The Secret Lives of Bees I Part 3 – BIRTH OF A BEE & HARVESTING HONEY
In this video, Part 3 in our series The Secret Life of Bees, we will witness a baby honey bee being born, and our good friends Aaron and David are back to walk us through the process of harvesting honey.
Firstly, opinions vary about how long honey bees have been around on the planet: some sources state about 40 million years, others claim there are fossilized remains of honey bees dating back 150 million years.
What we can agree on is that harvesting Honey is as old as history is itself. The earliest evidence of honey harvesting is on a rock painting dating back 8000 years. It depicts a human robbing the wild honey from a tree using smoke to subdue the bees.
Honey has been found in ancient Egyptian tombs dating back 5000 years, the honey was still good to eat.

The Secret Lives of Bees- Part 1 Capturing a Swarm
NOTE: In the video where I talk about the drones, I mistakenly say there are "eight to nine drones per hive," I meant to say, "eight to nine hundred drones per hive."
In this series of educational videos on the honey bee, the whole family can learn about the fascinating life of the honey bee and the responsibilities of the beekeeper. You will also learn about the link between our food chain and honey bees and how we are all interconnected.

Storyman's World of Discovery
WELCOME. The world is changing. It is being challenged more now than at any other time in history. And it’s being challenged by humankind.
We owe it to the planet and each other to do all we can to take care of this Earth.
First of all, this is our home. It shelters us and takes care of us—it makes us possible.
Secondly, we do not have the right to jeopardize another person’s quality of life. We at least owe it to each other to not destroy this amazing place we call Earth, our home.
This channel is about raising awareness of the endangered ecosystems that are found around the world. We explore the science of climate change, what we know, and, more importantly, what we don’t know. To understand climate change better, we need to understand better how the Earth works.
For example, we can ask questions: how do we take care of wildlife in a changing climate? How do we not make it worse? How do we take care of each other? Maybe if we answer just one of those questions, the others will get answered too.
The world is an amazing place; our lives are a gift.
We hope you come along with us for the adventure of discovery.
