What about payback? When someone hurts us, they owe us a debt, and Jesus teaches us what to do about it! For the most part, when someone offends us, we feel like they owe us something now, at the very least an apology. And if they don’t apologize, we may start to think about how to pay them back – we may think it’s ok to withhold affection, be hostile, or passive-aggressive towards them. Of course, Jesus teaches us exactly what to do in this situation so that we stay in agreement with God and not venture into enemy territory! Jesus teaches us how to change effectively and He has equipped us fully to live the life God intended us to! Part of how God forgives us, as well as how we process emotions is our changing our unhealthy behaviors for the healthy skills (Commandments) Jesus teaches us in the Bible. Jesus came to give us the Sword of the Spirit – His Word so we understand exactly how God set things up: what is God’s Part and what is our part in our relationship with Him. Our part is to repent – to change our minds from whatever it was we had to ask God for His Forgiveness for, to what God tells us to do instead. Not only that, but Jesus fully equipped us to do so. What about payback? When someone hurts us, they owe us a debt, and Jesus teaches us what to do about it! For the most part, when someone offends us, we feel like they owe us something now, at the very least an apology. And if they don’t apologize, we may start to think about how to pay them back – we may think it’s ok to withhold affection, be hostile, or passive-aggressive towards them. Of course, Jesus teaches us exactly what to do in this situation so that we stay in agreement with God and not venture into enemy territory! Jesus teaches us how to change effectively and He has equipped us fully to live the life God intended us to! Jesus teaches us how to change effectively and He has equipped us fully to live the life God intended us to! Part of how God forgives us, as well as how we process emotions is our changing our unhealthy behaviors for the healthy skills (Commandments) Jesus teaches us in the Bible. Jesus came to give us the Sword of the Spirit – His Word so we understand exactly how God set things up: what is God’s Part and what is our part in our relationship with Him. Our part is to repent – to change our minds from whatever it was we had to ask God for His Forgiveness for, to what God tells us to do instead. Not only that, but Jesus fully equipped us to do so. Now all that’s left is for us to make the decision to change! Jesus teaches us what to do when someone offends us by refering to them as “our enemies” and that forgiving them from the heart is the key to our own health, and healing, and freedom when someone is acting like our enemy. God is asking us to extent the same complete, and total forgiveness from the heart to all those we interact with, the Way He forgives us so that we can be perfect, as our Father in Heaven is perfect. Jesus teaches us not only how important it is to forgive, but He teaches us exactly how to forgive and be healed of all offenses! Jesus teaches us what to do when someone offends us by refering to them as “our enemies” and that forgiving them from the heart is the key to our own health, and healing, and freedom when someone is acting like our enemy. God is asking us to extent the same complete, and total forgiveness from the heart to all those we interact with, the Way He forgives us so that we can be perfect, as our Father in Heaven is perfect. Upset the World is a great book that explains exactly what we need to know to make disciples of all the nations! I picked up this book after I saw one of pastor Tim Ross’ sermons about it at Gateway church in Southlake, Texas. Pastor Tim is very funny and has a unique way of explaining things, so I knew the book would be great – and it was! It teaches us everything we need to know to keep Jesus’ Commandment to each of us, as His disciples, to make disciples of all the nations. It’s about loving everyone else with the Love Jesus commands us to, treating people the Way He wants us to, and sharing our testimony regarding what Jesus has done in our lives without feeling awkward or pushing others to make a decision. Upset the World is a great book that explains exactly what we need to know to make disciples of all the nations! I picked up this book after I saw one of pastor Tim Ross’ sermons about it at Gateway church in Southlake, Texas. Pastor Tim is very funny and has a unique way of explaining things, so I knew the book would be great – and it was! It teaches us everything we need to know to keep Jesus’ Commandment to each of us, as His disciples, to make disciples of all the nations.
