunday Walk in Wells at 6 am
As part of the #75hardchallenge, I have a 45-minute walk at 6 am and there was no one around this morning. The sun had risen. I love filming against the sun for the effect it provides, especially through trees (see if you agree). The Palace fields (and a working dairy farm - not shown) are so close to the City Centre. I don't know why I haven't discovered this walk earlier. Enjoy.
Filmed on the Insta360 1 RS with music from Epidemic Sound, in this instance Pa Na Ma by Giants' Nest.

Getting Ready for Wells Market Day
Wells at 6 am is getting ready for market day,. This video has everything. Swan, a white van illegally parked overnight, blocked traders' ability to trade. And, once again, I get attacked by marauding pigeons. Fortunately, neither pigeons nor the cameraman were harmed in the making of this film.

Hewlett & Holdsworth
Hewlett & Holdsworth has a barber shop in Wells. They are my barbers and very good. Great atmosphere and today I introduced them to the Insta 360 1-inch camera in the way of a promotional video for their business. Ideal for social media, the 360 camera stops the scroll and demonstrates how, with a little bit of editing skill a local business can use video to promote their business.
Mirrorless, Action, 360 or Drone. Check out https://www.videocrew.uk for more creative ideas for using video in local business marketing.

Meeting Gabriel
Meeting Gabriel on the Bishop's Moat in Wells, Somerset. A lovely start to the day and especially exciting as I had a meeting with Gabriel, the Bishop's Palace resident swan.
He is particularly miffed because one of his offspring is refusing to leave Wells, something they are required to do.
In Conversation with Alyson Roach

Mendip Hospital opened in 1848 as the Somerset and Bath Pauper Lunatic Asylum at Horrington, near Wells, in the English county of Somerset.
