In this episode we get to enjoy our one and only port call during our Transatlantic cruise, and take a day-long shore excursion to the ancient city of Cordoba. It's easy to see the various influences on the architecture of this city from the Romans, Moors and Christians. One can imagine chariots roaring across the Roman bridge, which was built in the First Century. The mosque cathedral, originally built by Muslims, was large enough to hold 38,000 worshippers. When the Christians finally reclaimed Spain, they thought the mosque too beautiful to destroy, and built their spectacular cathedral AROUND the mosque. It has to be one of the most unique structures we have ever seen. And finally we strolled through the old Jewish quarter, which had interesting shops, colorful flowers and cobblestone streets. In this episode we're in the midst of our Transatlantic Cruise from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to Barcelona, Spain. While transiting the Atlantic Ocean, a passenger has a medical emergency and has to be airlifted from the ship. We witnessed a daring rescue carried out by the Portuguese military, and the passenger was safely taken to a hospital in the Azores. We also show you a little bit of what life at sea is like on one of the largest cruise ships in the world - Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas. In this episode we finally disembark from our cruise in the wonderful city of Barcelona, Spain. Unfortunately we land right smack in the middle of Covid, and arrive just in time for the entire city - and the whole country for that matter - to close down.
