Tony Matthews - Hoedown
My take on the genre...
This is the finale of a four movement suite you can weave a story around. Scored for a String Quintet and String Orchestra the work contrasts the sounds between the two ensembles in a fun and lively way.

Tony Matthews - Escaping the Canon (Score Playback)
Written for a Violin School, with a Zoom (eventually live) performance in mind. It's an affectionate take on the (In)famous Pachelbel Canon in D and provides parts for beginners through to advanced students. Plus... there is a piano and bass part, which have concerto like passages.
Here is the live performance and premier.

Tony & Daphne Matthews - D minor Impro 2020 (For the Zoom Girls)

This piece was improvised by Daphne and I for one such piano-based Zoom meeting.
Tony Matthews - Violin Sonata No 2
The 2020 revision of the Second Violin Sonata.
In just three movements, there is no slow movement, it's raw drama filled journey and akin to a thorn between the romantic and passionate fist and third sonatas. Melodic? Yes,. but it has no qualms about abandoning tonality to make a point. Likewise, where tonality is called for... it duly is...
00:00 1st Movement - Allegro con brio
04:17 2nd Movement - Allegretto semplice
06:43 3rd Movement - Allegretto (mysterioso)

Tony Matthews - Airs on a D String
The premier performance of "Airs on a D string", via a Zoom Concert.
Airs on a D String
*******************
This piece works on two levels
1. seven graduated pieces that is easy to use as a solo or class learning piece. Starting with just one note (the open “D”), each piece adds a new note in semi-tone or half-step increments. The pieces are great tools for introducing three and four time as well as basic counting and repeats.
2. A piece of music that works in its own right and can be performed as a concert work. It’s for this reason that the piano carries the pieces in order to make “Airs on a D String” a joy to play and, above all, a joy to listen to.
Imagination options: Music for your Own Story,
**********************
In common with a lot of our publications, “Airs on a D String” has a loose narrative running throughout. This makes it ideal for use as a creative and imagination tool for teacher and students alike. It is very possible to create your own story around this music.

Rimsky-Korsakov - Russian Easter Festival Overture. Op36 (1888)
The Russian Easter Festival Overture Op.36 is based on liturgical themes mainly from a collection of old Russian Orthodox liturgical chants called the Obikhod.
Rimsky-Korsakov is that said he wanted to depict "the legendary and heathen aspect of the holiday, and the transition from the solemnity and mystery of the evening of Passion Saturday to the unbridled pagan-religious celebrations of Easter Sunday morning".
From my point of view, it’s a radically different take on the Choral Easter music that has so sewn up the market. There is reverence, drama and a wonderfully resurrectional, over the top ending. It's almost a rock piece that's just full of joy and energy.
About the Score
*****************
The score I created and edited myself... using Sibelius 7.13 and Note Performer 3.11. It's not just a Youtube post from A.N. Other. I created this and can now, after all many hours of work, play it

Happiest piece I've played for a long while :-)
Tony and Daphne Matthews - The Tortoise and The Hare
The "Tortoise and the Hare" is a great Mini-Musical for younger grades.
It allows for the teaching of non-tuned percussion instruments and the showing thereof. It also has two simple tunes for children to learn and sing. The excitement comes from differences in how these tunes are played as the Mini-Musical progresses.
This video is the Premier Performance.
