Hwy 1 detour, alternate route, Golden,BC
If you are planning a trip between Alberta and BC via Hwy 1 this summer, just be aware that you may possibly be detoured through Radium to Banff. This post is coming after and since we came through Golden from Revelstoke the hwy has apparently reopened partially, 1 lane alternating and waits upto 30 mins (but doubtful there is just 1 so this could add a lot of time to the commute). The detour will will add 1 1/2 hour (it added much more for us, but actually took us through some incredible areas). Lots of tunnels, mountains, and thankfully rest areas.
* if you have come through more recently, it would be great to add the information in the comments.

Chipmunk cave exploring, british columbia caves
So this was a family meet up (pre lockdowns). I love seeing caves and sadly I have never really explored caves at all. We were able to see the big cave and the entrances to some smaller ones but only our daughter Jacquelene and Alex were able to check out the real cave. After climbing up the rope ladder they were able to see that they required a lot more equipment to fully check out the main cave that takes you through the mountain, so they will return to explore further. This was amazing, I wish I could explore more but squatting to exit the big cave (where you can stand inside, was the most I could manage.

wandering canadians exploring canada,across canada
We are traveling across Canada and seeing everything we can see. Hoping to explore every Province (New Foundland still in question-$$), and North West Territories (NWT), if possible. We'd love your input and ideas. Traveling the transcanada from Vancouver to Nova Scotia and will be taking time coming back (different routes coming back and more time in each place). Hope you hop on board and come on this adventure with us.

Revelstoke, BC, across Canada, Kootenays
Revelstoke was founded in 1880's, when CPR was built through the area. CPR stil employees over 300 people in Revelstoke as it is a busy hub. It has since evolved into an epic adventure destination. You have skiing, snowshoeing and hot springs nearby in winter, hiking, rock climbing, and mountain biking destination in summer. Also, farmers market, craft brewery, cafes and incredible restaurants. Wonderful place to visit and many camp options National, Provincial and private parks on the area.

The last spike, CPR, BC, across Canada
CPR Last Spike, Craiglachie, BC.
CPR nebulous dream realized. An iron ribbon crossed Canada from sea to sea. Almost 3000 miles. On Nov. 17, 1885 a plain iron spike welded east to west.
