LYRICS:
Hey girl there in my reflection
Man this world’s been messing
It’s been messing with your mind
Hey girl, someone stole your smile now
It’s been a little while now
Happiness is hard to find
Letting everybody and their mother try to tell you what you’re worth
What you’re worth
When did you forget that the one who made you told you what you’re worth
Repeat after me
I’m a blood bought, battle fought, all my shame long gone
Made new child of the king
I’m an amen, testify, holy water baptized
Went down and came up clean
I’m a soul been saved
By that amazing grace
And now there ain’t no way girl
Can’t take that away girl
Don’t forget you’re free
It’s who you’re made to be
Hey girl
Hey girl, don’t you know you’re beautiful
Crazy kind of wonderful
And there’s no one like you
Hey girl, you don’t need to measure up
You are the treasure of
The God who loves you
No more letting everybody and their mother try to tell you what you’re worth
What you’re worth
And if you should forget, let the one who made you tell you what you’re worth
And repeat after me
Hey girl, I’m glad we had this talk now
Think we said it all now
But here’s a little last advice
Live free, walk in victory
And repeat after me

LYRICS
Come all you weary
Come all you thirsty
Come to the well
That never runs dry
Drink of the Water
Come and thirst no more
Come all you sinners
Come find His mercy
Come to the table
He will satisfy
Taste of His goodness
Find what you’re looking for
For God so loved
The world that He gave us
His one and only
Son to save us
Whoever believes in Him
Will live forever
Bring all your failures
Bring your addictions
Come lay them down
At the foot of the cross
Jesus is waiting there
With open arms
See His open arms
The power of Hell
Forever defeated
Now it is well
I’m walking in freedom
For God so loved
God so loved the world
Praise God
Praise God
From whom all blessings flow
Praise Him
Praise Him
For the wonders of His love
Bring all your failures
Bring your addictions
Come lay them down
At the foot of the cross
Jesus is waiting
God so loved the world

Lyrics:
Who will I be when trouble comes calling for me
Will I live the way I believe
When I’m backed up against the wall
What kind of heart do I have in my chest
Does it beat for my Savior or just for my flesh
What will I do in the moment that everything falls
I’m gonna stand
In a world that’s breaking
Stand
For a truth unchanging
I’m not ashamed, I’ve considered the cost
I’ll stay right here at the foot of the cross
And stand
They can call me a fool or stubborn for following You
For trusting without any proof
But I’ve seen You here through it all
So what kind of person do I want to be
Am I committed to You or committed to me
What will I choose the second that everything falls
Stand up
For the one who gave everything
Stand up
Because You deserve all of me
I won’t give up, I won’t give in
And if it takes all I am
I’m gonna stand
In a world that’s breaking
Stand
For a truth unchanging
I’m not ashamed, I’ve considered the cost
I’ll stay right here at the foot of Your cross
And stand

Lyrics:
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness
They will be filled
They will be filled
This is the kingdom
This is the kingdom
This is the kingdom of heaven
Ask and He will
Ask and He will
This is the kingdom
This is the kingdom
This is the kingdom of heaven
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness
For theirs is the kingdom
Theirs is the kingdom
Theirs is the kingdom of heaven
Seek first the kingdom and all will be added
You will be filled
You will be filled
This is the kingdom
This is the kingdom
This is the kingdom of heaven
Ask and He will
Ask and He will
This is the kingdom
This is the kingdom
This is the kingdom of heaven
Ask and you will receive
Seek and you will find
Knock and the door will be opened
Knock and the door will be opened wide
Seek first the kingdom and all will be added
You will be filled
You will be filled
This is the kingdom
This is the kingdom
This is the kingdom of heaven
Ask and He will
Ask and He will
This is the kingdom
This is the kingdom
This is the kingdom of heaven

LYRICS:
Seven years old, third row pew
John 3:16, something changed in me
Red letters coming off the page
Flooding my heart with amazing grace
I knew then I believed
And those roots run deep
Oh I been through some faith shaking hard times Yeah
But nothing’s gonna make me forget
Every one of those Sunday sermons
Every time that choir would sing
I could hear my Savior calling, telling me how much He loves me
No matter what the world throws at me
I know His word is true
It all started with heart stirring, spirit moving Sunday Sermons
Devil gonna try and take me out of that church
But you can’t take the church out of me
Gonna have my worries, well that’s part of life
But then I think of those stories ‘bout what my God can do
He’s still moving like He did back then
Born again people, can I get an amen?
We’ve all seen the proof
He makes all things new
Even all those faith shaking hard times, yeah
I never wanna stop remembering
Jesus loves me
This I know
For the Bible tells me so
Jesus loves me
Ain’t no doubt
So I’m gonna keep on talking ‘bout
Every one of those Sunday sermons
Every time that choir would sing
I could hear my Savior calling, telling me how much He loves me
No matter what the world throws at me
I know I’ll make it through
All because of those heart stirring, spirit moving Sunday Sermons

Healer
It’s hard to see the storm blowing over any time soon
It’s hard to hear any hope in the headlines
Or how to know what’s true
We’ve been trusting in the broken to make us whole
But there’s no new rescue coming
It’s still the one we’ve always known
We need the Healer
We don’t need another hero
We need the Healer
Deep down every hurting heart knows
We need the Healer
And only Jesus is the Healer
The whole world’s looking for something
But what we need is someone
And every road leads back to one name
When all the searching is done
Cause there’s no world view, no religion
That can make the blind eyes see
Let the eyes of our heart be opened
To the healing that we need
We need the Healer
We don’t need another hero
We need the Healer
Deep down every hurting heart knows
We need the Healer
And only Jesus is the Healer
More than comfort we need the King
More than gifts we need the Giver
More than blessings we need Your Presence
More than the healing we need the Healer
We need the Healer
We don’t need another hero
We need the Healer
Deep down every hurting heart knows
We need the Healer
Cause only Jesus is the Healer
Yes we need the, yes we need the Healer
No other name but Jesus is the Healer
Come now Jesus be the Healer

We debunk Mecca on the Sea Trade Route as well!
Dr Patrica Crone pretty much debunked any possibility of a land trade route through Mecca.
We now look at whether there was any Sea trade route, via the Red Sea through Mecca as well. Otherwise, how did Mecca become rich and famous, and where did the Standard Islamic Narrative get all its information that Mecca was the center of trade from the time of Alexander the Great (328 BC), right up until the time of Muhammad?
Is this historical?
According to the historical account, Alexander the Great, in the 4th century BC tried to get to Egypt by sea by going around the Arab Peninsula, hoping that he could attack Egypt by surprise by coming by sea.
The 1st expedition only got as far as Bahrain, the 2nd to the Gulf of Oman, while the 3rd expedition made it around Arabia, and up the Red Sea, all the way to Egypt, but it had to turn around and come back, as there was no ports to get supplies.
No place for Supplies, on the Arabian coast? Why?
Here’s why…
To understand the problem, we must look at a Topographical map, where you will see the Water ways in the Red Sea (Chiara Zazzaro - 2013).
In the center of the Red Sea is a deep-water channel, which accommodates large modern ships today. But there were no large container ships in the 7th century. They used small boats which employed sails in order to be pushed by the wind.
When one looks to the West of the deep central channel one can see that there are two shallower water channels where these smaller boats went, in order to stay close to the Western shore where they could get provisions.
And why did they have to stay close to just the Western shore?
Unlike the Eastern Arabian shore which was arid, with no fresh water, and thus few people or towns, the Western African shore had plenty of fresh water, with larger populations, and plenty of provisions.
What’s more, the West coast had easily accessible ports, in fact 5 of them!
We know their names, because much was written about these ports in the historical books.
The 5 coastal cities along the Red Sea’s Western coast included:
•Assab, in Eritrea (dated to 246 BC)
•Adulis, in Eritrea (dated to 79 AD)
•Suaken, in the Sudan (dated to 170 AD)
•Berenice, in Egypt (dated to 275 BC)
•Safaga, in Egypt (dated to 282 BC)
Notice that their dates all predate Islam.
What's more, all 5 of these ports are a day’s distance by boat from each other.
Meanwhile, on the Red Sea’s Eastern Arabian coast, only Yanbu is known, created as Yathrib’s port city.
So, what about Jeddah, as the port city for Mecca?
According to Dr G. R. Hawting, we have no history for Jeddah until the 8th century. It seems that Jeddah was created as the new port city for around the 8th century AD.
Why? Because neither Jeddah nor Mecca had natural water, nor a population large enough to accommodate early trade, so that is why there is no reference to either of these two cities before the 8th century.
The problem for Muslims, however, is that without Mecca, what then happens to 7th c. Islam?
This, yet again, suggests pretty clearly that the Standard Islamic Narrative is wrong about Mecca, as history is proving that not only did the land trade route not go through it, the Red Sea trade route didn't either.
Without Mecca, there is no Muhammad, nor a Qur'an from there, and without them, there really is NO ISLAM!

With NO WATER, there's NO FOOD, PEOPLE, or HISTORY!
According to the Standard Islamic Narrative, Mecca has been a city which has existed since the time of Adam and Eve, so it is the oldest city in history.
It is where Abraham lived in 1900 BC (see Surah 21:51-71), so it has to be pretty historical.
It is also where Muhammad was born and lived for his first 52 years, so it must have been around by the 6th - 7th centuries.
But there is a problem with these accounts, because in order for Mecca to be that historical it needs one simple ingredient...WATER.
And Mecca is in a desert, with little to no water at all (Note: the Zam-Zam well we will soon prove is not historical at all either).
So, why is water important?
•Where there is a desert, there’s no water
•Where there is no water, there’s no food
•Where there is no food, there’s no people
•Where there are no people, there’s no towns
•Where there are no towns, there’s no cities
•Where there are no cities, there’s no civilization
•Where there is no civilization, there’s NO HISTORY!
And if Mecca has no history, than Muhammad could have not come from there.
If there is no one named Muhammad living in Mecca, than there can be no Qur'an.
Without Mecca, Muhammad, or the Qur'an, then there is simply no Islam.
They all depend on WATER!
So, the next time a Muslim starts waxing eloquent about his prophet living in Mecca and doing all these wonderful things there...simply remind him of two words - NO WATER...

Do the Ottoman Turks impact Mecca's origins?
If Mecca is the oldest city because (according to the Standard Islamic Narrative), it is where Adam and Eve were thrown down to, and where Abraham lived, then there should be lots of evidence for it historically.
But we can't find anything written about it at all anywhere until 741 AD (which is a good 100 years after Muhammad supposedly died), in a document known as "The ‘Apocalypse of Pseudo-Methodius Continuatio Byzantia Arabica".
This is what that document says: “Habdelmele [Abd al Malik], assuming the apex of his kingdom, ruled for 20 years. In the first year of his rule, he directed all the experience and virtue of the mind of his army against Habdella [Abdullah al Zubair] (whom his father had attacked so many times in various wars) all the way finally to Macca - as they consider it, the home of Abraham, which lies in the desert between Ur of the Chaldeans [magicians*] and Carra the city of Mesopotamia”.
So, we find the first reference to the city Mecca in this document, referring to Mecca situated between the city of Ur (Abraham's city) and the city of Carra, in Mesopotamia (the land between the two rivers, which are the Tigris and the Euphrates).
But that places Mecca just south of Ur, which in the 8th century was located in what is known as southern Turkey today, hundreds of miles too far north.
Some may point out that Ur is in southern Iraq today, but that wasn't the case in the 8th century, because the Iraqi Ur was first discovered by J.E. Taylor in 1853.
So, prior to that time everyone assumed Ur was near Edessa, just south of it, and between Edessa and Harran (the town of Abraham’s brother), thus locating the original 741 Mecca in that locale.
What's more, when you look at that 741 AD Mecca it is directly north of the present day Mecca.
A 697 AD an inscription was created near Ṭāʾif (located just south east of present day Mecca) which referred to the building called ‘Al-Masjid al-Ḥarām’ (commonly known as the ‘Ka’aba’?), being built at that time. This is the late 7th century, and is close to the place that later became known as Mecca (Hejaz), but it wasn’t yet called Mecca in this inscription.
So, what artifacts have been found in present day Mecca to support its ancient historicity? This was a question asked by Dan Gibson to a group of Saudi Arabian archaeologists a number of years ago, since with all the amazing building projects surrounding the Ka'aba there must have been many artifacts discovered when digging the foundations for those large skyscrapers.
They responded that the oldest artifact they have been able to find was an old Ottoman Fort, built after 1299 AD, which is over 600 years after Muhammad was supposed to have lived there! Nothing earlier had been found, suggesting that the history of Mecca may have more to do with the Ottoman Turks than what we have been told previously.
What the Turks had to do with Mecca is too early to say, but what these discoveries do tell us is that once again it looks like the historical evidence we are discovering confronts the Standard Islamic Narrative for the authenticity and credibility of Mecca historically.

ZamZam Water from Allah, & is it Inexhaustible?
David Chappelle, an American comic who recently converted to Islam, in an interview with David Letterman, claimed that the ZamZam well was created by Allah for Hagar (so during the time of Abraham), and that the water in the well is from Allah himself, and that it is inexhaustible; in other words Allah has provided enough water there for not only the inhabitants in Mecca (now 2 million), but the pilgrims who flock there from all over the Muslim world (another 2 million every year), added to the millions of Muslims who drink ZamZam water all over the Muslim world every day.
Almost every Muslim you meet believes what Chappelle claimed, suggesting that this well is truly one of the great wonders of the world.
But is any of this true?
Dr Smith and Al Fadi investigate these claims and debunks every one of them by simply researching what we know of the ZamZam well historically, and where it gets its water from to feed the millions who depend on it.
The answers you will see in this episode will shock you!

New MAPS debunk Muslims claims about Mecca!
Muslims have always claimed that Mecca was on the Trade route, both by land and by sea (via Jeddah). Dr Pratricia Crone debunked the land trade route back in 1987. We debunked the sea trade route in 2021.
Now new technology has come to our disposal which supports exactly what Dr Patricia Crone was trying to say back in 1987, that Mecca was not on the localized Western Arabian trade route, because it was down off that route, about 3,000 feet below it, and therefore impractical for caravans to descend that far, especially when it had little to no water, nor vegetation to support caravans.
When you look at the new topographical maps which are being provided today you can see clearly that the local Arabian trade route began in Aden in the south, and went up to San'a in Yemen, then to Najran in Arabia, then along the Western plateau to Ta'if, and from there, still on the plateau, to Yathrib, and from there on up to Khaybar, Tabuk, Petra, and then to Gaza on the Mediterranean Sea.
The Topographical maps clearly show us that Mecca is off that plateau, in fact a good 3,000 feet below Ta'if.
So, it would make no sense for the caravans from Yemen to come down the 3,000 feet to Mecca, especially since it had no water, which means no food as well, and then climb back up the 3,000 feet to get to Yathrib, when they could have gone directly there from Taif, a good day's camel trek at that time.
These topographical maps once again not only support Dr Patricia Crone but confront the 'Standard Islamic Narrative', which has always maintained that Mecca had to be on the Trade route in order for it to have any importance.
But if Mecca wasn't on that route, and thus had no importance, than how could the Kabah be there, how could Muhammad have been there, and how could the Qur'an have been derived from there? In one fell swoop Dr Crone has brought doubt historically to both Mecca, Muhammad, the Qur'an and therefore to Islam as well.

Has Odon found the group who helped create Islam?
Odon now takes us to who he thinks was the group who helped create the Islam of the 7th-8th centuries.
He begins by looking at the phrase 'Ahl-al-Kitab' which Muslims suggest means 'people of the Book' (Jews, Christians and Muslims, as Islam sees them as ‘having received sacred scriptures’). To understand this phrase, Odon believes we need to look at the context found in the Qur'an (confronting most scholars who believe there is no context since the Quran is too mysterious a book to get anything of historical value from it).
But Odon believes new Islamic studies have changed the game, demanding that we put the Qur'an in its historical context. In the Qur'an the phrase 'ahl-al-Kitab' is found 32 times, suggesting it’s pretty
significant. Furthermore, the word 'kitab' is also found 46 times (apart from ‘Ahl-al-Kitab’) in phrases where it designates a community.
Etymologically, however, the phrase 'ahl-al-Kitab' means a 'people of the scriptures', or the 'writings', or even the 'law' (i.e. the Torah?).
The ‘iconic passage’ for this term is in Surah 4:153-157. Odon notes that these verses are a sort of commentary about these ‘people of the scriptures’, who 'covered' the teachings about God and Jesus, while accusing the Rabbis for claiming that they killed Jesus.
The word 'Kuffar' which Muslims claim are unbelievers, Odon suggests are instead the Rabbinical Jews, who are the 'Coverers', the meaning of the word 'Kuffar'. They ‘covered’ their sacred scriptures using the Talmuds. So, the Qur’an says that their sin was that they rejected Jesus and so covered the prophecies about him in their scriptures.
These passages make a distinction within the 'ahl-al-Kitab' between those who are the ‘good community’ (the Ummah), also, referred to as the 'standing' and 'righteous' community (See Surah 3:113-116, and verse 199).
Yet, not all of the 'ahl-al-Kitab' are good, just a few. They have the good and unaltered sacred text and won't 'sell the verses for a low price' as the 'coverers' do. This is what the preachers of the Quran are about: teaching the ‘Believers’ the difference between the good ‘people of the book’ (this ‘good Ummah’) and the wrong ones (the ‘coverers’).
The ‘Believers’ (the ‘Muminun’) are the audience of the preachers. They are Christianized Arabs, who have left Christianity, rejected the divinity of Jesus, and adopted the new creed and new customs that are being taught by the Qur’anic preachers.
For example, in Surah 5:5, the ‘Believers’ can take women and food from the 'ahl-al-Kitab' (implicitly the ‘good people of the book’ since the bad ones are vividly criticized by the preachers), hence forming an alliance. We see also in Surah 24:3 (also in 2:221) that the ‘Believers’ may not marry any of the 'Associaters' (Christians who associate Jesus with God), which means that those ‘good people of the book’ were not Christians.
Who were then the ‘good people of the book’? What was this ‘right community’? They are what Odon calls ‘The Qur'anic Nazarenes’, a Jewish group who came to deliver the Qur’anic preaching to the Arabs of the early 7th century, either by preaching themselves, or by teaching their Nazarene creed to some Arab preachers (Muhammad?). They would then persuade Christians Arabs to convert to the new ‘Nazarene’ faith, turning them into ‘Believers’ (Muminun).
Their teachings covered a vast array: obeying Jewish dietary laws, forming marriage alliances, and considering the Quranic Nazarenes as close friends (Surah 5:82 shows that the enemies of the Qur'anic Nazarenes are the Jews and Christians, while true believers (Muminun) are the closest to the Nazarenes). But most of all, abiding by a divine covenant defined in Surah 2:125-127, whose goal is to bring the good 'ahl-al-Kitab' (the Quranic Nazarenes) together with the Arabs to conquer Jerusalem, in order to rebuild its Temple. Odon now takes us to who he thinks was the group who helped create the Islam of the 7th-8th centuries.
By the 7th century they wanted to take back Jerusalem in order to trigger the return of the Messiah, who would then bring about the Apocalypse, so they made an alliance with some Christian Arabs to make this happen.
Yet, after Jerusalem was conquered, the Apocalypse never happened, so the Arabs struggled with leader after leader who tried to take on that role themselves, creating autonomous regions, and claiming power 'in the name of God'.
Ibn Zubayr took on this mantle, as did others, but the strongest amongst these 'Messianic figures' was Abd al-Malik, who believed he was God’s caliph (God’s lieutenant) establishing God's Kingdom on earth.
This continued on through the 7th and early 8th centuries until the Abbasids, in the mid-8th century, created the figure of God’s Caliph's successor, a prophet of God named Muhammad the prophet of Islam, and so began what we now have today as modern Islam.

Odon decimates the 'Standard Islamic Narrative'!
Odon Lafontaine confronts the Standard Islamic Narrative (SIN) in this episode, demonstrating how inept it is in understanding what actually happened in the Arab world in the 7th century.
He begins by noting that the Qur'an never mentions exactly who the Arabs were, though they were in the historical record of that time, located in between the two greatest empires of the 7th century, the Byzantines and the Sassanids.
The Qur'an never refers to Arab paganism, probably because all of the Arabs were Christian at that time (the only hint being the infamous “satanic verses”).
Thus, the Standard Islamic Narrative imposes its agenda onto the Qur'an. For instance, it refers to Muhammad as the definitive prophet and his place as Mecca; yet, the Qur'an itself hardly mentions them (Muhammad is mentioned only 4 times and Mecca only once – but is it really Mecca?).
It implies that there is much vegetation and at least a fresh water sea where this prophet lives, yet if one looks at the Hijaz, neither exists, so it is referring to a place much further north.
The SIN suggests that Abraham's “house” (Temple) and the Masjid al-haram are in Mecca, but they are both in Jerusalem, 1,000 miles further north.
The SIN assumes that the Arabs were all pagans in the 7th century, while the historical record proves they were mostly Christianized beginning with the time of Pentecost in the 1st century, so that by the end of the 6th century the Arabs were all Christians.
Odon points to Al-Nu'man III who was the "king of all the Arabs of Persia and Byzantium", who in reality was the leader of the Christian Lakhmids and Ghassanides, in Jordan and Iraq.
Supporting this are many Christian inscriptions in Southern Arabia.
Odon also noted that all of the history we can find is located in the North, South and the Eastern parts of Arabia, but not the central or Western parts of the peninsula, where the SIN locates the origins of Islam.
Odon points out that the SIN states that Khadija's cousin, Waraqa ibn-Nawfal, was a (Nestorian?) Christian, which would make Khadija and the relatives of Muhammad Christians as well; yet, wouldn't that also then suggest that the in-laws of Muhammad were Christians, and this all in a place (the Hijaz) where no Christians existed?
Odon also notes that the Christians did not refer to themselves as 'Nazarenes' after the 1st century, the term the SIN gives to them, but used the title 'Masihiyun' (for the Arabs), and they were not allies of Jews as well, proving the SIN incorrect.
Sura 5, verses 51 and 82 mention that the Jews and Nazarenes (Christians?) were both friends and enemies (though many translations say only friends), which is seemingly contradictory.
To understand this you need to look at the historical record:
In 614 AD the Jews and the Persians conquered Jerusalem.
In 634 AD the propaganda tract, the Doctrina Iacobi, was written, which refers to 'A prophet from Tachkastan (southern Iraq) who was a Jewish prophet, and was a precursor to the Messiah'.
In 638 AD the Arabs conquered Jerusalem. Some “Jews” took part in it and guided them to the Temple Mount.
In 640 AD, however, the Arabs in Jerusalem expelled the Jews from there. So, this suggests that the Arabs used the Jews to first conquer Jerusalem in 638 AD, and then turned around and expelled them from Jerusalem in 640 AD.
In 661 AD Pseudo Sebeos writes about this prophet, saying that the Jews from Edessa were taught by him, whom he calls the 'Mhmt from Tachkastan'. Sebeos states that he teaches them the Jewish faith and tells them to regain Palestine.
In 670 AD John Moschus, in his "Platum Spirituelle" states that some “Jews” showed the location of the temple on Mt. Moriah to the Arabs.
Those “Jews” were the Quranic Nazarenes (Judae-Nazarenes). This explains why the Christians referred to in the Qur'an as 'Nazarenes' who were both friends and enemies of the Arab “Believers” in Surah 5:51 and 82.
So, Jerusalem plays a big role in the Apocalypse of the Arabs and the Jews of that time. Professor Guillaume Dye, pointing to the early Islamic tradition, maintains the Temple Rock is the "navel of the world", suggesting that it connected heaven and the earth, similar to the Apocalyptic vision found in Joel 3.
Odon's conclusion is that the Standard Islamic Narrative (SIN) is seriously challenged by these new historical discoveries in the 7th century, as it doesn't consider the Jewish-Nazarene influence on the origins of Islam.
Yet, we still don't know who these 7th century “Jews” were, so we now need to look into the Qur'anic term "People of the Book" (ahl al-Kitab), which will be our next episode.

NEW! Odon Lafontaine's views on Islam's Origins!
This is our first introduction to Odon Lafontaine, a Frenchman who has been researching the
origins of Islam since 2007, and has worked with the Belgian Priest and scholar Edouard-Marie Gallez (see his book 'Le Messie et son prophete', The Messiah and his prophet, and his website http://rootsofislamtruehistory.com/).
You can find out more about Odon on his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/OdonLafontaine
Or go to his website: https://thegreatsecretofislam.com/
In this first episode Odon follows Gallez's thesis that in the 7th century, as the Byzantines and the Sassanians waged war against each other, there was a common belief that the end of times was near, and that the Messiah would soon return to usher in the apocalypse and establish God’s reign.
Odon believes that a 'Qur'anic Nazarene group' (neither Jewish nor Christian, but somewhere in between, who also referred to themselves as Judaeo-Nazarenes), lived up in the north, in what is today Syria, Iraq and in Jordan, and preached a millenarian creed to some of the Arabs ('Ghassanids', 'Lakhmids', and 'Nabataeans'), in order to conquer Jerusalem, rebuild its Temple, so as to trigger a 'physical' return of Jesus who would then establish a political kingdom.
But when Jesus didn't return, subsequent Arab rulers then divorced themselves from their Jewish and Christian roots, took upon themselves the task to establish God’s kingdom without the returning Messiah, whereupon they found new power and identity in that which separated them, which in turn then led to the creation eventually of Islam in the Abbasid era (thus in the later 8th - 9th centuries).
This thesis goes completely against the Standard Islamic Narrative (SIN) which starts from the premise that Islam began within a 22-year period by one man named Muhammad in central Arabia (the Hijaz).
To support his thesis, Odon uses the Qur'an literally, and finds that when you do, many important ideas which we find in the Standard Islamic Narrative just don't exist in its pages.
For instance, the prophet Muhammad is practically non-existent, and the city of Mecca is only referred to once.
Other ideas such as the 'Kaffirun' (unbelievers by today's reasoning) are really the 'coverers', or those who cover the sacred scriptures which speak about Jesus as the Messiah.
Another oddity is the reference to 'ahl-al-Kitab' which in the Qur'an refers to both Jews and Christians (and Muslims) in the original text, but its original meaning only refered to the Jews (the people of the Scripture, the people of the Law).
In fact, according to Odon, much of the text of the Qur'an has nothing to do with Islam at all, but more to do with Jesus and the millenarian creed of the Judaeo-Nazarenes.
What's more, Odon suggests that there was a 'proto-Qur'an' in existence in the 7th century made up of many layers of meaning, put together from an amalgamation of many previous texts.
This idea is not new, as it is supported by research from the two German scholars, Luling and Luxenburg.
This Proto-Qur'anic material was created by Arabic speaking Nazarene preachers who wrote notes for their sermons, as well as stories and instructions about their sermons, written in a sort of 'short-hand' (i.e. with only the skeletal 14 letters in the Arabic alphabet).
These short-hand instructions help explain why there were no diacritical marks used in the earliest manuscripts. When copied later in the 7th and 8th centuries, the later scribes continued to transcribe the text without the diacritical marks, and it is these manuscripts which we have today.
We know diacritical marks existed in the 7th century because they can be found in Egyptian Arab texts much further north.
Thus, the eventual Qur'an was merely an amalgamation of different layers of text taken from Bible commentaries and pseudo-historical narratives, as well as Christian narratives and Nazarene sermons.
When asked about an early 7th century Muhammad, Odon suggested that this was a title for a leader of men and a precursor of the Messiah (i.e. it means 'the coveted one' as in Daniel 10:11 & 10:19). Later, men like Abd Allah Ibn al Zubayr and even abd-al-Malik used it to refer to themselves.
We have much more to learn from Odon, so stay tuned as we bring more of his research on the
origins of Islam in the 7th century.

DID MUHAMMAD EXIST? (Revised ed.) - OUT NOW!
Finally, Robert Spencer's highly anticipated newly revised edition from his masterpiece of 2012 entitled 'Did Muhammad Exist?'!
We have all been waiting for 9 years for this 2021 updated and enlarged work (it's 25% larger than his former book) which includes the newest research on the subject concerning whether there ever was the Muhammad of Islam in the 7th century.
But Robert has gone beyond what he did earlier and is also asking whether there ever was a city called Mecca, or even a Qur'an similar to what we have today in the 7th century as well.
This book should be on everyone's bookshelf, as it is foundational for understanding where we are going with the research on the Origin's of Islam.
While many well known academics have already found and therefore know much of what Robert is saying here, very few of them have been brave enough to actually go public with what they have discovered, or dared to publish it, out of fear of possibly being forced to leave their academic institutions, to say nothing of being branded 'hate preachers' or 'Islamophobes' by the Muslims and their supporters.
Robert has none of these fears, and so has done all of us a great favour by gleaning the results of their research, coalescing it into one book, and making it understandable to those of us who just don't have the time or ability to find it for ourselves.
But in order to benefit from Robert's amazing research, go out and buy the book, read it, and then comment below in the comment section.
Both Robert and I will be reading your comments and will most likely take the best ones out there and do subsequent Q&A sessions to answer those questions we deem are engaging seriously with the material he has written.
I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have...so much so that you will find a forward written by me towards the beginning of the book as well.
You can buy it on Amazon for $25.20 here: https://www.amazon.com/Did-Muhammad-E...

What? Umar may have also introduced the 1st QUR'AN?
So, not only is the 7th century Umar I referred to as Muhammad, he may have also introduced what became the Qur'an!
It does seem shocking but when you look at the epithets afforded Umar I of the 7th century, such as "ibn al-Khattab" (the Son of the Book), and "Al Farooq" (the Saviour), it stands to reason that later 8th century figures pointed to him as the one who may have introduced what then morphed into the Qur'an.
Mel points out that around 720 AD Leo III the Isaurian, debates Umar II, and in the debate remarks that the Qur'an was composed by 3 individuals: 1) Umar I, 2) Ali (Abu Turab), and 3) Salman (the Persian).
All of these are from the 7th century, which supports the Alawite tradition, and suggests that the Umar I of the 7th century had something to do with the creating of what became the Qur'an.
We also know that the material in the Qur'an was borrowed from earlier Christian Syro-Aramaic Hymns, according to research by Christoph Luxemberg, and Gunther Luling.
Even the names for this earliest book suggest it was borrowed:
1) It was first called "furqan", which means 'your salvation'.
2) Then in the 690s it was referred to as the "Book of Allah".
3) Then it was finally called the "Qur'an", which was derived from the earlier 7th century Aramaic word "Qeryana", or Bible stories.
Fay from Australia notes that the word "Farooq" means salvation, while the word "al Farooq" means the saviour, suggesting that this Umar I to whom this was directed was not only the saviour, but the "son of the Book" which means its author as well.
Isn't this 8th century material further proof that Umar I, who some called Muhammad, was also the one who introduced what later became the Qur'an?
You decide!

On Thursday, the 24th of June, Jodie Bishop and Scott Walton, representing the 'Disciples of Yahweh in Christ' YouTube group (https://www.youtube.com/c/Disciplesof...) asked me to come on their show to respond to the question concerning whether Muhammad ever existed.
I accepted and spoke for an hour concerning the problems with Islam's 'origin story', including the historical problems with Muhammad, as well as problems with the the Qur'an and with Mecca (The "book, the man, and the place").

Oops, we got the wrong Muhammad! It's Umar!
Okay, so we got Muhammad wrong at first!!! It turns out that he wasn't Ilyas ibn Qabisa from the Tayaye, but another ruler, from the same area, but much more historical, and actually more understandable once you read what those who wrote about him actually said.
We at least admit it when we get it wrong, and then correct it as well.
With the help of Joe, from Red Judaism, we now know that the 'Muhammad' from the 7th century is someone who is quite well known, and to whom quite a few people in the 7th century refer.
For instance:
1) Thomas the Presbyter, writing in 640 AD refers to 'the Muhammad of the Tayaye' who is better known as Umar, a ruler was fighting just 12 miles outside of Gaza, in 634 AD.
Later 7th century sources say that this Umar ruled in Hira (which is the city of Kufa today, in Iraq) from 634 - 644 AD.
Does this suggest the SIN has the right Umar then?
No, because they claim Umar was a Caliph, which the historical Umar wasn't, and they situate him in Medina, which is hundreds of miles further south, where he wasn't at all.
What about the 3 other supposed 'caliphs'?
Abu Bakr is nothing more than the father of the tribe named 'Bakr' in Iraq, while the Caliph Uthman we just have no real references for (which is odd if he was that famous), and Ali was an 'Amir' not the caliph of Hira, in Iraq, again too far north.
2) The Doctrina Iacobi, written in 634 AD, without naming anyone, refers to a supposed 'prophet' who is armed with a sword, who holds the "Keys to Paradise" (taken from Matthew 16:9), and is the "Christ who is yet to come"; thus suggesting that this prophet, who must have been Umar, was a Christian, though living in Iraq once again.
What's more the Doctrina was written in Aramaic, a language the Muslim SIN Muhammad wouldn't have known, as he only spoke Arabic.
3) John of Damascus, in the 730s refers to an earlier book being written at that time (note, the early 8th century) claiming that it was a "ridiculous book, sent down by a false prophet", suggesting that this Umar had begun a book which was still being compiled as late as the 730s AD, or 100 years too late!
It looks like the Umar these 3 writers were talking about, while in the right century, was the wrong man doing the wrong things, and making the wrong claims for himself...
Sound familiar?

Muhammad's in the wrong place, & wrong time! (#18)
Surah 17:1 has huge historical problems, and proves to us that the Qur'an was probably written, not in the 7th century, but sometime after 709 AD!
How do we know? Let's look at the historical facts...
Because of Surah 17:1, Muslims all believe that when Muhammad was flown on the back of the winged horse (known as the 'Buraq'), up to the 'Al Aqsa Mosque' (referred to as "the Farthest Mosque" in Surah 17:1), this mosque (or Masjid) was situated in Jerusalem, on the southern wall of the citadel which houses the 'Dome of the Rock'. This flight, they contend, happened when Muhammad was still living in Mecca, around 621 AD.
There are 3 Historical problems with these claims:
1) This could not, as some suggest, have been a temple or a church that he was flown to, as it clearly says "Masjid" (or Mosque in English) in the text.
2) Furthermore, if it were a church or a temple, there were much further churches and temples in Europe and Asia at that time. No, it is clear, that this place he was flown to was named 'Al Aqsa', and that it was indeed a mosque. Every Muslim is clear on those two points.
3) But this, then, is indeed very damaging. Why? Because if Muslims claim it was the 'Al Aqsa mosque' in Jerusalem that he flew to in 621 AD, they need to then explain how a mosque could be there so early, since the Arabs didn't even conquer Jerusalem until 638 AD! So, what was a mosque doing there 17 years earlier, in fact even before the two holy mosques were been built in Mecca and Medina?
Until 638 AD it was a Christian city, and even if there may have been some Arabs living there, no Christian authority would have ever permitted them to build a mosque on such a holy site as the 'Temple Mount'. That could only have taken place once Muslims were in power and had control of the 'Temple Mount'.
What's more, the 'Al Aqsa mosque', which today is situated on the southern wall of the citadel, wasn't built until 709 AD, and the 'Dome of the Rock' around 691 AD, therefore 70 to 80 years too late!
The solution: This is a prime example of a "historical Anachronism", of which the Qur'an has many, which suggests that this verse would have had to have been incorporated into the Qur'an sometime after 709 AD, in order for Surah 17:1 to even refer to it, supporting our notion that the Qur'an was compiled much later than what Muslims claim!
