Video Marketing for Business
Where I'm told I have the edge when it comes to video is that primarily, I understand marketing. I understand brand marketing. I worked for an international company for many years, and I understand small business marketing. And I've probably worked and helped somebody that does what you do.
And so when somebody comes to me with a request for some photography for their restaurant or their products or whatever, the first question I ask is What do you want it to do? Where is it gonna fit into your marketing process?
Because there's no point in spending money on photography or videography.if your marketing process is not complete, if it's not joined up. Because you'll spend money in one direction, but that business will slip through a porous marketing process.
If any of that resonates, then let's jump on a call and see whether there's a fit between us. See if we can identify the real issues because I'm going to be asking you, "Where are you headed and what's been stopping you?" Song - The Worry Tree from the Lamplighter
World Premier of the Lamplighter. Saturday 18th November 19:00 - 20:30.
Prepare to be transported into a magical world by this original modern fairy tale, narrated from the pulpit of Wells Cathedral, and brought to life by orchestral, vocal and visual creativity.
Immerse yourselves in one man’s journey from innocence and young love, through loss and grief. Join us as he throws himself at the mercy of an enchanted forest in whose dark heart he is offered healing and transformation, and the chance to become a man of destiny, a man who, some people say, is known as - The Lamplighter.
This performance is supporting Young Minds UK.
The Lamplighter was conceived by Wells-born Martin Quartermain and is part of a larger creative endeavour "Fight or Flight Creatives" to support young people who need help and don’t know where to find it.

Setting Up for another Wells Market
Wells was granted charters to hold markets in the twelfth century by Bishop Robert, (1136–66).
Yes, bustling markets are held twice weekly in the historic Market Place, continuing a tradition dating back nearly 900 years, to when Wells was granted weekly markets in the city's first charter.
Wells Museum Gardens
Wells and Mendip Museum is very popular but I wonder how many visitors realise that behind the building, volunteers have created a wonderful garden, to be enjoyed by all.

Wells Market Place Fountain
The Rotary Wishing Well in the marketplace, Wells. Wells takes its name from three wells dedicated to Saint Andrew, one in the market place and two within the grounds of the Bishop's Palace and cathedral. A small Roman settlement surrounded them, which grew in importance and size under the Anglo-Saxons when King Ine of Wessex founded a minster church there in 704.
The community became a trading centre based on cloth making and Wells is notable for its 17th-century involvement in both the English Civil War and the Monmouth Rebellion. In the 19th century, transport infrastructure improved with stations on three different railway lines. However, since 1964 the city has been without a railway link. Wells Food Festival 2023
The Annual Wells Food Festival enjoyed one of the warmest days in recent weeks and this brought in the crowds. Certainly, the busiest I've ever seen it. What a wonderful selection of local foods and drinks.

Steve Jobs Stanford University Address
In 2005 Steve Jobs addressed the graduating students at Stanford University to share three stories looking back on his life, at that date. In doing so he was able to 'connect the dots'. Truly inspiring. In this speech, there is something for all of us to reflect on.

A lovely day to walk into Wells via the bridle path (Torr Hill Lane).
Rachel Goodison at Wells Art Contemporary
Rachel Goodison was one of the talented artists who exhibited at Wells Art Contemporary this year. I was fortunate to be asked to capture the essence of the exhibits through video. I hope I have complimented the artist's vision.
Huddled together, “Hatchings’ is a play on organic shapes found within nature and humans. Magnified, on a human scale, it stands as a reminder that we are part of nature, created from the same shared matter - something we forget at nature’s cost.
Ultimately, this is a work of hope and comfort. Bright and soft, the ‘feelers’ reach upwards, echoing the soaring movement of the cathedral’s pillars and arches towards the heavens

Somerset Wedding - Drone Footage
Friends Andy and Ellie decided to get married after 33 years and they kindly asked me to take drone photographs of the pre-dinner drinks with their friends and family at the wedding breakfast. Whilst they only commissioned photographs, I couldn't resist shooting a video to capture the occasion for the couple to enjoy later.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did in the air. Note, " I do" not do wedding photography or videography but am happy to support the excellent wedding photographers in Somerset with some valuable b-roll to accompany the occasion.
Soundtrack: Kreuzberg Walk - Wendy Marcini

Wells Moat Boat Races 2023
The Annual Moat Boat Races in Wells raise money for local charities. Here I arrived for the final two races. Great fun, although I felt some crews use aggressive manoeuvres at the start to the race to try to gain leader advantage.
Do I need a Teleprompter?
Do I need a Teleprompter? While teleprompters offer the allure of a polished delivery, they often detract from the authentic you. Each time you step in front of a camera, you're not just selling a product or idea; you're also selling yourself. And in that equation, authenticity weighs far more than word-perfect delivery.

When Your Words Sabotage Success.
There is power in our choice of words. Do they reveal certainty or self-doubt?
Are we tentative or confident when we take action? Do we convey certainty when we communicate with potential clients? People don't just hear what you say, they hear how you say it and read between the lines.
Your self-conscious mind is also listening to what you say and how you say it and yes, you may be sabotaging your success and not know why.
Wells Cathedral Somerset
Wells Cathedral is an Anglican cathedral in Wells, Somerset, England, dedicated to St Andrew the Apostle. It is the seat of the Bishop of Bath and Wells, whose cathedra it holds as the mother church of the Diocese of Bath and Wells.
Built as a Roman Catholic cathedral from around 1175 to replace an earlier church on the site in 705, it became an Anglican cathedral when King Henry VIII split from Rome.
It is moderately sized for an English cathedral. Its broad west front and large central tower are dominant features. It has been called "unquestionably one of the most beautiful" and "most poetic" of English cathedrals.

Wells Funeral Services at Wells Cemetery
Wells Cemetery is a beautifully kept cemetery in the City of Wells. On the southwest edge of the City on the road to Cheddar, it is considered to be one of the best-kept cemeteries in Somerset.
This particular burial was conducted by Wells Funeral Services, who have considerably more five-star Google reviews than any funeral business on the Mendips.

75hard challenge done
75hard at 76 years of age. I completed 75 hard on Monday and a number of people have asked me "What is #75hard?" or "What is the #75hardchallenge?"
The #75hardprogram is a mental toughness challenge over 75 days straight. Fall short on any element required each day and you have to start again on day one. I guess it's a measure of your character, your ability to commit and stick at something, however tough it gets. And it gets tough, trust me.
"It's about doing the thing you said you would do, long after the mood in which you said it has left you."
This is what I have learned from my experience of my #75hardjourney ...
