The state of civil liberties is... not good
While the Covid era has come to an end, the courts are still filled with cases of people who were targeted by the Orwellian regime that covered Canada for the better part of three years. In many cases, constitutional challenges have fallen on deaf ears, with courts giving wide latitude to governments. In this edition of The Andrew Lawton Show, Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms president John Carpay joins for a check-in on the state of civil liberties in Canada and whether we should be pessimistic, optimistic, or somewhere in between.

The Marxist PURGE of Canadian culture and history
On Friday, socialist mayor of Toronto Olivia Chow, with the backing of a majority of city councillors, voted to erase any mention of Henry Dundas in Toronto, a Scottish abolitionist from the 17th century. This includes the renaming of two transit stations, the entirety of Dundas street and most controversial, the renaming of Yonge-Dundas Square to “Sankofa Square” — a word from the Akan tribe in Ghana who were prolific slave traders.
The facts don’t matter to cultural Marxists who are committed to erasing the entirety of Canadian history. They will side step the truth on their quest to convince you that Canada is a country built on slavery and racism. The constant statue toppling, renaming and historical purging is designed demoralize you and to beat any pride of Canada out of you.
The sooner we all realize what is really going on, the better.
Harrison Faulkner is joined by Jennifer Dundas, a former crown prosecutory and journalist and a relative of Henry Dundas to debunk the lies about him.

Jordan Peterson offers to take over as Harvard president
Renowned psychologist and author Jordan Peterson had jokingly offered to take over as Harvard president following a plagiarism scandal embroiling the Ivy League school's current president, Claudine Gay, and backlash to the school's light touch when it comes to rampant on-campus antisemitism. In a post on X, Peterson hinted that he has a "proven academic track record, a now-international reputation, and the ability to stand up to the bloody narcissists of the woke mob." Would you support a Peterson takeover of the Ivy League?
Also, the House of Commons has voted to advance a bill requiring age verification to access online pornography, with only the Liberals opposed. True North's Andrew Lawton says the goal of keeping porn away from children is a noble one, but this bill is the wrong way to do it.
Plus, Prof. Tom Flanagan joins the show to discuss his new book "Grave Error," an anthology challenging the mainstream media and establishment narrative about residential schools and unmarked graves.

He discusses with ClimateDepot.com publisher Marc Morano
Also, a new anthology gives former Ontario premier Mike Harris his due as a "transformational premier" who influenced Ontario politics and Canadian politics. Alister Campbell, editor of "The Harris Legacy," joins the show to discuss.

Jagmeet Singh claims victory over dental care plan
Jagmeet Singh and the NDP are doing a victory lap after the Liberals unveiled a plan to provide dental insurance for up to nine million low-income, uninsured Canadians. However, the program is an exapnsion of an existing one that already covered children. Moreover, the "universal national pharmacare" plan laid out in the NDP/Liberal supply and confidence agreement is still nowhere to be found. Jagmeet Singh has underdelivered yet again – but still thinks he won, True North's Andrew Lawton says.
Also, Macdonald-Laurier Institute managing director Brian Lee Crowley on why supporting Israel is in Canada's national interests.
Plus, the Fraser Institute's Jake Fuss on why Canadian generosity is at a record low.

Why are they blaming Pierre Poilievre for THIS?
It’s Fake News Friday on the Candice Malcolm Show!
Today, Candice walks us through the latest faux outrage fake news narrative that the legacy media has directed at the Leader of the Opposition.
Last week, Liberal Heritage Minister Pascale St-Onge said that the CBC would indeed be entitled to a significant portion of the $100M the Trudeau government managed to squeeze out of Google to pay out to the dying legacy media in Canada.
This, of course, would be in addition to the approximately $1.3B CBC gets from taxpayers each and every year.
It was a little odd, then, that CBC this week announced that it would be laying off between 600 and 700 employees.
Merry Christmas! Not so much at the state broadcaster.
To add insult to injury, CBC’s hopeless CEO Catherine Tate was interviewed on her own network and couldn’t seem to answer the basic question of whether executives would be receiving Christmas bonuses this year. The Canadian Taxpayers Federation revealed that CBC paid out some $16M last year in executive bonuses alone.
Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre noticed this, and posted about it on social media.
Well, apparently, according to our brilliant legacy media, this makes Poilievre the real villain of the story.
See their silly reactions and watch Candice break down the facts and explain how Twitter contributed to the total breakdown of trust in the Canadian media.

This is a low point in the history of Parliament: political scientist
Many Canadians believe utter falsehoods about Canada’s residential school program.
After an absolute bombshell of an accusation leveled by in 2021 – that human remains had been discovered in unmarked graves near a residential school in Kamloops BC – the legacy media took these accusations and weaved together one of the most destructive fake news narratives in Canada’s history.
On today’s episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by author and historian Dr. Tom Flanagan to discuss his new book, Grave Error: How the Media Misled Us (And the Truth about Residential Schools).
Dr. Flanagan walks the audience through the real history behind residential schools and discusses many of the falsehoods Canadians believe about this program.
They discuss why and how the media got this story so wrong, the incentives behind the false narrative and their efforts to correct the record on this issue.
Dr. Flanagan explains how a moral panic led all Parliamentarians to unanimously support a motion falsely and recklessly declaring that Canada committed “genocide” – calling the episode a “low point in the history of Parliament.”
You can buy a copy of Grave Error here: https://tnc.news/grave-error/
Every Canadian should read this important book!

Ontario MPP: “Put the IRGC – the ruling party of Iran – on the Canadian terrorist list”
Today on the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by Ontario PC MPP Goldie Ghamari.
Ghamari is a proud Canadian and advocates for immigrants like herself to put Canada first and to embrace Canadian values. Growing up, her parents always told her: “Always remember that first and foremost you are a proud Canadian.”
She is now an outspoken critic of terrorism and extremism in Canada, and sometimes even gets called “Islamophobic” by those who seek to minimize terrorism or defend the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In their interview today, Ghamari says it’s time that Canada lists the paramilitary branch of the Iranian government – the IRGC – as a terrorist entity so that our government can freeze their Canadian assets and expel senior members of the regime who live in Canada.

Andrew Tate is a villain, not a victim
Andrew Tate is a self-described manipulator, pimp, and pornographer, yet he's also become a curious hero for some on the right who see him as a victim of cancel culture. The truth, True North's Andrew Lawton says, is that the enemy of your enemy isn't always your friend. He discusses with journalist and author Jonathon Van Maren.
Also, the federal government is still considering a criminal ban on residential school "denialism." Andrew explains why that's so dangerous for free speech.
Plus, why are more parents opting out of the public system and sending their kids to independent schools. Paige Macpherson from the Fraser Institute joins to dig in.

National Citizens Inquiry delivers scathing report on Covid measures
Canada's first ever citizen-led inquiry, the National Citizens Inquiry into the country's Covid-19 response, has come to a close, issuing its commissioners' final report this morning. The report exposes harms caused by lockdowns, vaccine mandates, and other Covid interventions by the government, calling on the government to put civil liberties front and centre moving forward. The commissioners said their investigation "unveiled a troubling mix of hubris, ignorance, arrogance, fear, and a shocking disregard for fundamental principles of human rights, medical ethics, and our longstanding democratic and legal foundations." While the inquiry is damning, it has no official status and was boycotted by all invited public officials. Does it matter? True North's Andrew Lawton discusses with National Citizens Inquiry administrator Ches Crosbie.
Also, a Liberal member of parliament is blaming Pierre Poilievre and the "far-right" for a shooting in Winnipeg.

Another media freakout over Pierre Poilievre challenging a reporter
Another day, another tense press conference featuring Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre and the legacy media. Poilievre challenged a Canadian Press reporter's question in an exchange that has legacy media talking heads calling him a "bully" and predicting he'll lose the election. They're used to no one challenging them, True North's Andrew Lawton says.
These are the journalists Justin Trudeau just announced even more money for. Kris Sims from the Canadian Taxpayers Federation joins the show to discuss.
Plus, the NDP is reportedly going to give the Liberals an extension on coming up with a pharmacare plan and won't be pulling their support from them for failing to do so by the end of this year.
Also, a new report from C2C Journal exposes the "dangers and delusions" of central bank digital currencies, which the Bank of Canada is actively exploring. Author Gleb Lisikh weighs in.

How should Canada respond to pro-Hamas rallies?
Pro-Hamas rallies are taking place in cities across Canada, with protesters siding with the designated terrorist group and defending Hamas' atrocious attacks on Israel. Do these protesters have a right to voice their opinions?
True North’s Rupa Subramanya joins Candice Malcolm to debate the limits of free speech and how Canada should respond to the pro-Hamas rallies taking place across our country.

Media goes into overdrive to attack Poilievre
The legacy media has lost their collective minds because Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre quoted a media report that said the Rainbow Bridge explosion on Wednesday was being treated as a terrorist attack.
On Thursday, a Canadian Press report attempted to embarrass Poilievre, but the Conservative leader stood his ground.
In response, the media has gone into overdrive to cover for the Liberals and attack Poilievre – even going as far as accusing him of being an “intellectual bully.” Typical.

Do Canadians need a charter of economic rights? (feat. Frank Stronach)
The last few years has brought about significant discussions about rights and freedoms in Canada. Our Charter guarantees no economic protections, however. Magna International founder Frank Stronach has launched a new initiative, the Stronach Foundation for Economic Rights, which seeks a charter of economic rights for Canadians.
Stronach sat down with True North’s Andrew Lawton for an extensive discussion about his economic vision first Canada.

SCANDAL: Violent men wreaking havoc inside women’s prisons
Thanks to a complete failure to report on this scandal from the legacy media, few Canadians know that violent men are wreaking havoc inside women’s prisons in Canada. The Trudeau government has allowed violent male sex offenders who claim to be women to be transferred to women’s prisons and there’s nothing that female inmates can do about it.
On this episode of Ratio’d, Harrison is joined by Heather Mason, a former convict who has devoted her life to speaking up on this under reported scandal and being a voice for women behind bars.

This is what “decolonization” really means
Decolonization is a radical Leftist theory that has been pushed and promoted in institutions across Canada. Professors, students, politicians and journalists have all bought into this warped academic theory.
So what exactly does it mean?
Well, the radical Left has repeated told us what they mean by decolonization. It’s time we take them seriously and listen to what they are saying.
Decolonization, according to radical Leftists, simply means October 7th-style massacres. It means mass murder of so-called settlers (what we call civilians).
On this episode, Candice unpacks this radical ideology and explains how extremists have taken over Canada’s institutions. She talks about the extremism we’re seeing on university campuses and how to put a stop to it.
Plus, True North’s Rupa Subramanya joins Candice to debate the limits of free speech and how Canada should respond to the pro-Hamas rallies taking place across our country.

Liberal fiscal update brings more taxes, more spending, more debt
The Liberals delivered their fall fiscal update yesterday, painting a grim picture of Canada's finances despite Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland's claim that Canada is not and never has been "broken." The update shows more spending, more deficits, and more taxes, with millions more going to bailing out Canadian journalists and ballooning debt servicing costs. True North's Andrew Lawton discusses with Conservative finance critic Jasraj Singh Hallan.
Plus, the federal government has vowed to fight to defend its plastics ban despite a court finding it was unconstitutional. What does this mean for Canadian industry? Catherine Swift of the Coalition of Concerned Manufacturers & Businesses of Canada joins to weigh in.
While antisemitic protests have become a mainstay across the country, Quebec has proven to be a particular hotbed for Jew hatred. National Post Barbara Kay explains why that is.

Human rights commission says Christmas is a "discriminatory" holiday
The Canadian Human Rights Commission has been quiet on six weeks of rampant antisemitic hate and calls for violence against Jews and Israelis, but has published a discussion paper taking aim at the real source of discrimination – Christmas and Easter. The human rights commission says Christmas and Easter being holidays is discriminatory against non-Christians, making Canada a religiously intolerant "settler colonial state." True North's Andrew Lawton discusses with Rebel News founder Ezra Levant.
Plus, a new report from C2C Journal exposes the "dangers and delusions" of central bank digital currencies, which the Bank of Canada is actively exploring. Author Gleb Lisikh joins the show to discuss.

One-quarter of Justin Trudeau's time in office have been "personal" days
An analysis of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's daily itineraries by journalist Glen McGregor reveals that in Trudeau's eight years in office, he's taken 22 months – nearly two years – of "personal" days. This is 24 per cent of his term that has been days off, with no public events or publicly disclosed meetings. True North's Andrew Lawton weighs in.
Legacy media journalists are criticizing Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre for calling the Trudeau government "socialist" – even though one of Trudeau's ministers publicly called himself a "proud socialist" a couple of weeks ago.
Also, the Supreme Court has struck down the federal government's plastics ban as unconstitutional, the latest rebuke of Trudeau's environmental policies. Andrew discusses with the Canadian Taxpayers Federation's Kris Sims.
Plus, does Canada need a top-to-bottom reform of its tax system? Macdonald-Laurier Institute researcher Aaron Wudrick says we do. He joins the show to explain.

Trudeau sides with Hamas
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has long been accused of winking and quietly courting radical Islamists and Jew-haters in Canada. He took that to a whole new level on Tuesday, when he sternly scolded Israel and accused our ally of doing all the things that Hamas is guilty of.
Trudeau is an embarrassment, a fool, and now, he’s firmly come out on Hamas’s side of this conflict.
On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice breaks down Trudeau’s Tuesday press conference, and how he parrots Hamas talking points. She is then joined by True North reporter and host of Ratio’d Harrison Faulkner to talk about why Israel should release the October 7th massacre videos and about how the government funded Anti-Hate Network has been exposed as partisan shills and anti-conservative hypocrites.

Alberta Covid emergency inquiry recommends greater protection of civil liberties
Former Reform Party leader Preston Manning was tapped by the Alberta government to lead an inquiry into Alberta's legislative response to Covid. The panel found that Albertans need better protection against infringements on their rights and freedoms and that Alberta's emergency management agency – not public health officials – should take the lead on emergency response. The panel also recommends against school closures, which it found should only be a last resort and for as short a time as possible. Manning joins True North's Andrew Lawton to discuss the panel's report and recommendations.
