TMN | TRANSIT - Los Angeles MTA Strike - Day 6 (2000)
TMN: s1e41 | TRANSIT - Los Angeles MTA Strike - Day 6 (2000)
Los Angeles CA | September 21, 2000 | 1305 Hrs
Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) and the United Transportation Union (UTU) had an unsuccessful round of last minute talks in regards to key dispute issues; the use of more part-time employees and contracting off bus lines to private regional bus companies (White & Menendez, 2000).
As a result, the United Transportation Union (UTU) board members and its President James A. Williams authorized a general strike (ABC News, 2000). Other unions such as Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) joined the UTU workers on the picket lines as an act of solidarity (White & Menendez, 2000).
As the MTA strike loomed on thus paralyzing almost all of Los Angeles County since September 16, 2000; for the sixth day Thursday, thousands of bus and train operators, mechanics and maintenance workers marched onto Metro Headquarters adjacent to Union Station for their voices to be heard.
The strike ended 27 days later with a tentative agreement, the MTA board unanimously approved the new agreement, it was ratified by members of UTU later that evening (Whitaker, 2000). By October 19, 2000, the MTA was in full operation once again.
The MTA strike was a prelude to another strike a mere three years later where the ATU would picket for shared healthcare cost (Streeter & Bernstein, 2003). The work stoppage on public transportation would harness dreadful ramifications for many years.
By the end of the decade the MTA board either eliminated or hand over countless of bus routes to local municipal bus agencies in order to concentrate more on Los Angeles rail development (Grinberg, 2006) & (Freemark, 2017). Lines 161 and 460 are last remaining bus routes that travels outside of Los Angeles County (MTA, 2009).
These are scenes of that afternoon.

TMN | TRANSIT - MTA Regional Rebuild/Central Maintenance
TMN: s1e9 | TRANSIT - MTA Regional Rebuild Center (Formerly known as SCRTD Central Maintenance Facility)
Los Angeles CA | December 23, 1998 | 11:45 Hrs
The Central Maintenance Facility CMF was the crown jewel of the Southern California Rapid Transit District SCRTD, it was planned in 1977 and completed on April 25, 1987, "It's our pride and joy," said Phillip Meyers, a Chief Engineer at RTD (Headways, 1987). It was the largest construction project second only to the Metro Rail Project to Long Beach (Headways, 1987). February 1, 1993, following the merger with LACTC; the newly formed MTA renamed the old RTD CMF to Regional Rebuild Center RRC in 1995 (MDRL, 2016). This location is the internal heartbeat of the agency; operational support services of all Metro divisions using a state of the art Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) for inventory and moving parts on a robotized equipment vehicle (Headways, 1987). The center rebuilds, paints and upgrades all metro, other municipal agencies, police and Los Angeles Unified School District buses (MDRL, 2016). On this particular day, the RRC had an open house and select sections of the center was showcased to the public.

TMN | AGENDA 21 - Chemtrails Over The Los Angeles Basin (Not a Contrail)
TMN: s1e13 | AGENDA 21 - Chemtrails Over The Los Angeles Basin
Long Beach CA | September 26 | 15:15 Hrs
Have you seen cloudy trails high in the sky and just thinking they were natural or simply planes flying overhead that leave trails behind? These trails are "weather modification/geo-engineering programs" widely known as "chemtrails" and not "contrails" as government officials easily misinform the public when asked questions about "chemtrails". Planes at high altitudes are spraying toxic chemicals such as barium, aluminum, and strontium that later fall to the ground, ending up in our bodies by water, soil and the air.
Please do you own research on the differences of contrails and chemtrails; be well informed and watch the skies.
The first scene was filmed on the San Gabriel River Trail adjacent to El Dorado Park in Long Beach; the second scene was filmed in Montebello California a day later. The last scene you can see a plane at a very high altitude spraying chemicals into the air thus creating milky clouds.

TMN | eBike - Ballona Creek Bike Path - Round Trip
TMN: s1e17 Ballona Creek Bike Path - Round Trip
Culver City CA | September 5, 2018 | 11:31 Hrs
After discovering the Ballona Creek Bike path on a map, I immediately thought this bike path would be the nicest in town since it goes through the heart of West Los Angeles. After riding the path from start to finish, I was disappointed by the lack of care and maintenance. The bike path starts at Syd Kronenthal Park near the intersection of National and Jefferson Blvd's in Culver City and ends at Playa Del Rey Beach in Los Angeles. The pavement is broken and at times underwater underneath the Duquesne Ave overpass. The nicest part of the bike path is between Duquesne Ave and Sepulveda Blvd in Culver City.
A local resident called the areas of the bike path between Sepulveda Blvd and the UCLA Marina Aquatic Center in Marina Del Rey "the caution zone". The path is uneven, pavement has lots of pot holes and homeless encampments all around in a few miles stretch of sketchy neighborhoods. Milton Street Park within the caution zone constantly has questionable characters hanging out there such as crack heads, stoners, teens playing loud music, drinking and prostitutes from early evenings to midnight. Riders will get a big whiff of second hand marijuana smell when cruising by the park.
From the UCLA Marina Aquatic Center to Playa Del Rey Beach, the path is in great shape, be watchful for other cyclists, and pedestrians along the way. Mornings to late afternoons are safe for riding or walking your dog. During the evenings ride in groups of 2 or more. Unless you are on an ebike or eScooter, do not ride the bike path after hours or alone.
The Ballona Creek Bike Path is a great to get through West Los Angeles without an automobile. At the entrance of The Ballona Creek Bike path at Syd Kronenthal Park, the La Cienega and Jefferson Metro Expo Line station is just a half mile away on Jefferson Blvd.

TMN: s1e15 | POLITICS/PROTEST - Democratic National Convention (2000)
Los Angeles CA | August 16, 2000 | 17:15 Hrs
This particular protest was held at Pershing square in Downtown Los Angeles during the last two days of the Democratic National Convention. The first two days of the DNC, violent protest broke out adjacent to the staples center where the convention was being held. The LAPD directed the many protestors to a handful of "Protest Zones" throughout the city. Pershing square is one of those zones for planned protests during the DNC. The majority of the protesters were socialist, anarchist and stop police brutality activists but all were peaceful due to the large presence of police officers at every corner. These are scenes of that evening.
