British-Indian student faces trial over a joke #airplane #joke #prank #spain #court
A British-Indian student was charged with public disorder after he made a joke to friends about being a member of the Taliban and planning to blow up a flight from London to Spain's Menorca in 2022. He admitted to telling his friends, "On my way to blow up the plane. I'm a member of the Taliban."
However, he insisted that he had made the joke in a private Snapchat group and never intended to "cause public distress".
The message was sent to friends, before boarding the plane, went on to be picked up by UK security services. They then flagged it to Spanish authorities while the easyJet plane was still in the air. Two Spanish F-18 fighter jets were sent to flank the aircraft.

International Student Cap in Canada🇨🇦
The Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship announced on January 22, 2024 that the Government of Canada will set an intake cap on international student permit applications to stabilize new growth for a period of two years. For 2024, the cap is expected to result in approximately 360,000 approved study permits, a decrease of 35% from 2023.
IRCC will allocate a portion of the cap to each province and territory. To implement the cap, every study permit application submitted to IRCC will also require an attestation letter from a province or territory.
Open work permits will only be available to spouses of international students in master’s and doctoral programs.
