We need to learn to say “NO” to things that are not serving us.
Say “NO” to the habits, activities and people in your personal and professional life that does not contribute to your greater needs.
Say “NO” to anything and everything that does not directly serve you AND help you advance in your life and business.
Who Do You Say “NO” To?
Say “NO” to…the people that are negative or who don’t support your dream; the person that doesn’t support your choice to eat healthier, stop drinking or exercise more; the friends that encourage bad habits; the people in your organization that create drama or perpetuate negativity; the individuals that are bad influences; and lastly, say “NO” to those who are dragging you down.
One of the greatest things you can do to succeed in your relationships, business and life is to say “NO”.
What do you say “NO” to?
Say “NO” to your unfavorable personal habits; to mundane tasks; and to your unproductive activities. We all have the ability to get stuck in a cycle of repeated acts that are not serving us well.
It is easy to get caught up in things that don’t matter. You only have 24 hours a day and several of those hours are set aside for necessary rest and rejuvenation. So don’t spend wasted time on empty activities and doing things that don’t contribute to your bottom line and creating profits in your business. Be very wary of your time and how that time is being utilized.
Having a heightened state of awareness is the FIRST step towards being able to approach things differently. Awareness will allow you to grow as a human and thrive in your business.
For example, how much time do you spend on social media every day? Maybe it feels like you’re just checking in here and there throughout the day, but in reality what is the accumulation of all that time? There is a massive difference between consuming versus producing. Being successful in business is all about obtaining productivity.
SECOND, create a list of the things you are going to say “NO” to and keep it present to serve as a reminder and encouragement. You’ll find yourself happier, more productive and in a better state of mind because you’re only allowing and inviting things into your life and business that serve you in your positive and productive zone.
Say “NO” to anything and everything that does not directly contribute to a positive and fulfilling life and the execution of your business plan to experience massive success.

Everyone LOVES a good COMEBACK story!
After all, we all appreciate it when an individual finds success after a failure or mistake. It’s inspirational to hear a story of someone overcoming against all odds. Or equally when a person is beaten down and fights their way back up.If you're at a low or rebuilding or reinventing your business it can be a challenging time. Let’s be honest, if you’re a “lifer” in Network Marketing, at some point you are going to have to rebuild. That’s just the way it goes. Actually for a majority of people, we eventually will have the need to start over or make a significant shift at some point in our lives. Be that as it may, f you haven’t yet had that comeback or come-UP story yet, good for you!
Just remember, that if you are fighting to get “it” back…everyone is in your corner. Let me say that again…EVERYONE IS IN YOUR CORNER. In spite of the situation, we are rooting you on!
Some people may not appear to be supportive and not everyone will be encouraging. Instead, they can be jealous, jaded or too focused on their own circumstances. Surprisingly, they may not understand your greater intention of striving for time freedom, financial independence, etc.
The short term sacrifice you will make for long term success can be uncomfortable for those close to you. But when you succeed, they will nonetheless be there FOR you and are going to be proud OF you. Know that they undoubtedly wanted to see you win the whole time, they may just not have been able to show it.
“It’s a new YEAR and a new YOU!”
This is the time of year for reflection, planning and preparing for what’s ahead. Now that we wrap up 2022, I urge you to identify what you can do to make 2023 an even better year. You can change anytime you want, and it's important to realize that all you have to do is make a decision.

What is a pivot in business?
A pivot is moving your business in a different direction and/or doing something differently than you already do. There are, however, some principles that never change. For example, The Success Principles by Jack Canfield is a book with proven, timeless principles that remain constant. And while those principles don’t change, sometimes the strategy or implementation of them does.
As a Network Marketer, you need to have multiple ways of doing something rather than just one way. So, how do you know when you need to pivot? Quite simply, we pivot when we need to…when we realize that what we’re doing is not working. Therefore, we pivot when necessary; don’t just pivot for the sake of pivoting.
Sometimes market conditions force us to change. Or for example, a massive disruption like the pandemic; that made us all pivot, but we don’t need a major life event to force us to make a change.
However, I advise you to be slow to make changes. Every time you make a change that affects the team it could potentially slow things down because generally people resist change. So, if what you are doing is working, there is probably no need to pivot. Stick to it.
Conversely, if what you are doing is working, but you feel it could be working BETTER, you pivot. Be sure that your strategy is thoroughly thought-out, make small modifications, give it ample time to play out, observe how well it works and then keep it or modify it again.
“One definition of success is to repeat what works, delete what doesn’t.”
Sometimes you pivot and it works, and sometimes you pivot and realize you need to go back to what you were doing prior to the pivot. Or maybe what you’re doing is working and instead of pivoting, you enhance what you’re already doing.

Be accountable to yourself and ask, “Am I a learner or an implementer, a producer or consumer?”
Some of us get caught up in the shuffle. So instead of “doing” the business, or in this example being an implementer/producer, one becomes a consummate learner/consumer. You are showing up for all the zooms, meetings, conventions, conference calls, etc. and you’re reading the books, emails, texts, etc. You are involved and consuming the information from your upline, your team, the company, etc., BUT……
What Does Growing a Business Involve?
To grow a business, you need to be out there intentionally working the business. Learning is great, but to succeed you’ve got to be implementing. ACTION is the core of success.
You can be learning with the intent of implementing, however, the application of the knowledge is what makes the difference. What you want to ask yourself is how can you further your knowledge to then apply to your business to get better results?
Are You Learning AND Implementing?
Be straightforward with yourself. Are you a learner who implements? Because, that’s where you want to be. Network Marketing is a self-motivating endeavor. No one is really going to make you accountable other than yourself. Some people come by this naturally, but for most of us it can be challenging. If you want to be successful and ignite your Network Marketing business, you need to “stay close to the fire”.
What does that mean exactly? In effect, staying close to the fire involves being completely plugged into your team, organization, company and the profession.
After all, when you carefully build a fire and strike the match, it will ignite!
In general, here’s five ways to stay in the loop and close to the fire to ignite your Network Marketing business:
Training
Show up for trainings…team trainings, company trainings, zooms, etc. Just like a body working out, your skills and organization will certainly grow with consistent training.
Social Media
Get involved in the team and company social media groups. It's equally important to check in regularly, participate and invite others to join.
Events
Attend local, regional and national events. It is important to be present as much as possible, especially if you want to be seen as a strong leader.
Engage
Engage with your team on a regular basis. It is particularly important to make yourself available to the individuals that make up your organization.
Follow
In addition to connecting with your immediate upline and downline, follow the producers in your company…the individuals that are participating in the activities it takes to support and grow their organization.
“DO what the do-ers are doing,
DON’T do what the don’t-ers are doing.”
I challenge you to take an honest look at yourself and your current situation. Are you doing everything you can do to stay close to the fire in your Network Marketing business?
Take a few minutes right now for a personal inventory. Are you plugged into your company and team’s social media groups; attending trainings and events; engaging with your team members on a regular basis; and surrounding yourself with the people making “it” happen?

If you’re going to be a professional in Network Marketing,
why would you want to fail at it?
If you’re going to be in Network Marketing why would you want to fail at it?
After all, your objective is to NOT suck. Yep, I’m quite frankly talking about “How to Not Suck at Network Marketing”.
It appears to be effortless for the individual that has a background in sales, that is outgoing, exudes self-confidence, has influence, is likeable, etc. However, the road to success can be harder for the individual that doesn’t possess those traits.
So, how do YOU not suck at Network Marketing?
Here’s an exercise to help you sharpen your skill set…
List
Write down all the things you do in Network Marketing. Specifically list every single role and responsibility you have in your business.
Examples include generating leads, inviting, overcoming objections, follow-up, closing, launching new reps, team building, leadership, marketing, etc.
Rate
Subsequently, rate yourself for each category on a scale from 1-10. Assign a number to each task that represents how you perform it. Are you a 3? Are you a 9? Or are you somewhere in the middle? Be objective and honest! I’d suggest you set a goal to be a minimum of 7 to 8.
Improve
Once you’ve completed your list, look at each category and ask yourself, “How do I improve?”
We all have room for improvement. Even the biggest leaders in the profession are continually seeking to grow and further develop their skills.
Start with the lowest rated category and work on it. Do whatever it takes to bring that rating up. Study the subject, practice, observe others, etc. We learn by doing.
“Become obsessed with getting good.”
There is a pathway to improvement. Everything we do in this business is learnable and something you can work on and improve upon. Consequently, you get better to get better results.

Inviting is the single most important activity in Network Marketing.
Whether you are exposing people to your product or service or inviting someone to take a look at your business, it is the ONE thing that makes the biggest difference in your business.
As a matter of fact, inviting is the fundamental activity that brings about the responsibilities of growing a Network Marketing organization. Inviting leads to launching new distributors, team building, momentum, revenue production, etc. Inviting is, undoubtedly, something you will never stop doing in your ever-growing business. That why it is so vital to learn how to get good at inviting!
So, how do you get good at inviting?
There are many different approaches to inviting. The following are four ways to develop and fine-tune your invite.
Ask
Ask simple, peak interest questions. For example, one of my all-time favorites is…
“Do you keep your options open outside of what you’re currently doing?”
You just need a handful of conversation starters that will help you kick-off a dialogue. It is even more important for new people in your organization to know who to talk to and what to say.
Observe
Observe experts or others that have nailed the art of the invite. In like fashion, learn by watching and listening; mirror and model others’ behavior until you have your own style.
Practice
Your goal is to get comfortable and the only way you’re going to be able to do that is by practicing. Record yourself to uncover your strengths and weaknesses. Tweak and refine your approach. Be sure to let your sponsor, upline, etc. listen to you and/or your recording(s) to provide constructive feedback.
Scripts
Scripts provide a template of a conversation from which to work and a roadmap that helps get results.
Scripts are so reliable and valuable that I created the Little Black Book of Scripts. This book provides scripts for literally every conceivable situation you’ll find yourself in as you’re inviting and prospecting.

Prospecting reluctance is the fear of engaging people in conversation.
Basically, it is the fear of or reluctance to invite a prospect to take a look at and/or talk to people about your product or service.
Although it's common, prospecting is undoubtedly the PRIMARY activitythat will make you the most money, provide the biggest growth, and deliver the greatest success in your Network Marketing business.
Even if you are utilizing social media, you certainly still have to reach out to the people that you are attracting; there is no avoiding it.
It is generally normal to have a hesitation about approaching people, a fear of how we are being perceived and/or to be intimidated by others. However to be successful, you have to push past that reluctance, face the fear, experience it, work your way through it and then get on the other side. Because if you don’t, you’ll be stuck.
As an illustration…early in my career I had prospecting reluctance, but I wanted what was on the other side of the fear more than I wanted to be stuck in the reluctance. So, I prospected despite my angst. Do not allow the fear to dictate your behavior.
When you sit down to prospect are you paralyzed by fear, in a state of reluctance, or find yourself procrastinating? Or do you find your team members in this state of being stuck?
Here’s some simple actions to put Prospecting Reluctance behind you…
Linking Strategy
You make ONE call. After you’re finished, sit for a bit and feel the accomplishment of that one call…then make another call. In short, if you can make one call you can make a second call, right?
Then take that one experience and do it again and again and again and again and again…linking the experiences together.

Power Hour
Commit 60 minutes of uninterrupted time to prospect. Due to that 60 minutes of dedicated prospecting time, you will get into a productive groove and accomplish so much more than small snippets of time will allow.
Check out Episode #199, “Creating Momentum with a Stagnant Team”.
In that previous week’s podcast I discuss Momentum in more detail. The momentum of making calls will make you more comfortable as you get into the flow of “doing”.
Practice
Build practice into your routine to improve your skill set. If you’re not practicing to improve how you feel about what you do, you’re going to continue to put it off.
As I have noted, there is a strong correlation between confidence and competence. Consequently, when you’re highly skilled at something you don't experience a reluctance to that activity.
For this purpose grab someone to prospect with you. Just like working with a fitness coach, as a result you push yourself further with another than by yourself. Collaborate until you are comfortable on your own.
