01 - It's a miracle
The first song from our CD ’Christmas all the year’!
Christ chose to leave the glory of His heavenly position to be born as the incarnate man, Jesus. Therefore, when Christmas time arrives, people all over the world celebrate His birth in Bethlehem.
Even though the people of Israel knew about the prophecies proclaiming that Messiah would come, very few realized that He was born in the stable in Bethlehem. The Wise Men were among the very few that anticipated a King, a Saviour, to appear at that time in history.
He promised to come again and take us home so ‘that where I am, there you may be also’. We must be watchful so we don’t repeat history and forget this wonderful promise. The Bible tells us that He is coming soon. Make sure you are among those who are ready to receive your Saviour when He comes a second time. Then we can celebrate His first coming, and joyfully wait for His second coming.

At The End Of The Days
Daniel The Prophet - In chapter 10, after Daniel had mourned for three weeks, he was again visited by a man clothed in linen. The meeting was so powerful for Daniel that he lost all of his strength. He saw nothing good in himself, only his own wretchedness. But, a hand raised him up and said, heed these words I will speak to you, dearly beloved man. I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people at the end of days, for this is again, a vision of those days.
Gabriel had explained what was going to happen at the beginning, the first 490 years of the long time period in chapter eight. Now he gets to know the rest. It is a detailed description of the story from the time of Daniel, and all the way down to Jesus' second coming. Three kings of Persia are yet to come. It is easy to find out who followed Cyrus. However, not everything that this chapter talks about is easy to understand, but it is possible to find out.
It is important to turn to God and ask for help!
In verses three and four we hear about the mighty king who “does as he pleases”. This is Alexander the Great. When you do as you please and others accept it, that means you have the power.
Next we encounter a power that "does as he pleases," in other words takes dominion, is in verse sixteen. Now we should expect a picture of a new world power, and that is the Romans. Eventually, a tax collector appears in verse twenty. We all remember Caesar Augustus, who sent out a decree that the whole world should be registered. He was Rome's man. It was done to collect taxes. But, it had another effect as well. It brought Jesus' parents to Bethlehem, to the city of David. So that Jesus could be born there, as the Bible had foretold.
The prophecy provides many clues that are worth studying. The war between God and Satan is going on, through the king from the north and the south. Why not sit down and study your Bible. Do not forget that there is a God in heaven who can help you understand. But, you must be open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, open to change your mind. Be willing to spend time and energy. You must humbly turn to heaven and ask God for help to understand. You have to examine the Word.
Chapter 12 begins with the end. And at that time Michael shall stand up. This is Jesus.
The time is approaching for our redemption. Like Daniel, we are longing to go home. Not to Jerusalem in the state of Israel, but to the heavenly Jerusalem, the heavenly Canaan.
The long time prophecy, two thousand three hundred evenings and mornings began with three time periods. Seven weeks, sixty-two weeks, and one week. It also ends with three periods. Twelve hundred and sixty days, twelve hundred and ninety days, and thirteen hundred and thirty-five days. The whole period plus three at the start and three at the end. There are a total of seven time periods, seven times God has set. Many today are not aware of these prophesies. And some are trying to change and erase them.
As for the longest prophecy in Daniel 8-9, many scholars accept that the 1335 days/years prophecy in Daniel 12 also leads us close to 1844. From the baptism of Clovis in 508 to the end of 1843. According to Daniel, a special blessing would be upon those who reached this year. And what happened in 1843? The amazing movement of William Miller brought forth such a religious enthusiasm and blessing never seen before for the hope of the soon return of Jesus, the year before the great disappointment in 1844.
When Jesus talked with his disciples about the end times and the sign of his coming, He mentions the destructive abomination that the prophet Daniel has spoken about. Jesus encourages us to read and understand. We should take that seriously, for there is a God in heaven, and He has revealed to us what is going to happen in the last days.

The Longest Prophecy
Daniel the Prophet - Chapters 8 - 9. Daniel gets another vision in chapter 8. It is Belshazzar's third year of reign, that means the Babylonians are still in power. But in vision he is moved to Persia, to the castle of Susa, in the province of Elam. He sees a ram, and then a goat, and then a little horn. It is the same story as in chapters two and seven, but with more details.
Daniel tried to understand the vision. Suddenly a figure stood before him who looked like a man. Then he hears a voice from between banks of Ulai, calling: Gabriel! Explain the sight to him! He is told that the sight refers to the time of the end. The ram was a picture of the kings of Media and Persia, and that the goat represented the king of Greece. The angel confirms that the vision is about the same issues as in chapters two and seven. About the rise and fall of the world powers. Only that now he started in Media and Persia instead of with Babylon, and as we remember, the vision began with Daniel being taken into the castle of Susa in the province of Elam. There is another reason why, for the entire long period of time, the two thousand three hundred days also began under the Median and Persian rule as Gabriel explains in chapter nine.
The little horn was to grow exceedingly large. All the way up to the army of heaven, and cast down some of the army and of the stars to the earth, and trod them down.
It was Herod, Rome's man in the land of God, who tried to rise above Jesus when he tried to kill all the boys after Jesus was born. There was also a Roman governor, Pilate, who sentenced Jesus to be crucified. It was a Roman emperor, Nero, who sentenced Paul to death. Rome persecuted the God’s people through the Dark Ages, the Reformers, were trampled down. They also threw the truth to the ground. Jesus is referred to in the Bible as the truth. His words and His law are also truth. The little horn has replaced it with other things. We must be watchful so that we do not replace Jesus and His ministry with our perception.
Daniel is stunned by what he sees. He hears one of the holy speak. Another saint said unto him that spoke: How long time does the vision of the perpetual and the destructive apostasy last. In other words, it was a constant apostasy, and a devastating apostasy. The answer that is given is: Two thousand three hundred evenings and mornings, then the sanctuary shall return to its rightful place.
All this gets so challenging for Daniel that he becomes ill. He did not understand what he saw.
In chapter 9, Daniel examines the prophet Jeremiah. He notices the number of the years that the Lord had told the prophet Jeremiah. That he would let seventy years end while Jerusalem was in ruins. He longs to return to Jerusalem. This leads Daniel to pray to God. It is one of the most beautiful prayers in the Bible. He had experienced the apostasy in Jerusalem, the abduction to Babylon, the homesickness tearing at him. The 70 years had soon passed. He confesses his sin, that he himself was part of the apostasy. He also confesses the sin of the people. He thanks God for His mercy and forgiveness.
Then he calls for God to listen to his humble prayer. Let Your face shine over Your destroyed sanctuary God, for your own sake. Lord, My God, turn your ear and hear! Open Your eyes and see our ruins and the city mentioned by your name! It is not our own righteous deeds that we base our humble prayers upon, but your great mercy. Lord, listen! Lord, forgive me! Lord, give heed and do it, do not delay, for your own sake, my God! For your city and your people are called by your name.
Immediately he was visited by the angel Gabriel, whom he already had met in chapter eight. The angel said to him, Daniel, now I have come to help you understand.
What was he to understand? It was about the vision in chapter eight, the two thousand three hundred days. Daniel did not understand. He got sick.
Now Gabriel explains in detail. He first considers a period of seventy weeks, which was cut from the two thousand three hundred days. Gabriel gives us the opportunity to find the starting point, when things should happen. You must know and understand. In other words, we can understand it if we examine the word of God. From the time a word goes out to rebuild Jerusalem, until an Anointed One, a Prince, appears, seven weeks and sixty-two weeks will pass.
The absolute word about rebuilding Jerusalem came in 457 BC. It was a Persian king, Artaxerxes, who gave the decree. Sixty-nine weeks, or 483 years later, we find the time when the anointed was to appear. The anointed one is Jesus. It was at his baptism in 27 AD that he was anointed and began his public ministry. Three and a half years later, in the middle of the seventieth week at Passover 31 AD, Jesus confirms the covenant. He, the Lamb of the true God, dies on the cross, thereby bringing the sacrifices to an end.
It is not often that we meet the angel Gabriel in the Bible, but Gabriel reappears in the Gospel of Luke. He had watched the time, he knew when Jesus would appear. He visits Mary, the mother to be of Jesus, and informs her that the time has come to give birth to Jesus. It was Jesus who came to take people out of apostasy, to seal up sins, to cover up iniquity, and to bring forth eternal righteousness. It was He who sealed the vision and the prophet, who ascended to heaven as our high priest and anointed a Most Holy One there, before beginning His ministry in the sanctuary of heaven.

The Four Beasts
Daniel the Prophet - In chapter 7, Daniel gets a vision. He sees four animals, a lion, a bear, a leopard, and a large and terrible animal with ten horns! Some time later, a small horn appears. This is probably the same story that we find in the dream in chapter two. But, in this reference there are even more details.
The explanation Daniel gets, is that the fourth beast will be different. The other kingdoms had been pagan kingdoms, the fourth kingdom, the Roman Empire, began in the same way, but changed character when Emperor Constantine converted to Christianity.
Later the king of the Franks, Clovis, converted to Catholicism. He united France into a kingdom, and made his army available to the church. The church was then able to take up the fight with the three horns that had to be pulled up to prepare room for the little horn that had eyes like human eyes, and a mouth that spoke arrogant things!
It was God who showed the prophet what was important, the problem arose when the "prophet" did not declare what God had said, but his own view. Both Isaiah and Jeremiah lamented their distress, for those who were the shepherds of God led the people astray. Isaiah says that they slept, that their eyes were closed, that the heads of the prophets were covered.
This is probably the Laodiceans' problem in the Revelation 3:14-22 as well.
The word “bishop” means overseer, one who has the overview and conveys the truth of God. The little horn on the fourth beast had eyes like a human. And, as the text shows us, it was not God's law, or God's truth, that it held high, but instead it was the church’s truths that were at the center.
The problem with the little horn on the fourth beast is that it has eyes like a human, it acts like a seer, a bishop, but it does not have the word of God. It is not “a lamp for our feet and a light on our path.” It replaces the word of God with human thoughts and traditions. The Bible says that it would speak words against the Most High and “think to change times and laws”.
King Nebuchadnezzar had tried to change the image of God, and put up his own image.
But history will repeat itself. There is a power in history that has oppressed the Most High, for one time and times and half a time (3 ½ years), or 42 months, or 1260 days! In Bible prophecy, one day represents 1 year of actual time. And the Bible marks the beginning of this particular prophecy as 538 AD. That puts the end of the prophecy at 1798 AD. What happened at these two “end points”?
In 538 AD, the current pope added military power to his arsenal! In 1798 AD, the pope was taken captive by French general Berthier, by order of Napoleon Bonaparte!
The Catholic church had become a persecuting power. The word “heresy” literally means “to make up one’s own mind”! The Catholic church did not want anyone to “make up their own minds”, but to blindly follow the teachings, not of God’s Word, but of their own popes’ fantasies! The little horn on the fourth beast, with eyes like a human, made himself God, and set aside the word of God and changed the 10 Commandments, the Law that God had written with his own finger!
This church power throughout history has been arrogant and has pitted itself directly against God! Will the Catholic church change? The Bible says it will not change, but will “make war with the saints” and will “overcome them”. (For the full context read Revelation 13:1-8)
But God’s court is ready to make a final ruling!

In The Lion's Den
Daniel the Prophet - Chapter 6 -
Darius the Mede conquered the kingdom of Babylon when he was sixty-two years old. Remember Belshazzar? He was executed by Darius’ soldiers. And normally, when a new king conquered like Darius did, they killed everybody in the former king’s court! Why didn’t Daniel die? Because he was no ordinary “wise man”! His reputation reached the new king, Darius, perhaps even before he attacked Babylon!
The princes and presidents were jealous when Daniel was installed as one of three presidents. They wanted him gone! They searched to find grounds for a complaint against Daniel, but they could not find anything that Daniel had done wrong! So they hatched a crafty plan!
They used the king in their plot against Daniel. They flattered the king and told him that they wanted to honor him. The king fell for their flattery and foolishly signed the law that they wanted to introduce! “If any man prays unto any god, or to any man, except thou, O king, for thirty days, let him be cast into the den of lions”.
Daniel was not for sale. He did not change his intention to serve the God of heaven, even though he was under pressure.
Too late, the king realized what was happening, and the rest of the day he tried to save Daniel! But Daniel ended up in the lions' den! The king said to Daniel, “May your God whom you serve continually, deliver you”. Then the stone was laid over the opening and sealed with the king's seal.
Darius could not sleep at all that night. He did not eat, and he did not want any visitors! Early in the morning, as soon as it was light, he hurried to the lion's den. As he approached the cave, he shouted to Daniel with sadness in his voice.
“Daniel, you servant of the living God! Has your God, whom you constantly worship, been able to save you from the lions”?
This is unbelievable behavior for the king! Being in the lion's den is certain death! The king does not care what the others will think of him, he is out by the lion's den early the next morning, talking to a "dead" man!
The king has hope and he speaks as one who has the Spirit of the Holy God in him! He hopes that Daniel is alive. That his voice is sad only reveals his own realization and remorse over his own folly! The king shows a strong belief that God had taken care of Daniel, and closed the lions' mouths as Daniel himself puts it.
It began with envy, a desire to get rid of Daniel for good, the desire became action, and for safety's sake, his tomb was sealed with a large stone, and the king's seal.
Do you know that Jesus was exposed to the same thing? Satan was jealous of Jesus. For Jesus had His position among the three, in heaven. Instead of honor and glory, Satan was cast out of heaven. He then tricks Eve to fall, and Adam then chooses to lose his God-given dominion over this new world, for fear of losing Eve.
Jesus then comes to earth as our Savior. Satan was sure that he would succeed in getting Jesus to sin while He was human and subject to the same temptations we face! Just as the councilors and satraps tried to find something in Daniel's worship of God, Satan, with the help of the Pharisees and the scribes, tried to find something for which they could accuse Jesus! But they could not find anything! The councilors and satraps used their king. The Pharisees and the scribes also used the king, Herod, and had Jesus judged by Pilate.
When we read the Book of Revelation about the end times, we find the same thing again. Satan uses his agents, and the kings of the earth will then also be deceived and used. They eventually end up in mountains, in caves and cliffs in an attempt to hide themselves. It's all about worship in Revelation, just like in the book of Daniel!
Jesus was crucified and laid to rest in a cave, and a stone was placed in front of the opening. And it was also sealed with the ruler of that time, the Roman seal. Pilate, did not sleep much the night after the crucifixion!
There are three caves in the Bible that are very interesting. One is the cave here in Daniel 6. The next is the tomb of Jesus, as already mentioned. Last is the tomb of Lazarus. All were caves with a stone used to close the opening!
King Darius was out early in the morning, expecting life where death was certain!
At Lazarus' tomb, Jesus' friends try to stop Jesus from resurrecting Lazarus. “Do not touch the stone”, they say, “he stinks”!
And at the tomb of Jesus. Early in the morning someone also came to that grave, they did not expect any life. They were going there to anoint the memory of a dead person.
Do you get it?
A pagan king miraculously expects life! Jesus' friends do not believe that Jesus can give life to someone who stinks of death, and at Jesus' tomb his friends have come only to anoint the memory of his death.
Christians live under enormous pressure these days, to accept the world's ethics and morals. For these stories are also about our time, for the book of Daniel is a prophetic book. The Bible speaks of being dead in sin, many do not believe in any resurrection. The stone is a picture of a heart of stone that prevents spiritual light from reaching the dark grave; our heart that is dead in sin! Do not touch the stone, do not talk about sin, someone may have a bad conscience. It stinks. Rather come to our church and join in the praise, we celebrate the memory that Jesus has died.
But Jesus lives. He can give new life, give us victory over acquired and inherited sinful tendencies!

A King's Vision
Daniel the Prophet - Chapter 2
God revealed the future to a pagan king. The king needed help to understand his dreams. He asked for help from his prophets, spiritualists, sorcerers, and Chaldeans. But they could not help the king. They even said that there is not a man on earth who could tell the king what he wanted to know.
But God has His dwelling in the tabernacle. And by His Spirit, He also dwelt in Daniel. But the kings men did not know this.
Hear what Daniel said, “The secret that the king has asked for, is not for wise men, spiritualists, prophets, or sorcerers to disclose to the king. But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets. He has told King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in the last days”. Daniel 2:27, 28
We live in the “end time”, and it is important for us to experience that there is a God in heaven, who reveals secrets. In our days, much of what God has revealed is either questioned or scoffed. Much of Christianity today is flirting with the same sources of "wisdom" as Nebuchadnezzar did, spirit leaders and sorcerers, or the “wise men” of the world! Why not gather for prayer to God, so that He can reveal by his spirit what He has inspired in His Word!
We may not believe it, but when we ask God to anoint us, give us His Spirit, to understand, God will open our minds to the Word of God so that we can understand it.
Many Christians today do not read the books of Daniel and Revelation. Many people say you cannot understand those books!
This is not true.
There is a God in heaven who reveals secrets. Daniel is the only prophet that Jesus calls us to read and understand, because He wants to anoint us with His Spirit, enable us to understand, for Jesus obviously believes it is important!
Do not believe those who downplay the importance of reading and understanding Daniel's book. Do not be scared of animals and horns. Do not lean on the opinion of others! Seek God in prayer and ask Him for help to understand, “for there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, He has revealed to the king what is about to happen”, and He will reveal it to you too!
