This video will show you an easy way to install a security camera on a vinyl soffit. If you have ever tried to hang a camera or anything from the vinyl soffit, you will know that it is a challenge. This quick little tip works so great that I will be doing this for everyone I put up from now on. It is rock solid and the security camera isn't going anywhere. I wish I could take credit for this idea but I found it from a quick search on another video on YouTube. Here is the link from where I got the idea https://youtu.be/UjWkB0UZM1M. Originally I installed mine by cutting a hole and installing a cut-in drywall ring. Then mount the bracket to a wall plate and screw that to the drywall ring. It worked ok but nad I never had one fall, it just wasn't sturdy like this method. This is less intrusive as you only drill a little hole for the wire to pass through. Works great and is very sturdy. How To Tell When A Persimmon Is Ripe Once Autumn is approaching, there are certain fruits that start to ripen that we associate with fall. Apples and Pears are two of the ones of the most common. Here in the South, there are two more that we look for, Muscadine grapes and Persimmons. In this post, we are going to cover Persimmons but more specifically how to tell if a Persimmon is ripe. What Is a Persimmon Tree? There are many varieties of Persimmon trees but the one we are focusing on is the American Persimmon tree which is native to the Southern United States. This tree is also called a common persimmon and the scientific name is diospyros virginiana. These trees are grown in other parts of the US and the world, but they are naturally native to the Southeast. The American Persimmon tree can grow upwards of sixty feet tall. The wood itself is used in furniture and at one time was what golf driver heads were made from before they switched to metal heads. Coffee grounds make a excellent nitrogen source for your compost pile. I mixed my with leaves that are partially decomposed, as well as comfrey, kitchen scrapes, etc. When I can find a steady source of nitrogen, year round, I get as excited as Zeb Ross dancing a jig at the CMA awards! All it takes is to ask around a few coffee shops, small grocery stores, etc to find you a steady source of components to make compost. Then you will have life changing ingredients to benefit your soil. This makes living soil better. If you would like to see a full video on how I make my compost, leave me a comment below. I had what I think is a great idea, to add one of those pop-up blinds to use as a top and blind for my tripod stand. I am not sure if this will work or not, but if it will, I think it will be a genius idea. It is a cheap way to add a cover and a waterproof top to a tripod. This blind was bought at an auction for next to nothing. Not only will it block the wind and rain off, but it will also provide cover as well. Fingers crossed it works.

How Are the Bald Cypress Trees doing? A viewer requested an update. Today we are going to look at the Bald Cypress trees that we got from a friend, Matt Dean, at Dean Family Acres. We received these trees back at the At a YouTuber meetup at Roots And Refuge Farm in SC back meet-up back in May of 2022. At that time we potted them up so we could wait until the dormant season. We are patiently waiting on Late fall/early Winter so we can plant these bad boys up in the swamp or the banks of the creek. I may also plant one in the yard as they are very beautiful trees. Follow along as we head to the foothills of the Blueridge Mountains of South Carolina. We took an overnight trip to Travelers Rest, SC to check out an epic restaurant tucked away on a golf course with crazy views of the mountains. We were invited to come to check out Core450 Restaurant in Travelers Rest, SC. If you are not familiar with this area, it is in the North Greenville Area of SC. Located in the beautiful foothills of the South Carolina Blueridge mountains. The Restaurant sits on a beautiful award-winning golf course that is just a half mile past North Greenville University. What makes Core450 so unique is the setting. As I mentioned, it is sitting on a golf course but not only that, but it is also in a community with nice houses around it. They have a cottage section where you can rent a cottage, come play golf for the day on the beautiful course, and then eat a meal that night at Core450. All of this at a very reasonable price too. Quick and Easy Instant Pot Boiled Peanuts is a quick recipe to make the traditional southern salty snack. What used to take many hours to make, boiling them in a pot, now can be made in a fraction of the time. You can have an even better-boiled peanut by leveraging the power of a pressure cooker in under an hour and a half. Boiled peanuts originated in South Carolina so if you are ever in the state and wondering what to eat in South Carolina, boiled peanuts are it. Boiled peanuts are actually the South Carolina State Snack food and are one of South Carolinas best eats! Boiled peanuts are a super popular snack that is enjoyed by many southerners. You can usually find them at roadside stands, many convenience stores or gas stations, or even the local grocery store. The traditional way to make them consists of boiling them in a big pot with salted water for many hours. This process takes green peanuts and turns them into a briny soft snack that is simply delicious. The salty water is what gives them that great flavor that you crave. They are a such delicious snack. Boiled peanuts are enjoyed year-round, but their popularity increases as summer fades into fall. As the south turns its eyes to football season, this snack really rares its salty head on each game day. They are a true southern delicacy. If you do not have an instant pot, you are missing out. You could also use a traditional pressure cooker. Trivet Pyrex Dish INGREDIENTS 1 pound of green peanuts 1/4 cup salt sea salt or kosher 6-8 cups of cold water use filtered or distilled INSTRUCTIONS Preparing The Peanuts Before making the peanuts you will want to wash them a few times. Peanuts are similar to potatoes in that they are tubers that grow underground. They may have dirt on them. I like to fill up my sink, then add the peanuts and wash them around. Drain the water, then do that a few more times. This ensures you get all the dirt off them. Washed peanuts will result in the possible product. Cooking The Peanuts Step 1 Combine the peanuts, water, and salt in the pressure cooker. Step 2 Stir until the salt has dissolved. Step 3 Add the trivet on top and place a pyrex dish or bowl on top of the trivet. Step 4 Put the pressure cooker lid on and turn it to lock. Close the pressure relief valve to the sealing position. Step 5 Use the manual setting on the instant pot and set it to 80 mins. Step 6 Once the time has run out, allow the instant pot pressure to do a natural pressure release (NAP), basically letting the instant pot do a natural release. At this point, you simply do not do anything. This will take 20 to 30 minutes to take place. Once the pressure indicator has fallen, it will be ready to open and enjoy. Today I am sharing an exciting story of how I got my latest Pawpaw tree from West Virginia. As you may know, I have a few Pawpaw trees that are in my orchard and in my tree nursery. One of the trees I got from my area from my friend's property in the wild. The other Pawpaw tree I raised from seed. The PawPaw tree has gained a lot of popularity in recent months. The fruit is the official fruit of the state of Ohio and is said to taste like a cross between a mango and a banana. It has a creamy, custard-like texture.
