During my Army career, I transitioned from an Infantryman to working in Counterintelligence."

Education Matters: Interview with Kofi Annan
Dr. Jackson continues his "Black Excellence in Education" series. This episode featured an in-depth interview with Kofi Annan.
Kofi is the author of the award-winning book, "Bull in a China Shop: Evolution of a Racial Justice Activist." He founded The Activated People (TAP), an independent activist organization that is dedicated to promoting racial equity. Kofi previously served two terms as the president of the Fairfax County, Virginia National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), which was awarded the NAACP’s Thalheimer Award for being the best branch in the country. He is also the owner of Soul Rebel, a family-owned food truck based in northern Virginia that serves a unique blend of Caribbean-American fusion cuisine.
Kofi served eight years in the U.S Army, and holds a Master’s of Science in International Relations from Troy University, and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology from Tennessee State University.

Education Matters: The Black Student Fund: Education That WORKS For America's Black Youth
Continuing on the theme of "Black Excellence In Education" Dr. Harry Jackson takes a look at the "Black Student Fund" with his special guest, BSF Executive Director, Leroy Nesbitt, Jr. who is a social engineer and lawyer with more than thirty years experience in the education arena.
Leroy Nesbitt, Jr. is a graduate of Middlebury College and Howard University School Of Law. Following his graduation from law school he clerked for the Honorable George W. Mitchell, Associate Judge Superior Court of the District of Columbia. He then returned to Howard University serving as associate general counsel and directing the Moot Court Team at the School of Law. His work in the education arena continued at his undergraduate alma mater Middlebury College as Special Assistant to the President. He presently serves as Executive Director of the Black Student Fund. During his more than thirty years in the education industry Leroy has worked as arbitrator, lawyer, professor, administrator, programmer and consultant. He has worked with colleges in nine states and high schools in more than forty cities.
Leroy has served as the General Counsel for the DC Chapter of Concerned Black Men, Inc.; Treasurer, Dianne Princess of Wales Memorial Fund (US), Board member of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; Education Transition committee of Mayor Sharon Pratt Kelly and Board Member Stride: The Wright Foundation for Female Athletes. Board member of the Daniel Alexander Payne Com-munity Development Corporation; Program chair for the DC-Maryland -Virginia, Athletes in Action and a consultant for College For Every Student.
During his thirty years in education Leroy has worked to address underrepresentation of people of color and women in STEM. Working in collaboration with the New England Board of Higher Education Leroy launched an effort to place students at Vermont colleges in graduate and doctoral programs in STEM. He advises the Percy Julian Institute Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Medicine pro-gram of the Daniel Alexander Payne Community Development Corporation working with middle school students. At the Black Student Fund he created BSF STEM and gaming develop program teaching kids how to code.
He is married to Dr. Debony Hughes and has two daughters Nina and Malayna. Leroy has a Black Memorabilia collection with more than 500 items.

ABOUT OUR GUESTS: Bernard "Berney" Flowers
Mr. Bernard “Berney” Flowers is running for Congress in Maryland's 2nd Congressional District. With a career that spans over 33 years of combined experience in the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the private sector, Berney brings a wealth of expertise to bear. He served nearly 21 years on active duty in the US Air Force, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During his Air Force career, Berney deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan, and “visited” twenty- two countries and forty-three states in the performance of his duties. He was also assigned to the US Air Force’s “Air Staff” when the Pentagon was attacked on Sept 11, 2001. After retiring from active duty Berney worked at United Services Automobile Association (USAA) as a Project Manager, leading matrixed teams in the development and implementation of computer software deliverables supporting the release of financial products and services worth nearly $50 million. In 2009, he returned to DoD as a civilian employee, where he served as part of US Cyber Command’s initial staff and as NORAD & USNORTHCOM’s Sr. Advisor to Ft Meade. Most recently, he served as NORAD & USNORTHCOM’s Sr. Advisor to the DHS.
Berney holds two Graduate Certificates in Cyber Leadership, a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, and a BA in Political Science. He is a graduate of the US Air Force’s Air War College and he is a Certified Project Manager. His National Security experience is focused in the fields of Cybersecurity, Information Operations, Operations Security, Satellite Communications, Program Management, and Information Management.
Maryland's Governor recently appointed Berney to the State's Trial Courts Judicial Nominating Commission for District 9 - Howard County. Md.
Berney is a proud husband of 33 years, a father of two successful young adult children and a new grandfather. He volunteers locally through his church and his fraternity and is a mentor to many. He enjoys traveling, gardening, target shooting and entertaining friends.
PAUL LOTT:
Paul Lott is the Founder of the National Society for the Advancement of Black Americans (NSABA.org), an organization formed in the aftermath of the George Floyd riots as a needed counter-balance to the false racial narrative being pushed in America. The NSABA focuses on data and evidence-based solutions of race and poverty. Mr. Lott is an alumni of Harvard College, a U.S. Army veteran, father, author, and long-time education activist. He is a candidate for Congress in Virginia's 10th Congressional District, running on a platform for parent's rights, banning CRT, and education reform.

Coalition for TJ Co-Founder Asra Nomani Confronts FCPS Board and SECURITY
A large group of protesters gathered at the FCPS school board meeting space on March 10th, 2022 to rally in support of the Thomas Jefferson High School for Math and Science's admissions process and to protest FCPS's decision to fight a recent court ruling which deemed their admissions process "unconstitutional". USANOW.TV's Coleman Bunn was present at the rally and shot this video of Asra Nomani giving a powerful speech to the board and then immediately being confronted by FCPS security.
