What's goin on Tac Army!? I'm Erick Benhardtson, your host for TMTV's Headbangers Ball! One of the perks of joining the US Military is you get to see the world. My big silly Norwegian 4th Point of Contact was stationed in Germany for 9 years. During those 9 years, I’d met some of the best men America’s mothers and fathers could send to defend our nation. The summer months of Germany were amazing for us. We never spent time in the barracks, went all over Europe and other locations during a four-day weekend or a 4 for 10. What is 4 for 10 you ask? Well, take a 4-day weekend starting on a Friday and ends on a Monday. Well, what we would do is, take leave the following Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. That would take us through the weekend, and we would return for formation on Monday morning. Taking ¼ of the month off. Now, granted, if one of us was on the duty roster, we’d be the one stuck back while the others were out on vacation. No free ride exists in the Army! Using this formula though, we were able to see some great bands during Summer Festival Season all over Europe and other countries we'd use the Military Airlift Command to fly to. I will always love you, Iceland! We went to so many festivals! Reading, Dynamo, Rock-im-Park, Rock-am-Ring, Berlin Deathfest, Munchen (Munich) Metalfest, Kings of Metal, Monsters of Rock just to name a few. Great memories! With my BrothersfromotherMothers. Life in my 20s was great. We know as GenX veterans that soldiers after us discovered the same diamond about taking leave in the Military. We know you, and our civilian counterparts love rock and metal. What festivals did you attend during the Summer Festival Season. Here in the states, we’re afforded so many great bands booked on them. As he rapidly ran out of options, Noriega took refuge at the Vatican Embassy in Panama City. In deference to diplomatic protocol, U.S. forces did not enter the embassy. But they did concoct a plan to smoke out Noriega with music, mostly heavy metal and rock, with a few ballads thrown in. It was blasted on loudspeakers, at deafening volumes, around the clock. Leaving us with other shows that just weren't The Ball. It's time for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to think about redesignation when it comes to the name of the venue. In 1951, Cleveland, Ohio, disc jockey Alan Freed began playing this music style, and referring to it as "rock and roll" on his mainstream radio program, which popularized the phrase. Since the 1950s, Rock and Roll has evolved. From its roots in Blues, the genre has evolved from “pop music” into a family tree of that is enormous and would reach the International Space Station if you tried to put it into physical form. Yet, in the last 45 years, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has downright told 100s of bands and performers to go fuck themselves who should have been 1st round draft picks the year they’d become eligible. Well, we’ve put together a show that will highlight two artists who were inducted with their bands and were snubbed as solo artists, three bands who’ve been inducted, and 12 bands that The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame told to go fuck themselves. We have a fan request, and we have a dedication. (Paying Homage to Kasey Kasem’s American Top 40) Who decides who goes into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Rock & Roll Hall of Fame CEO Greg Harris and merry band of posers who think it was wise to wait 35 years to induct Rush. What a great idea that was! 35 Years? What a group of douche canoes! What really pisses me off is that the bands on this list are all 1st Round Draft Picks. Now? The bands on this show have members who’ve passed away, family members that passed away, bandmates who hate each other and want nothing to do with each other, yet the bands on this show, meet every prerequisite to be inducted. Yet, in recent years, artists that invented new genres, performers who aren’t even rock and roll, they don’t even fall under the moniker of “Rock and Roll”, the swing message to the rebellious youth of the 1950s and to today who see it being “The sound of a generation”. Well…with the way the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame went full Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion aka WOKE in 2023, I’m sure we’ll see in follow on years that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should be one that any form of music that falls under the Heavy Metal Genre and its Sub Genres should tell the Hall of Fame to get fucked. Conclusion: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is not a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It’s a museum. It’s not a hall of fame. Sports has a Hall of Fame. You don’t see Hockey Players in the NFL Hall of Fame. You don’t see Hurling's Best in the Rugby or Soccer Hall of Fame. You don’t see future NFL Hall of Famer aka the GOAT, Tom Brady being inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame…you see where I’m going with this? The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame needs to be redesignated as, “The International Excellence in Music Museum”. The hopes for bands that wanted to make it into the RRHoF was something that began in Garages. Thank God that Heavy Metal has it’s own Metal Hall of Fame, which is something I can respect a lot more than tea sippin, pot smokin, hash sniffin hipsters who think they have the power and the right to say who is the best bands and artists on the planet when in the past 70 years, they’ve gotten it all wrong. "Plush" is a song by American rock band Stone Temple Pilots. It was released as the second single from the band's 1992 debut studio album, Core, in 1993 and became their first single to top the Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart. The most widely broadcast version of this song is an acoustic rendition that starts with Scott Weiland saying, "This is a song called 'Plush.'" Thanks to "Sex Type Thing," the group was invited on the MTV metal show Headbangers Ball for an interview. Guitarist Dean DeLeo suggested that he bring his acoustic guitar so they could perform this song on the show, and the network agreed. The show was recorded on December 5, 1992 after the band had finished a month of concerts opening for Rage Against the Machine. They took a plane to New York and ingested some pills to help them sleep. When they got to their hotel, DeLeo and Weiland both got sick, but they made it to the MTV Studios for the 6 a.m. taping, as Weiland recalled, "high as zombies." In this altered state, DeLeo and Weiland performed the song, delivering a far more relaxed and poignant version than is heard on the album. This version also turned out to be quite radio-friendly, and lots of stations started playing it. This version made #39 on the US Airplay chart on August 14, 1993 and stirred a great deal of interest in the band, although listeners who bought the Core album expecting similarly mellow fare were in for an unpleasant surprise.
