Millions of Fishflies Swarm in the Sky
Fishfly season June 2016, Chesterfield Michigan. Millions of these insects swarm in the sky in a mating frenzy.
These smelly little bugs are called Mayflies or Fishflies. They ascend to the skies from Lake St. Clair to live for only one day, just enough time to mate and lay their eggs. They tend to cover anything and every thing in their paths with their squiggly little bodies.

Hand feeding a Swan in my backyard
My voice is shaky with the thrill of hand feeding this beautiful animal. The Swans come back every year and they are friendly enough to take the crackers right out of your hand.
After taking this video I did a little research on what Swans can safely eat and found that crackers, bread and chips can be harmful towards them. While they seem to adore the treats its better to avoid feeding them human food at all. That can be hard when they often come down the canals to visit us and our neighbors during the spring and summer months. So now I try to stay stocked with items they can eat like corn, fresh peas, shredded lettuce, and chopped up broccoli.
