Seattle police releases video of deadly shooting of suspected child predator at Tukwila hotel
Seattle police released new bodycam video Friday evening that shows the moments leading up toofficers fatally shooting a suspected child predator at a Tukwila hotel earlier this week.
Seattle Police Department (SPD) Chief Adrian Diaz said the 67-year-old child predator suspect arrived at the DoubleTree Suites hotel around 3:13 p.m. on Wednesday under the impression that he was meeting two young girls, ages 7 and 11.
However, unbeknownst to the suspect, multiple SPD officers with the Washington State Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce were undercover and waiting to arrest the man.
The task force at the SPD investigates Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) cases. These cases may include the production, distribution or possession of materials used to sexually exploit children or service provider systems used in committing such crimes.
The newly released video shows the officers opening the door for the man, who immediately flashed a gun. A scuffle then occurred before police ultimately fatally shot the man. The man was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Officials at the scene said a Seattle officer was grazed by a bullet in their leg during the shootout with the man.
Diaz continued to note that internet crimes against children are up 67% from 2022 to 2023.
"For our officers, these situations are dangerous, unpredictable, and can escalate rapidly," Diaz said.
“I was running, I could see someone firing a gun,” said Eric Wehrmeister, who was staying at the hotel several doors down. “There was a rapid succession of gunfire. Good thing they were shooting away from my room. You know it could’ve been a lot worse.”
Wehrmeister told KOMO News he had just checked out before the shooting on the fifth floor of the hotel, which happened several rooms down from where he had stayed.

Whitehall police fatally shoots SUV passenger who reached for gun during a traffic stop
Whitehall police officers shot and killed a passenger in an SUV after responding to reports of gunshots in a department store parking lot.
The shooting happened about 2 a.m. near the Roses Discount Store in the 4600 block of East Main Street. The man, whom police described as in his mid-30s, died at the scene. As of Friday morning, police had not released his name.
The two unidentified officers were involved in an unrelated traffic stop when they heard nearby gunfire. A minute later, the department's gunshot detection system alerted the officers to a shooting.
The officers came upon two vehicles in the parking lot. One fled as the officers pulled up, according to Deputy Chief Dan Kelso. A Honda Pilot SUV with two men remained at the scene.
Kelso said the officers noticed guns in the backseat of the SUV, and the officers began giving commands to both men, who didn't speak English. One officer knew enough Spanish to give the commands in that language, Kelso said.
Officers managed to persuade the driver to get out of the car, but Kelso said the passenger turned around and reached into the back seat. That's when both officers opened fire, hitting and killing the man, Kelso said.

Body camera videos shows Clark County deputies shoot, kill carjacking suspect
Bodycam video worn by Clark County sheriff’s deputies shows the chaotic moments before they shot and killed an armed carjacking suspect inside the American Legion Hall in Hazel Dell last weekend.
The video shows a packed hall on Saturday morning as deputies moved through the room with a K-9, confronting and shooting the suspect, 41-year-old Benjamin Woods, of Prineville, Oregon. He died at the scene.
Deputies later arrested his alleged accomplice, Lyndsey Jones. She appeared in court Monday on a burglary charge.
No one inside the hall was hurt. Neither were the deputies.
Clark County deputies had responded to an armed carjacking at 10:38 a.m. in Hazel Dell. Officials said the victim told deputies that one of the suspects was armed with a handgun.
At around 10:54 a.m., deputies responded to a suspicious circumstance call near the Goodwill in Salmon Creek. Witnesses said a male and female had tried to carjack a vehicle with a person inside. The description of the suspects matched that of the armed suspect from Hazel Dell.
Deputies found the carjacked vehicle behind the American Legion Hall at 14011 N.E. 20th Ave., and while they were discussing what they were going to do next, Woods walked out from behind a shipping container that was in the parking lot.
The video from the deputies’ body cameras shows Woods walking toward deputies. Deputies order him to put his hands up. He complies at first and says he doesn’t want to get bitten by the police dog under the control of one of the deputies.
But then he begins to back away, reaching toward his pockets. The deputies draw their handguns and stun guns.
The deputies yell at him to stop and to get his hands out of his pockets. They chase him into the crowded hall.
Once inside, Woods disappears around a corner and then goes into the men’s bathroom. He stops, however, turns, and points a gun at the deputies, who open fire.

Man steals car, rams it into Gwinnett County patrol vehicle
A man was arrested Wednesday after police say he stole a car and rammed it into a patrol vehicle in Gwinnett County.
Kalvin Robinson, 21, faces several charges, including two counts of aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer, felony obstruction, felony fleeing and felony theft by receiving.
At around 6 p.m., officers were called to a strip mall off Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker. They found a bleeding man who said he had been dragged by his car as it was stolen, according to police.
Not long after, officers found the vehicle at a Quality Inn off East Park Place Boulevard in Stone Mountain — along with Robinson. The suspect drove away, kickstarting a chase that ended at a Chevron less than a mile away when he rammed the stolen car into a patrol car, police said.
Bodycam footage shows Robinson running away from police across several lanes of traffic after the impact. K-9s and an aviation unit were called to help find him in a search that would last an hour and a half, police said.
Robinson was eventually found at the same Quality Inn as before, according to police. He had changed his shorts and “hastily tried cutting his hair to alter his appearance,” police said.
The man allegedly resisted arrest and had a gun in his pocket, but he was taken into custody safely, according to police.
Robinson was booked in Gwinnett County Jail, where he faces more charges from separate arrest warrants. Those include theft by deception, second-degree forgery, theft by shoplifting, family violence battery and robbery, police said.

Dash cam shows 120+ mph police chase end in crash in Liberty Township
Newly released dash camera and body camera footage show Ohio State Highway Patrol units pursuing a reportedly stolen white Hyundai across Warren and Butler Counties before it T-boned a truck at the corner of Millikin Road and State Route 747 in early February.
A police account of the chase in a crash report from the Ohio Department of Public Safety indicated a car driven by 19-year-old Saif Elawady passed an OSHP Trooper at 140 miles an hour south on I-75 around the 35-mile marker.
The trooper caught up with Elawady's car and activated lights and sirens, but Elawady refused to stop and led police to Liberty Township, where he crashed.
More than a month after the crash, copper-filled chunks of plastic and sheered-off metal remain where troopers had to drag him out of his car.
"Get your hands up! Get out!" officers yelled on the body cam footage.
Elawady was charged with failure to comply with a police officer, receiving stolen property, possessing criminal tools, driving under suspicion of or in violation of a license restriction and violation of the speed limit.
He was held at the Warren County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond before meeting that bond.
When reached by phone Tuesday, Elawady said he was on house arrest but declined further comment on the advice of counsel.
The victim in the truck indicated he was recovering, but also declined further comment as litigation is pending.

3 jailers watch as officer wrapped chain around detainee’s neck and briefly choked him
A surveillance video showing a jailer wrapping a chain around the neck of an inmate whose attorneys say was briefly choked is part of a civil rights lawsuit filed against three correctional officers this week in federal court in Brunswick, Georgia.
Attorneys for plaintiff Tremar Harris provided CNN with the video from January 2022, which they say they obtained during their investigation.
Harris, a 37-year-old Black man, was a pre-trial detainee in solitary confinement at the Appling County jail two years ago, according to court documents.
The suit alleges Officer William Rentz – who is the defendant in a separate suit – placed “the chain of an unused leg restraint” across Harris’ throat when the inmate was restrained in a chair. Then, Rentz “pulled the chain” against Harris’ throat and “strangled” him for a few seconds before letting go of the chain, according to the lawsuit.
Video of the incident shows the chain around Harris’ neck for about 4 seconds.
Officers Daydan Brannon, Cannon Mcleod and Ansley Fennell failed to intervene or stop Rentz “from engaging in such an awful, unlawful, hateful, and sadistic act,” the lawsuit stated, saying the defendants “had the ability, opportunity, skill and time to prevent and immediately stop Officer Rentz from strangling the Plaintiff” but did nothing on Harris’ behalf.
The lawsuit further contends the observing officers “failed to document the unlawful use of force, report the unlawful use of force, nor did they document or report the statements that Officer Rentz made to the Plaintiff.”
The lawsuit says Harris was deprived of his rights under the Constitution and Georgia’s state laws by the officers. Harris is seeking a jury trial and compensatory and punitive damages.
CNN was unsuccessful in its attempts to reach Brannon, Mcleod and Fennell or their representatives. The Appling County Sheriff has not yet responded to CNN’s question about the employment status of the officers involved or given CNN a statement on the incident.
Rentz, who was terminated, is not named in this lawsuit. Harris and his attorneys filed a lawsuit against Rentz in January.
It alleges Rentz and three other officers entered Harris’ cell and shocked him several times with a so-called “shock shield,” which the lawsuit describes as “an electrified shield design(ed) to deliver an electric shock to those who come into contact (with) it.”
Harris was left in the cell for several hours, according to the lawsuit, before Rentz returned, removed leg shackles from Harris’ ankles, wrapped them around his neck and choked him.
According to the filing, Rentz told Harris he was “gonna put you back in the cotton field with the other boys” while he was “strangling” him.
Harris was emotionally traumatized by the incident and “believed he might die” according to the lawsuit. The filing also says Harris received physical injuries because of the shock shield.
Rentz was charged in March 2023 with violation of oath of office and battery.
The criminal case is pending in Appling County court. Rentz’s criminal attorney, Hugh McCullough, told CNN his client has pleaded not guilty to the charges and said Rentz denies any wrongdoing.
Rentz’s civil attorney, Patrick O’Connor, denied the lawsuit allegations, saying in an email, “Mr. Rentz did not choke Mr. Harris and Mr. Rentz never made the offensive comments falsely attributed to him.”

'You don't know who I am?' Bodycam released from rapper GloRilla's DUI arrest in metro Atlanta
Body camera footage released on Friday shows police's entire encounter with budding rap star GloRilla earlier this week after she was arrested on DUI and other charges.
The arrest happened on Tuesday night, according to the Suwanee Police Department.
The video shows the responding officer knocking on the door of GloRilla, whose real name is Gloria Woods, and explaining that she was stopped for making a U-Turn in the left lane at a solid red light around 4 a.m.
Woods complied, informing the officer that she was leaving a performance at the Opium nightclub in Midtown.
"But you don't know who I am," Woods said to the officer, adding, "I'm on your TV."
She also tells officers that she is on the way to Waffle House but explains she's accidentally urinated herself.
"I got pee on my hand," Woods said.
After that, Woods tells officers where two guns are in the car and that she had marijuana, but "not enough" to be taken to jail. She then asks the police if she "looks cute in their camera."
The officer then takes Woods through a few sobriety tests where, at one point, her right breast came out of her bikini-styled top.
Police later made Woods remove her jewelry, handcuffed her and put her in the back of their police car. The last thing Woods asks officers is if "I can sue y'all if y'all take me to jail for no reason?"
Woods was taken into custody on the following charges:
* Driving under the influence of alcohol
* Consuming alcoholic beverage or possessing open alcoholic beverage container while in passenger area of a motor vehicle
* Failure to obey traffic control device
The police report said this was at the intersection of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Suwanee Walk Avenue. Police said Woods' eyes were bloodshot and watery, adding that he could smell marijuana inside the car and alcohol on her breath.

Bodycam shows driver crashing into Moraine Police cruiser on the interstate
A new video released by the Moraine Police Department shows a car crashing into a parked police cruiser and brings into question the dangers of reckless driving.
Around 2 a.m. on Sunday, a Moraine Police Officer was parked on the side of Northbound I-75 while he was helping someone else on the interstate.
The Officer had parked his cruiser behind an ambulance to protect the vehicle, and when he was walking back to his cruiser, another car crashed into the back of the cruiser.
Captured on both the Officer’s body cam and the cruiser’s dash cam, you can see the officer begin walking back to his cruiser.
The ambulance and the cruiser were in the right lane and the oncoming driver could be seen not attempting to move over or slow down.
The oncoming driver crashed into the back of the police cruiser. No one was injured in the crash.
News Center 7′s Mike Campbell talked to people in the Miami Valley about the dangers officers face on the roadways, many of them believed the blame was on reckless drivers.
“No, I think it’s a lot of distracted driving these days, so, absolutely not,” Shirley Collier, who drives on I-75 every day, said when asked if she felt that people paid attention on the road.
Collier said she knows it is the law to move left anytime you see emergency vehicles parked on the right side of the road, especially on the freeway.
She acknowledges that it isn’t always easy, but it’s still important.
“It’s not [easy] but it not only puts the officer but the person that’s pulled over in danger,” Collier said.
Another driver, Glenn Hofsiss, who moved to Dayton after living in Georgia for 30 years, says that people won’t give emergency vehicles space on the roads.
>> 3 hospitalized after crash on I-75 in Moraine
“No, they won’t yield, they won’t move over,” Hofsiss said.
Hofsiss said Ohio drivers are much more aggressive.
Even though traffic is heavy in Moraine all the time, many people say reckless drivers are the ones that make them want to stay off the freeway.
In the case of the crash involving the cruiser, police said the driver was not only driving recklessly, but they believe he was also under the influence and are moving forward with a DUI investigation.
Drivers say we all have to take safety seriously.
“The roads here are pretty decent, but the drivers are reckless, I don’t understand why,” Hofsiss said.
The suspected OVI driver was not seriously hurt, and neither was the officer, but that’s likely because he was about six steps from getting back in his cruiser to finish a report.

Dashcam Shows Moment Madison Cawthorn Smashes into Florida Trooper’s Car
New dash camera footage shows the explosive moment when former U.S. Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) allegedly slammed into the parked car of a Florida State Trooper on Monday.
Drivers on I-75 were brought to a stand-still earlier this week after a Mercedes which was driving “erratically and aggressively,” according to one witness, tore past them down the highway, and rear ended a cop’s car. As the drivers rode past, many were able to identify the driver of the Mercedes as none other than the avid Donald Trump supporter and accused insurrectionist.
Footage released to the Miami New Times via a public records request shows the exact moment Cawthorn allegedly crashed into the Florida Highway Patrol cruiser.
In the video, the rear window of the trooper’s car shatters at the immense impact from the speeding vehicle. The trooper’s car, which did not appear to be moving, is jolted, and rolls a few meters forward. One trooper can be heard groaning at the impact. “Ugh, damn it,” he says.
In another clip, the trooper can be seen wincing as he steps out of the car and walks a few feet away.
The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the trooper involved in the accident “sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.”
The agency did not identify Cawthorn as the driver, but said the crash involved a 28-year-old man who lives in Coral Cove, both of which match Cawthorn’s description. Cawthorn has yet to comment on the incident.

Bodycam footage shows Indian River County Sheriff deputies taking down 2 suspected retail thieves
Body camera footage showed the moment that Indian River County Sheriff’s deputies moved into place as they waited for two Miami men inside a Vero Beach Burlington department store, accused of stuffing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise into a suitcase.
From the video, one of the suspects was seen casually walking out.
Deputies then immediately stopped him by the parking lot.
The suspect puts up a fight, but deputies were able to eventually take him down and make the arrest.
As for the second suspect, he was seen running away despite deputies telling him to stop.
One of the deputies deployed his stun gun before the man fell down.
The pair were identified as Nelson Alonso and Adrian Hernandez. They both have felony records and are on probation out of Miami.
They now remain in the county jail.
This recent incident is just a glimpse into what’s been happening nationwide.
“You see it in other parts of the country, in New York, in California, where they’re loading up carts and rolling out,” said Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers.
Flowers believes the area is a hot spot because the shops are right off the interstate.
“Right there by 95, we have the same with our outlet mall, and we have special precautions in there with our license plate readers that if you go into that outlet mall and steal, we’re going to catch you,” he said.
His biggest concern is for the workers and customers.
“We don’t want the retail workers, the customers, anybody to get hurt in these,” he said. “You never know. If folks are willing to travel from Miami to Vero Beach, you saw, they fought with our deputies, they’re not going to just give up easily. We don’t want somebody else to get hurt.”
He also shared a message to these traveling criminals who think this area is a target.
“You get what you get when you play stupid games up here in Indian River County,” Flowers said. “Find somewhere else to do that nonsense, because if you try it here, we’re going to catch you.”
Both suspects remain behind bars on multiple charges, which include grand theft and resisting an officer.

Juvenile arrested for vehicle theft after police drone locates him post-crash
A juvenile was arrested and charged with motor vehicle theft last week after crashing and bailing from a stolen vehicle according to the Howard County Police Department.
Police say on April 9 officers responded to a Columbia neighborhood for a vehicle collision.
Witnesses reported seeing a male run from the vehicle, and officers determined the vehicle was stolen.
According to body-camera footage released by the police department, witnesses directed which way the suspect went. Police then launched a drone with thermal imaging to search for the suspect who bailed out.
Fox45 spoke with Allison Meyer, who lives in the neighborhood of the crash.
“What is he doing in this neighborhood stealing cars," said Meyer.
Last week, five teens from Baltimore City were arrested for robbery and carjacking, just about a mile away.
This past November, a woman was robbed at gunpoint in her driveway by two juveniles, also about a mile away from the crash.
"It’s a very suburban family friendly neighborhood, everybody out walking their dog and going for runs and I mean it’s a safe place to be generally," said Meyer.
The drone located the suspect nearby and police converged on his location where they arrested the juvenile suspect.

Suspect reverses classic muscle car into LASD police car, then jumps out with knife and is fatally shot
Deputies opened fire on a man armed with a knife in a deadly shooting that followed a domestic violence call in Long Beach.
Deputies were called at about 9 p.m. Tuesday to the 15900 block of Indiana Avenue in Paramount on a restraining order violation call. They spoke with the victim, then saw the subject of the report drive past the home.
He was seen driving east on Artesia Boulevard in Long Beach, approaching Downey Avenue, before stopping the red vintage muscle car at the intersection. Deputies pulled in behind the driver, who then reversed the car and crashed into the front of a sheriff's department patrol car.
The sheriff's department cruiser ended up wedged under the rear of the muscle car, possibly a 1970s-era Pontiac Ventura.
The man got out of the car carrying a knife, and deputies opened fire. The man died at the scene.
One deputy was injured in the confrontation. Details about the injuries were not immediately available, but law enforcement said that the deputy is in stable condition.

Warren police body cam released in fatal officer shooting of armed suspect
Police body camera video was released of an officer-involved shooting that left an 18-year-old armed suspect dead Friday.
Warren police held a press briefing Monday, showing an armed man running out of a garage and pulling out a 9 mm Glock pistol, pointing it at officers before they opened fire.
Police are not naming the suspect out of respect for his family, said Lt. John Gajewski. The suspect was an 18-year-old high school student who was attending online classes.
The suspect was believed to be suffering from a mental health crisis. Investigators say he had no previous criminal record other than a few traffic stops, and had bought his gun legally from a private individual.
Video shows one officer began to enter the open garage, then turn and run back to his cruiser after seeing the suspect with his gun. After getting to his vehicle, the officer says "Gun gun gun" over the radio.
After running out from around a bush outside his family's house in the area of Ryan Road and 11 Mile, he can be seen "taking an aggressive stance" toward officers, said Interim Police Commissioner Charles Rushton.
Eleven shots were fired by two officers, with three rounds hitting the suspect. The 18-year-old did not fire on the officers.
"Once the suspect was on the ground, our officers immediately began life-saving measures including CPR," Rushton said, adding that officers revived the victim three separate times before Warren Fire arrived at the scene within three minutes. A"gain, I want to point out as the video shows this entire incident from the first time they saw the suspect with a firearm in his hand to the volley of gunshots from the police officers, is approximately seven seconds."
The 911 dispatch recordings were played, with a family member saying that his brother was "going crazy" and "assaulting everyone in the house." He added that he believed that his brother had not slept in four to five days.

Police officer wounded, suspect dead in overnight 'ambush' in Albany
Police in Albany, New York are investigating an officer-involved shooting Wednesday morning, that Chief Eric Hawkins calls “an ambush.”
It happened around 12:30 a.m. in the area of North Main Avenue and Western Avenue, near the College of Saint Rose.
Police said the officer was conducting a traffic stop when he was shot by the suspect. The two exchanged fire.
The suspect is now deceased, according to Hawkins.
According to police, the officer attempted to stop a car for speeding, but he was unable to successfully stop the driver. Dash camera video from police shows the chase between the officer and the suspect.
A short time later, the officer allegedly saw the car parked and attempted again to make contact with the driver, but as he approached the vehicle, he was “ambushed” from behind the vehicle.
A statement from Mayor Kathy Sheehan states the officer was attempting to stop a vehicle for traffic violations when he was “ambushed in an act of depraved gun violence.”
Lee Kindlon, local defense attorney and Albany DA candidate, also shared his thoughts in a statement Wednesday.
This morning’s shooting of one of Albany’s finest, a member of APD, is, as Mayor Sheehan said, ‘an act of depraved gun violence.' We must do more to stem the flow of guns into Albany because it makes everybody less safe. My prayers are with the officer for a speedy recovery, and hope the family of the deceased finds comfort as they grieve.
Body camera footage from police shows the moment the officer left the vehicle to conduct the traffic stop and was fired upon. In the video, you can hear the officer radioing "Shots fired."

Aerial video shows police pursue stolen vehicle, make arrest in Berkley neighborhood
Video recorded by a Massachusetts State Police helicopter shows officers pursue a vehicle and apprehend the people who were inside after they fled the vehicle when they became trapped in a residential area of Berkley.
State police officials said that shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday, troopers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle related to an earlier notification.
The stolen vehicle fled the initial stop but was spotted merging onto Route 79 north quickly afterward. Troopers pursued the vehicle for a short time but disengaged when the vehicle exited the highway and began fleeing down local roadways, according to state police.
An MSP Air Wing Unit flight crew responded to provide support and was able to find the stolen vehicle and track it on Route 24 north.
Video from that MSP Air Wing Unit flight shows the stolen vehicle take Exit 11 on Route 24 north, which is the exit for Padelford Street in Berkley.
The stolen vehicle then wound up turning onto Deerfield Drive, a loop subdivision in Berkley, and Berkley police officers were able to trap the vehicle inside.
The MSP helicopter video then shows three people exit the stolen vehicle and run into a wooded area off Deerfield Drive. State police said those three people were apprehended within a few minutes.
State police troopers wound up making two arrests: 19-year-old Kobe West and 21-year-old Alexia Springer, both of Fall River.
West was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a revoked driver's license, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, marked lanes violation and speeding. State police said West was also wanted on five outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Springer was charged with receiving a motor vehicle, according to state police.

Huntsville man sentenced to 30 years in prison after injuring Lowell officer in crash
A Huntsville man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for injuring a Lowell police officer in a crash.
Jerry Henington, 38, pleaded guilty on Monday to battery, fleeing, unauthorized use of property to facilitate a crime, two counts of criminal mischief, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and resisting arrest.
Henington originally also had attempted first-degree murder, possession of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated charges. Those were not included in the amended criminal information.
Henington was also charged as a habitual offender.
Lowell police responded to a hit-and-run accident on North Dixieland Street and West Monroe Avenue around 5:50 p.m. on June 14, 2023.
Minutes later, officers found Henington and his vehicle. Lowell police said in a news release that Henington had already hit a motorist on the roadway, fled the scene and tried to hide in a subdivision.
As a second officer approached the subdivision, Henington “exited at a high rate of speed and hit the officer in a T-bone type collision,” according to the release.
Dashcam video shows the moment Hennington collided with the officer’s vehicle.
An affidavit claims the officer was targeted in the collision.
The officer was taken to a nearby hospital for multiple fractures and torn ligaments in one of his hands, according to the affidavit.
The vehicle’s owner reported to police that Henington was an acquaintance and had stolen the vehicle from her, the affidavit said.
Henington and his codefendant Tye Sutton, 18, were later taken into custody.
Sutton pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance in October 2023 and was sentenced to six years of probation in November 2023.

Boise officer justified in shooting Harry Andrews who was on the interstate armed with a knife
The Office of Police Accountability (OPA) released a report Wednesday agreeing with investigations justifying the January 2023 actions of a Boise police officer who shot a man who threatened police with a knife while walking along the “Flying Wye” on I-84.
According to the Use of Force Investigative Report, the OPA concluded that it was "reasonable" for Boise Police Department (BPD) Sgt. Kirk Rush to use deadly force against Harry Chester Andrews, and that it was an act of self-defense.
On Jan. 3, 2023, police were dispatched to a man walking in the westbound lanes of the interstate. When officers arrived, they found Andrews walking on I-84 with a knife in his hand, according to the report.
Rush told Andrews to get on the ground and drop his knife. Andrews did not follow commands and ran at Rush with the knife in hand, which prompted the officer to shoot Andrews, injuring him. He was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries.
Andrews pleaded guilty, in Oct. of 2023, to aggravated assault upon certain personnel with a deadly weapon enhancement.
Andrews was sentenced to prison for 25 years on Jan. 11, 2024. The Ada County Prosecutor's Office said while police were detaining and aiding Andrews, he said to the officers, "I wanted to kill you."
On the same day as the sentencing, Gem County Prosecuting Attorney Erick Thomson released a press release that justified Officer Rush in the shooting.

6 Boise police officers who fatally shot 28-year-old Macey Juker were justified, body cam released
The Gem State Prosecutor announced the six Boise police officers involved in a 2023 North End shootout that killed 28-year-old Macey Juker were justified in their actions.
On Friday, the Boise Police Department (BPD) issued a news release stating the Gem State Prosecutor Erick Thomson reviewed the body cam footage, and the initial investigation by the Ada County Critical Task Force. After the review, he deemed the officers were justified in the shooting.
Thomson released a timeline of the shooting that happened on July 27, 2023, stating that around 10 p.m. Juker called police and was "showing signs of mental illness and stating he had an assault rifle."
While on the phone, police heard gunshots.
When police arrived at N 20th Street in Boise's North End, they found Juker with an assault rifle. The document states Juker was complying with police and put the gun down, but later picked it back up and ran from police. He turned, and officers and Juker shot at each other.
Juker was shot and fell to the ground but continued to shoot, which prompted officers to shoot him, police stated.
Police initially tweeted at 12:12 a.m. that officers responded to a report of an armed suspect. They later said they were responding to an active shooter.
The Ada County Coroner said Jukers cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:18 a.m. Police stated life-saving measures were unsuccessful.
None of the officers were hurt.

Boise police officer's shooting of Eli Nash deemed justified in fatal shooting, body cam released
According to a recent news release, Blaine County Prosecuting Attorney Matthew Fredback determined the actions of Boise Police Officer K. Paporello, who shot Eli Nash on Jan. 23, 2023, were justified under the law.
The release says the prosecutor reviewed multiple officers' on-body video and the complete investigation conducted by the Ada County Critical Incident Task Force led by the Garden City Police Department.
Before the shooting, Nash was on parole after his release from prison following a conviction of two counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child by Electronic Means. Nash failed to register as a sex offender, and officers were investigating an additional sexual assault allegation against Nash.
On Jan. 23, 2023, officers planned to arrest Nash in partnership with Fugitive Recovery Agents from the Idaho Department of Corrections. Upon locating Nash in a car in a parking lot near 3801 E. Fairview Ave. in Meridian, officers moved in to arrest him. They used police vehicles to block Nash's car to prevent him from escaping.
Officers approached the vehicle, identified themselves, and commanded Nash to put his hands up. Nash did not comply and instead jumped into the back seat where the blankets covered the windows.
Paporello could see Nash through the rear windshield and saw he was holding a gun and pointing it toward the rear driver's side door in the direction of other officers. Paporello fired four rounds at Nash through the rear windshield.
Despite life-saving efforts by law enforcement, Nash was declared deceased on the scene. The firearm was later identified as a 9mm CZ-75 handgun.

Dashcam shows reversing driver smash into Toronto police cars during chase
Police in pursuit of high-end stolen vehicles were targeted by one of the suspects in a getaway attempt.
Toronto police released video of their encounter.
According to police, a group of armed and masked men targeted a man in a BMW X5 on April 6.
Five days later, police believe the same group targeted a person who was putting gas in their Lamborghini Urus.
Police said the suspects ran over the victim as they drove away in his car.
He was seriously injured and hospitalized.
On April 12, officers got a hit on the stolen Lamborghini from a license plate reader and followed the car to a parking lot.
While there, police said the stolen BMW arrived on the scene.
Police said the BMW driver reversed up a hill and smashed into police cars.
Officers eventually smashed the windows and deployed a Taser on the driver.
Police said the suspects had to be removed by force from the vehicle.
Officers recovered $18,000 and three handguns.
“The individuals committing these crimes are violent and not deterred at the thought of being arrested,” said Acting Superintendent Susan Gomes at a news conference at police headquarters.
Police arrested two people, one of whom is a minor.
