Hood Dent Removal | Paintless Dent Repair | 2016 Chevy Suburban | Sioux Falls Dent Repair
Today, Jack from Sioux Falls Dent Repair will be taking on a dented hood on a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban.
Now, the owner of this vehicle actually purchased the car with the dent in it and decided to approach us for Paintless Dent Repair as it would turn out to be a lot more affordable when compared to taking a car to a traditional body shop.
With the use of our special magnetic half dollar size coin, we can estimate the damage size and give the customer our pricing for the repair. The dent, as you can see, is bigger than the coin itself and so we price it accordingly. In order to gain access to the damaged area, we had to lift the hood and remove the insulator pad on the underside of the hood. There were a total of six clips that had to come out so that we could find a way to get our tools in and push the damage out.
As it turned out, the dent was located under a brace in the frame which makes fitting our regular tools a lot more difficult – and sometimes impossible. Luckily, in this case, we were able to get our brace styled tools under the brace and push out the damage. When the specially designed brace tools do not work, the next best thing is the glue pulling method for getting out any type of damage.
Since the dent on this car was rather large, we decided to first use the glue pulling method to get rid of the majority of the damage from the outside. Once the bulk of the damage was removed with the pull tabs, we were able to get under the hood and take a closer look at the finer details of the repair. You can probably see that we are using a couple of PDR lights for this repair and the reason for this is so that we can get all the right angles of the damage and successfully push it all out without having to constantly move the light around.
In the end, getting rid of a dent like this takes more than just a couple of pull tabs and a few pushed from underneath the metal. Often, we use hundreds of small repetitive pushes to get out a dent completely. Lastly, we polish and buff the damaged area to get it back to its original state – or at least close to it.

Auto Hail Damage in 2021 - Paintless Dent Removal - Sioux Falls Dent Repair
Hail Damage Repair 2021
In today’s episode, Jack is going live on Instagram and is working on a 2015 Toyota Tundra pick-up truck that came in from a body shop. The reason why the car was taken to a body shop was that it was keyed on the side and the owner was looking to have it repainted.
However, while the technicians were preparing the car for the painting process, they found a few dings and dents but it was only after washing the vehicle did they realize that there was severe hail damage on the car. Under the PDR lights, Jack shows us the extent of the damage and while the dents are mostly tiny, they are a lot of them. From the roof rail to the actual roof, the car was covered with dents but the body shop was more interested in getting the dents out from the panels that they were going to fix.
So, Jack explains that he will be working on the entire right hand side of the vehicle, especially on the roof rail. If you have any kind of hail damage or dents that need to be removed, feel free to contact us through call or text at 605-250-1023. Toyota Tundra Tail Light Removal Tip - Sioux Falls, SD - Sioux Falls Dent Repair
Toyota Tundra Tail Light Removal Tip
Today, Jack introduces us to the very first “Tool-Tech Tip Tuesday” episode and will take us through the steps of removing a tail light from a 2015 Toyota Tundra pick-up truck. There is a twist though, as Jack will not be using a traditional tool used for light uninstallations. Instead, he is using a window wedge from Stuckey Tools that creates a gap in the window channel – but it works, so why not?
Once the tailgate assembly is lowered, Jack shows us that two torx screws hold the tail light in place. Once those are out, Jack explains that there are a couple of guide pins that actually require the light to be pushed out sideways rather than pulled out from the back (as seen on older models).
This is where the window wedge tool comes in. Because the tool is made from plastic, there are no worries about scratching the paint or damaging the metal while removing the light. As you can see, Jack simply pushes the wedge tool into the seam of the light and it pops out easily.
If you have any damage and want us to take a look at it, reach out to us on 605-250-1023 or leave your questions in the comments section below and we will be happy to get back to you. You can also visit www.SiouxFallsDentRepair.com to learn more about our PDR business.

Ford Dent Removal - Using Paintless Dent Repair in Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Today we are removing some damage in a 2018 Ford Edge. This damage is in the right rear door and is very extreme damage. The damage is on a body line and very deep and has a bunch of displaced metal all around the area. In order to remove this damage we had to use a heat gun and apply a constant 160-180 degrees when pushing out the last little bit of this damage.

Full Glue Pull Demonstration for Paintless Dent Repair and Dent Removal - 2018 Ford F150 Door Dent
Full Glue Pull Demonstration for Paintless Dent Repair and Dent Removal
Today, we’re going to demonstrate how glue pulling really works and we have a door ding on a 2018 Ford F-150 to take care of. The body of the truck is made from aluminum and we’re going to take a look at how it differs from a regular steel body vehicle. We will also get into why glue pulling is considered for the repair rather than pushing on the metal from the inside.
The dent itself is not too severe and that is why Jack chose to do the repair live. As you can see, the dent is close to the door handle and with the PDR light, we can see that it isn’t too deep either. The special PDR light allows us to see dent clearly as we as any damage that might show up around it. Along with an aluminum body, the truck also has laminated safety glass which makes it difficult to use the traditional method of lowering the window and going in through the window channel.
Why does the type of glass make a difference? Well, there are basically two types of glass that are used in cars – tempered and laminated. The difference between the two is that laminated glass cracks and tempered glass shatters when damaged. Laminated glass is made from two different pieces of glass that are joined together with a film that keeps the glass together rather than breaking into pieces. Laminated glass can easily crack when pressure is applied to the edges which are why glue-pulling is the preferred method for PDR.
As you already know, at Sioux Falls Dent Repair, we use all types of glue-pulling tabs from all the best brands such as KECO, Edgy Tools, Robo Tabs, and Black Plaque PDR. They all bring their own benefits to the table and we always have them at hand for any type of repair.
Getting back to the dent, Jack starts things off with the Edgy Tools glue tabs because they don’t have the strongest grip on the metal and this kind of dent requires small pulls rather than large ones. After applying the glue, Jack gets two pulls on the tab and the glue stays on the car. This allows for a softer pull because the dent is not excessively large. With the first two pulls, we can see a little progress but we all know that PDR takes time and patience.
The next tab being used is the Root Beer from Anson PDR. With this tab, Jack is using a Robo Mini Lifter from KECO which takes the tab off with a loud “pop”. Once the tab is off, we can see that there was a little bit of an overpull which was expected with the type of tab and tool combination. Under the PDR lights, we can see the high spot on the dent and Jack has to now push the metal back down. For this, Jack chooses the KECO Root Beer Knockdown tool and the Shane Jacks Blending Hammer with Edgy Tools tips. With just a couple of minutes of knockdown work, we can see how Jack has almost taken out all the damage. There are only a few spots left that will be taken out by wet sanding and polishing the area. Jack completes the repair with a couple of small pull tabs and a few more seconds of hammering. After a little bit of polishing, Jack is happy with the result and is ready to move on to another dent on the other side of the vehicle.
