God's salvation is for those who do not deserve it and have made no preparation for it. "There is none righteous, not one." It is true that Jesus seeks out and saves the lost. He died and made a real ransom for real sinners. The inn of mercy never closes its doors to such people, not on weekdays or on Sundays. Our Lord Jesus did not die for imaginary offences, but His heart's blood was spilled to wash away deep crimson stains that nothing else could remove.

What's the point of a Savior if you're not lost? Should the shepherd pursue those who have never gone astray? Only medicine is for the sick, only life is for the dead, only forgiveness is for the guilty, only freedom is for the imprisoned, and only sight is for the blind. How can the Savior, His death on the cross, and the gospel of pardon be explained unless men are guilty and deserve to be condemned? If you believe you are unworthy, undeserving, and deserving of hell, you are the type of man for whom the Gospel has been ordained, arranged, and proclaimed.

This message is for you, to him that works not, but believes on him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Now, while this is very surprising, I want you to notice how available it makes the gospel to you and to me. If God justifies the ungodly, then, dear friend, He can justify you. Is not that the very kind of person that you are? If you are unconverted at this moment, it is a very proper description of you; you have lived without God, you have been the reverse of godly; in one word, you have been and are ungodly
