Woke up to a surprise a couple days ago, last I heard these two were still in Rock Mount, NC but Surprise! They were passing through Ashland, VA as I was getting up. Glad I caught this lash up, CSX is awesome for this one!

Caught the Conrail unit a couple weeks ago leading but at night. Heard it was a Mid DPU on NB M410 so I decided to catch it again but this time in the morning sun, couple other trains came as well. Enjoy!

Finally caught my favorite heritage unit! Even though it was almost midnight and pitch black out (no where near me had adequate lighting), the timing was perfect as I had just left work maybe 15 minutes before 28R arrived. I’m just glad I finally got to see it in person as it has passed my shop 4-5 times prior. -No my high beams are not on, those are my low beams as to not blind the crew.

I guess a plus to working nights is I’m still awake when these special units come through. All trains in this video were caught on 5/25/24 starting at 1:40am - 3:00am ish and back out at 8:30pm - 9:05pm ish. Awesome seeing 1776 on Memorial Day weekend! CSX Pere Marquette 1899 and CSX L&N 1850 also came through hours before the Conrail unit but I wasn’t off work yet to catch them but I’ll take two outa four! Woke up to the L&N Heritage #1850 coming back North and ended up almost being a full day of Train Spotting with 3415 finishing off my day. Cool Amtrak Dash 8 #508 dead in tow on the SB AutoTrain and some interesting rail cars/new looking cars and of course come Amtrak chargers. Met some cool people, and some familiar faces showed up as well. All in all a great turn out!

After a rainy Saturday, I headed out Sunday morning to catch some trains. Caught couple goodies, a CSX CM44AC (a rebuilt AC4400CW) and a brand new Amtrak ALC-42 Charger #350 preforming its first revenue run south. #amtrak #charger #csx #railroad

Nothing to special today, just decided to go out before work for a little. I’m in my usual spot but Decided to explore a little and found this not far at all from where i’m usually at. Caught a few trains this morning. M415 being the first to show was a little different as he came to a full stop to receive authority through limited approach signal which leads to some nice slack action (I was fully awake after that!). Caught Amtrak P42 160 again (Dash 8 paint scheme) and then ending off with a nice shot of Amtrak 88 through the crossing and over the bridge near Leesylvania State Park.

Luckily X410-06 left Acca yard in Richmond later than expected (was suppose to be early morning departure) but literally came through minutes before I had to leave for work still glad I was able to catch the ACL Unit, caught a couple other trains while out. Enjoy!

Didn’t plan on railfanning today as it had been raining/drizzling all day but heard 3194 was coming up the RF&P Sub so naturally I made an effort to catch this unit. After waiting almost all day (train got stuck in Richmond switching Acca yard) it finally came though. Caught a couple other trains along with an Amtrak Charger.

Decided to go out and railfan the CSX RF&P Sub today in a new spot (Cherry Hill road crossing) and boy i’m glad I did! Caught 15 trains total (didn’t film them all) Couple long CSX freights and a lot of Amtrak goodies for one day. All recorded on 4/21/24 Hope you enjoy the video as much I did filming it! Got a new scanner in today and decided to test it out after the rain died down. Caught four trains within a two hour period which is not bad, traffic seemed to die off after the fourth so I decide it was time to head home. Didn’t catch the train symbols but looks like two CSX manifest freights, one CSX intermodal and an Amtrak Northeast Regional. Thanks for watching!
