Nigeria Flooding
Recent flooding in Nigeria has become an "overwhelming" disaster, and many states were not properly prepared for them despite warnings, the minister for disaster management has said.
More than 600 people have died in the worst flooding the West African nation has seen in a decade.
Some 1.3 million people have been displaced, and more than 200,000 homes have been destroyed.

Describing the incident as an “assassination attempt”, he expressed sadness over those that were killed, but said the gunmen will “reap the seed they sow”.
He also also alluded to “certain things” happening since 2017, which appeared to be a reference to the various sex scandals involving him.
“Since 2017, there are certain things that have been happening that I have been quiet about. Even if you’re the most careless person on earth, you will not give yourself to so much scandals. There are things people don’t know, even though one or two people, along the line, took advantage of that to just come out and say one or two things,” he said.

“But the reason I’m coming out to speak now is because they’ve done all that and discovered that I’m still moving on. They’ve decided to make attempt on my life.
“I just escaped an assassination attempt where seven people were killed. My car was attacked — [they] opened fire on my car, and kept spraying it with bullets. My wife and my kids were there. The escort car, with some police, they killed the policeman, they killed the other people in the other escort car and the buses with us. Seven people — we were all moving in a convoy — were killed.
“People who did this are expecting me to come out, mention their names, so that they will come out and deny. I won’t do that. But the truth of the matter is this: you can’t kill me. My life is in the hand of God. I am a man of God.
“And those who are among those that are attacking me, you are building on what you don’t understand. You may have joined the fora because you want to chase clout, but you don’t know where the fight started from. There are things you don’t understand; you don’t have an idea of the beginning of what happened in 2017 — the people who are behind it. You may come and you are doing your own thing, but it is beyond what you are thinking.

THE GREEN OF IT ALL: 5 INDEPENDENCE DAY STYLE TIPS
Drum roll, because it’s that time of the year again. And yes, we are referring to our beloved country, Nigeria’s Independence Day. While the day is widely known for celebrating the years since we gained freedom from colonial masters (62 to be precise), it’s also an opportunity for you to worry less about what colour of the top, trousers, or gown to wear to an event on that day.
It’s no secret that green is the go-to choice when selecting what to wear to either a seminar about the history of Nigeria or an Afrobeats music festival. However, we can all pretty much agree that wearing green on October 1st is becoming a cliche.
