Mortal Kombat 12 Exclusive : POWER LEVELS to be introduced, New Universe in the works at NRS + More
According to an anonymous source Mortal Kombat 12 is purported to be a Greatest Hits celebration of the recent trilogy, combining the roster from all three games (minus the licensed guest characters) into one big 50-character roster. The user source claims that the game will essentially be a ported version of MK11 but simply with a ton of more characters including unplayable bosses. That likely means the game won’t go through a massive overhaul as each installment does and will have the same mechanics as MK11. Returning MK11 characters are said to play the exact same way, down to the movesets
that MK12 is indeed going to be a mishmash of the latest trilogy running on the same MK11 engine. Both posts claim that the game will be revealed next week in the Game Awards.
The Mortal Kombat franchise has existed for almost three decades by now, and in that time, it's spawned a list of highly popular and recognizable characters. Foundational to that popularity is that this cast all met or continued to meet at a particular moment when Earthrealm's future seemed to be at its most bleak.
As with any anonymous internet rumor, it’s always good to take this with a grain of salt but the story is nonetheless very interesting. MK11 was an absolute blockbuster of a game, selling higher than any fighting game on the market. That Warner Bros. would just opt to make another version of it isn’t necessarily surprising.
It's worth noting that all of the games are built upon a great deal of history that precedes the events of even the first Mortal Kombat game. One such legendary character important to the early history of the Mortal Kombat series is the Great Kung Lao.
His life was important in altering the trajectory of the fate of Earthrealm, and in death his importance to the world was made even more important. We'll discuss this character and play around with some interesting possibilities regarding a story that is different for him in this video.
Both the Mortal Kombat and Injustice franchises are still yet to come out with new installments. However, some fans suggest that a new Mortal Kombat game is possibly in Development. The reason behind this speculation is because of a job listing fans found for NetherRealm Studios. These listings that fans have been sharing specifically pertain to a martial arts fighting game. Thus, the assumption of a new Mortal Kombat game being developed.
No official announcements for Mortal Kombat 12 or Injustice 3 are out yet, however, a job listing may have just gotten Mortal Kombat 12 leaked, or it may be Injustice 3 leaked.

Honestly speaking, relying on a job listing isn’t necessarily the best way to identify what game is in development. Fans should also take note of the fact that Mortal Kombat isn’t the only martial arts fighting game NetherRealm has. Injustice, despite being a superhero combat game, is also considered a martial arts fighting game. Also, it’s worth mentioning that Injustice already has two installments, and still a growing player base. Fans of the Injustice franchise have also been long awaiting a third installment of the game.
Let’s not forget that there’s also a possibility that NetherRealm studios could introduce a new IP. Since the studio is well known for fighting games, it’ll be interesting to see a new creation from the team. One thing is for sure though, a new fighting game is in development. For now, we just have to wait and see what exactly is NetherRealm Studios working on, and whether or not the job listing did get Mortal Kombat 12 leaked.
Netherrealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It is the 12th main installment in the main series and will be released in April 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch.
Like the previous game, Mortal Kombat 12 will feature the previous fighting mechanics with a new online mode called 'One to 100', a mode where one player faces off against 100 players on King of the Hill with special mystery buffs or debuffs.
Mortal Kombat 12 will also hold previous DLC guest characters from MKX, MK11 and MK9 as well as new guest characters. The only confirmed guest character so far is Michael Myers, but it has been hinted other 4 new characters for Kombat Pack 1.

Mortal Kombat 2: Easter Egg Already Teased Kitana's Appearance
Mortal Kombat's biggest sequel hook may have been the Johnny Cage tease at the end, but the movie also set up Kitana's role in Mortal Kombat 2. Created in 1993 for Mortal Kombat II, Kitana is an ancient warrior born in the realm of Edenia. Kitana was raised as the adopted daughter of Shao Khan, Mortal Kombat’s main villain, but her loyalty doesn't always lie with the Outworld. Kitana has even fought alongside Earthrealm warriors on some occasions, and usually has a love interest in Liu Kang.
Kitana was one of the game characters to appear in 1995's Mortal Kombat, where she was played by Talisa Soto. Soto reprised her role as the now reformed Kitana in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, a film that explored more of the character's backstory by bringing her mother Sindel. Annihilation marked Kitana's last appearance on the big screen, as the 2021 Mortal Kombat reboot did not feature the character. That said, the movie did not completely ignore Kitana.
Midway through the film, it is possible to notice a bladed fan, Kitana's signature weapon in the Mortal Kombat games, as an easter egg on display in Raiden’s temple. The movie does not acknowledge the fan, but the scene is clearly framed in a way that highlights its presence. It is a very simple way to at least reference such an important character from Mortal Kombat, and it strongly suggests she may have a role in the sequel. Given Kitana's connection with Shao Khan, it makes sense the character is being saved for Mortal Kombat 2. The first Mortal Kombat was very much about introducing the core characters like Scorpion and the newly created Cole Young as well as setting up the world, with Shang Tsung's plans to prevent the tournament from happening as the main focus of the story. Now, Mortal Kombat 2 can expand on the scale and introduce the many other Mortal Kombat names who as Kitana were missing in the first film.
The biggest question is where Kitana’s loyalty would lie in Mortal Kombat 2. In the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie, Kitana and Liu Kang were interested in each other right from the start, and the movie strongly suggested that she would eventually turn on Shang Tsung. By the time of Annihilation, Kitana was already fully on the side of the heroes. Given how Kitana switching sides and betraying the Outworld is a plot point bound to happen considering the character's history, one thing Mortal Kombat 2 could do is focus on Kitana's role as an antagonist first, and leave the redemption part of it to the end of the movie or even to Mortal Kombat 3. That would make her story feel more earned, and her relationship with Liu Kang even more complex.
Kitana’s absence was felt in the Mortal Kombat reboot, but the bladed-fan easter egg reveals it may not take too long for the character to return to the big screen. Despite the mixed reviews, Mortal Kombat proved that it can at least deliver on the action and the visual effects that the world and warriors of Mortal Kombat deserve, and that’s good news for Kitana. It remains to be seen what her role in Mortal Kombat 2 will be, and which actor will bring the character to life if she is indeed in the film.

Mortal Kombat 2: Earthrealms WEAK Champion Roster (As We Know It)
Mortal Kombat's ending sets up a continuation of the movie and a huge new character for its upcoming sequel. Here's what we know so far
Warner Bros' 2021 reboot of Mortal Kombat is officially getting a sequel - alongside a potential whole franchise. Already, there's a strong set-up for more in the movie universe, and Mortal Kombat 2 is set to bring in at least one missing figure who was controversially excluded from the reboot: The 2021 Mortal Kombat movie's ending set up a sequel featuring fan-favorite character Johnny Cage.
Mortal Kombat (2021) is the third live-action movie in the beloved franchise, fixing many of the issues of the original — which is nonetheless a cult classic - and the more problematic sequel, Annihilation, from 1997. The 2021 movie delivers on the promised R-rating, sticking to a mostly faithful adaptation model that brings iconic characters to life as well as expanding to the lore with the introduction of new mysterious character Cole Young, whose identity inspired lots of speculation ahead of the movie's release.
There's certainly potential in the lore and story of Mortal Kombat to expand towards multiple sequels — not to mention spin-offs — with the potential franchise certainly not lacking in the source material department. And luckily for fans of the franchise and Simon McQuoid's movie, there is now official confirmation that there will be at least one more new Mortal Kombat movie. Here's everything you need to know about Mortal Kombat 2.
As first reported by Deadline, Mortal Kombat 2 is officially happening as of January 2022. New Line and Warner Bros. are now confirmed to be taking the necessary steps to continue the franchise, with their first action being the hiring of The Umbrella Academy's Jeremy Slater to pen the Mortal Kombat 2 script. The media outlet notes that no other deals are currently in place for the sequel, meaning Mortal Kombat 2021 director Simon McQuoid and the reboot's core cast still need to agree to terms of their own to return for Mortal Kombat 2.
The end of Mortal Kombat sets up further invasions by Shang Tsung as he seeks to use his Outworld allies to prevent a fair Mortal Kombat tournament from happening and his own inevitable defeat. With that in mind, Cole Young and his fellow surviving Earthrealm champions are sent to round up more champions, beginning with series favorite Johnny Cage, who Young tracks to Hollywood. Shang Tsung, meanwhile, will no doubt retire to his own realm to lick his wounds and bolster his own team, possibly looking to revive his most feared warrior, Sub-Zero, somehow. It is, however, confirmed that an actual Mortal Kombat tournament will be shown in a Mortal Kombat 2 movie, surely pleasing lots of fans who were left bemused by its absence.
Though Mortal Kombat kills off several main characters, Lewis Tan's Cole Young will return for the sequel alongside Jessica McNamee's Sonya Blade, Mehcad Brooks' Jax, Tadanobu Asano's Raiden, Ludi Lin's Liu Kang, and possibly Hiroyuki Sanada's Scorpion. If Joe Taslim is back for multiple sequels, Scorpion likely returns too. And then there's Chin Han's Shang Tsung, who will presumably still be the main villain. Meanwhile, WWE star The Miz wants to be the actor to play Johnny Cage in the Mortal Kombat 2 cast. Ryan Reynolds was also briefly rumored to be in the running to play Cage, only to hilariously turn the rumors into an ad for his Mint Mobile cell phone company. Either way, it's confirmed that the Hollywood bad boy will indeed be a featured character in the sequel.
Mortal Kombat took decades to get to the screen and was then delayed by Covid. It's unlikely a sequel would take as long to get to screen. If the production of the original is anything to go by, a reasonable turnover of a couple of years wouldn't be unexpected, even allowing for a lengthier post-production period than McQuoid's initial four-month filming schedule. So perhaps 2023 wouldn't be out of the question. Reports now suggest that multiple Mortal Kombat follow-up movies are in development, including sequels and spinoffs to sit alongside the confirmed Mortal Kombat 2. That's primarily due to the movie's HBO Max launch being one of the biggest in the service's history, meaning it's likely Warner Bros. will make Mortal Kombat 2's production a top priority.

Mortal Kombat 12: WILL BE CALLED VENGEANCE, NRS HAS OTHER NAMES IN MIND FINAL DECISION ALMOST DONE!!

Mortal Kombat 12 : WB orders NRS To STOP ALL Political Talk, FANTASTIC IDEA!! (Trigger Warning)
The characters and their back-stories are mostly continuous with the movie Mortal Kombat albeit with some minor differences. The characters’ designs are modeled after how they looked in Mortal Kombat 3 the Arcade game. The series takes place in Earthrealm, Outworld, and various other realms after the events of the first movie and the plot has very little to do with the plot of any of the games. Perhaps the most notable aspect of the show was that it provided the debut appearance of Quan Chi, who became a key character in the MK series, namely in Mortal Kombat 4 and Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.
The show was focused on a group of warriors assembled by Raiden to defend Earthrealm from invaders of various other dimensions that entered through portals. The assembled warriors included Liu Kang, Kurtis Stryker, Sonya Blade, Jax Briggs, Kitana, and the younger Sub-Zero, with Nightwolf functioning mostly as tech support. The warriors operated out of a hidden base from where Nightwolf and Raiden monitored portal openings; the warriors would fly dragon-shaped jets to deal with disturbances. Shao Kahn was something of an arc villain throughout the series, being responsible for allowing other realms to invade Earthrealm. The finale involved Kitana leading a rebellion from Outworld against her stepfather, Shao Kahn.

Mortal Kombat 2: The theory that could change everything!!!
Cole Young was created for the 2021 Mortal Kombat movie, but he should be killed off in Mortal Kombat 2. The sequel is now officially confirmed to be happening, and it's come as a bit of a surprise to many. After all, Mortal Kombat 2021 was far from a box office hit, earning only $83 million worldwide on a budget of $55 million, which after marketing costs and other expenses, would be far from profitable. Reviews were also mixed to poor, earning a mere 54 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
What seems to have saved Mortal Kombat 2021 from ending up as just another failed Hollywood reboot attempt is its somewhat unlikely status as being the most-streamed of Warner Bros.' 2021 simultaneous streaming/theatrical movie releases. Whether that means Mortal Kombat 2 will end up sent straight to HBO Max is unclear, but if a Mortal Kombat sequel is going to work — and avoid the pitfalls of 1997's abysmal Mortal Kombat: Annihilation — it needs to keep what worked about the reboot. Most notably, the R-rated gore and violence need to be left intact.

Mortal Kombat 2 : WB Can't Abandon Cole's Hero Story, because of this Reason...
If Cole Young from the Mortal Kombat movie is added to Mortal Kombat 12, then Netherrealm will have plenty of work to do in order to make him a better character. Cole lacks several traits that more popular Mortal Kombat alumni have in spades, and that works to his detriment. Although he is not completely inviable as a character, he needs much more development.
Cole was considered to be the movie's weakest aspect by several fans. Being an original character playing the protagonist in a film based on a popular game franchise, he had to deal with a negative stigma from the start. While not outright horrible, he still lacked anything truly special and ultimately proves too weak that some argue Cole should be killed off in the sequel. A game appearance could fill those holes in his character and make him a genuinely solid addition to the roster.
There are a few areas that Cole needs to work on in order to be a good Mortal Kombat character, and all of them can be believably achieved. He may be starting in an unenviable position, but Netherrealm has made great characters before, and they can do so again. With proper buildup, Cole Young can be another engaging member of Mortal Kombat's roster.
Every character in Mortal Kombat has their own recognizable fighting style. For instance, Jax has his mechanically-enhanced boxing, Mileena has lightning-fast kicks and sai strikes, and Sheeva is a powerhouse brawler. Cole, on the other hand, is a fairly average fistfighter without anything special about his technique.
Where Cole does have a chance to stand out is his power. Cole has the power to manifest armor, as well as a pair of tonfas. Making heavy use of these would be key to giving him an interesting moveset in Mortal Kombat 12. Cole could replace his pedestrian fisticuffs with a variety of tonfa techniques, although with him still being new to the weapons, his swings would likely use more brute force than finesse. In addition, with his armor's ability to absorb blows and redirect their energy, he could make use of a few counter abilities, giving him a gimmick of being a more defensive fighter.
Lacking his own identity as a fighter plagued Cole for most of Mortal Kombat's runtime, so focusing on his more unique talents will help him stand out in a good way. His tonfas and weaponized armor are a combo that no other character in the series has, so they will help him find his identity. With the Mortal Kombat tournament still happening after the film, Cole will need his own signature fighting style to stand a chance.

Mortal Kombat 2: WB Must Fix Sonya Blade After The First Movie's Failure

Mortal Kombat 12 : SUPERMAN being CONSIDERED for guest DLC, Evil Bizarro World Version + More
Zaterra was home to Reptile's race of Saurians who originated from Earthrealm long before it was annexed by Outworld through ten consecutive victories in Mortal Kombat. It used to be ruled by a matriarch. Her influence on the other members of the Saurian race is so strong that over time, they begin to revert back to a more primitive consciousness, the longer they are separated from her presence, which also affects their ability to maintain a humanoid appearance. In Mortal Kombat: Conquest, however, a former soldier of Reptile says that Zaterra wasn't destroyed because Shao Kahn came to the realization that the Saurians would make wonderful allies in his plans.

In the television series Mortal Kombat: Conquest, Zaterra is depicted as very rainy; thunder can be heard along with the drenching rain, and many transparent Saurians crawl along the limbs of the trees, broken statues and ancient ruins within that realm.
It is unclear when Zaterra was conquered by Outworld, but Nitara's vampire people kept records of their existence before they were annexed by Outworld as well. The known Saurians also seem to retain no memories of their home world, which suggests that the conquest of Zaterra happened in a distant past. Though the Saurian people inhabited the realm prior to being conquered, their first home was Earthrealm which they were forced to leave during the catastrophic battles between Shinnok and Raiden.

Mortal Kombat 12 : The Return Of The Dragon King Onaga (REMASTERED Documentary)
"Centuries ago, before the rule of Shao Kahn, Outworld was controlled by Onaga, the Dragon King. Recently Onaga has found his way back to Outworld and is attempting to reclaim his former empire by any means necessary."
Armageddon: "I had nearly regained my throne as Emperor of Outworld when my plans were undone. My pawn Shujinko had grown more powerful than I ever anticipated. Rallying warriors to his cause, he absorbed their fighting abilities and shattered the six Kamidogu, rendering me vulnerable. Only the Amulet I had retrieved from the sorcerer Quan Chi gave me protection. But as Shujinko landed his final blow, an outside force simultaneously ensnared my soul and expelled me from my host body. I found myself bound to a rune in the Netherrealm. I languished there until I was found by Shinnok, a fallen Elder God. Like me, he was trapped in that accursed place, denied domination of the realms by lesser beings. Shinnok offered me a chance at revenge: I would regain my rightful place as ruler of Outworld in return for my unquestioned servitude. I bow to no one, but I considered his offer. Shinnok was nearing his ascension from the Netherrealm, but he feared another defeat -- either by his enemies or his allies. He would emerge unchallenged if they were all eliminated. To achieve this, he needed an Edenian half-god named Daegon to defeat a fire elemental. The godlike energy Daegon would receive from that victory would bring about this slaughter. However, many other warriors also sought that power. Should Daegon fail, should some other warrior defeat Blaze, Shinnok's plans would go unfulfilled. Shinnok was most concerned with Shao Kahn, my most hated enemy. He proposed that I feign reluctance, but join Quan Chi's new alliance in order to stay close to the traitor. I would then follow him to the final battleground and prevent him from reaching Blaze. When Daegon finally won the prize, the kombatants would all be slain and I would be given Outworld to rule once more. As an added incentive, Shujinko, languishing in Shao Kahn's dungeon, would be mine to do with as I pleased. I did not trust this fallen Elder God. I suspected treachery. If all went as he had planned, I would most likely be among the dead. But I accepted his offer in order to free myself from that accursed Netherrealm. Satisfied, Shinnok conjured a portal and spoke through it. He then raised his hands and clenched his fists. With a demonic shout, my soul was freed from the binding symbol and I was released from the Netherrealm. I awoke in my original body, covered in dragon's blood. Before me stood Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, and my hated enemy, Shao Kahn. I will pose as Shinnok's pawn and join Quan Chi's alliance. Shao Kahn will never reach Blaze. But I would be a fool to allow Daegon victory. Once I have slain the fire elemental and have taken the prize for myself, I will have Shinnok's head. Onaga serves NO ONE!"
Storyline
A millennium ago, Onaga, also known as the Dragon King, was the true ruler of Outworld. Hoping to gain eternal life, he ordered the last known dragon egg to be kept, hoping that the blood of an infant dragon would grant him immortality. However, he died before this could be fulfilled. Shao Kahn, one of his chief advisers, had him poisoned and took over his rule of Outworld. His army, however, was kept in a mummified state. This army was considered undefeatable because Onaga possessed the innate power to raise the dead. By means of constant resurrection during battles, his army truly was undefeatable. During the millennia that followed, Onaga was apparently forgotten.
Quite some time before Liu Kang's victory over Goro and Shang Tsung at the Shaolin Mortal Kombat Tournament, Onaga communicated through death to Shujinko through an avatar named Damashi. He persuaded Shujinko to embark on a quest to unite the Kamidogu, claiming he was carrying out the will of the Elder Gods, as well as granting him the power to learn the fighting techniques of warriors he encountered. Shujinko readily embarked on his quest, beginning to set in motion events that Onaga hoped would lead to his eventual return to power. Additionally, a sect of holy men still dedicated to him had been guarding the egg of the last great dragon in a chamber of molten lava. During the events of Mortal Kombat II, they captured the Outworld elemental Blaze, who was forced to guard the egg until it was ready to hatch and revive the king.

Mortal Kombat 12 Exclusive: New CHARACTERS Will Be REVELAED During Story Mode Tournament + More!
The Mortal Kombat franchise has existed for almost three decades by now, and in that time, it's spawned a list of highly popular and recognizable characters. Foundational to that popularity is that this cast all met or continued to meet at a particular moment when Earthrealm's future seemed to be at its most bleak.
