Now, researchers reporting in ACS Central Science have immunized mice with nanoparticles that mimic SARS-CoV-2 by displaying multiple copies of the receptor binding domain (RBD) antigen, showing that the vaccine triggers robust antibody and T cell responses. Although the first vaccines to receive Emergency Use Authorization by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration were based on mRNA, more conventional protein-based vaccines have also shown promise in clinical trials. Most train the immune system to recognize the RBD, a peptide that is the portion of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein that binds to the ACE-2 receptor on host cell surfaces. However, not all of these vaccines elicit both antibody and T cell responses, both of which are thought to be important for longer-lasting immunity. Melody Swartz, Jeffrey Hubbell and colleagues had previously developed a vaccine delivery tool called polymersomes –– self-assembling, spherical nanoparticles that can encapsulate antigens and adjuvants (helper molecules that boost the immune response) and then release them inside immune cells. Polymersomes trigger robust T cell immunity, and the researchers wondered if they could further improve the antibody response by engineering the nanoparticles to mimic viruses by displaying multiple copies of the RBD on their surfaces. So the team made polymersomes that were similar in size to SARS-CoV-2 and decorated them with many RBDs. After characterizing the nanoparticles in vitro, they injected them into mice, along with separate polymersomes containing an adjuvant, in two doses that were three weeks apart. For comparison, they immunized another group of mice with polymersomes that encapsulated the RBD, along with the nanoparticles containing the adjuvant. Although both groups of mice produced high levels of RBD-specific antibodies, only the surface-decorated polymersomes generated neutralizing antibodies that prevented SARS-CoV-2 infection in cells. Both the surface-decorated and encapsulated RBDs triggered robust T cell responses. Although the new vaccine still needs to be tested for safety and efficacy in humans, it could have advantages over mRNA vaccines with regard to widespread distribution in resource-limited areas, the researchers say. That’s because the surface-decorated polymersomes are stable and active for at least 6 months with refrigeration, in contrast to mRNA vaccines that require subzero temperature storage. Stories of violent abuse against children tend to conjure up rage for many of us as we struggle to understand the complexities involved that drive, someone, to commit violent acts against a helpless child. Whether it is neglectful parenting that may lead to death or serious injury, or it is a willful attempt to batter, child abuse could be one of the nation’s biggest stigmas. As disturbing as these incidents are there is another form of abuse we are familiar with that is likely to do nothing less than leave a gaping hole in the hearts of those who experience any aspect of it, child sexual abuse. This can range from all-out sexual intercourse with a child, to fondling, making sexual comments, or exposing them to explicit sexual acts such as making them watch pornography. The thoughts of children having to experience this type of abuse whether it is from a relative or a stranger are appalling to most of us and are likely to have our stomachs twisting in knots. Unfortunately, there is not an easy explanation for child sexual abuse and there are even those who advocate for the right to freely engage in sexual activity with children. These groups believe that age of consent laws should be repealed and that young boys should be free to engage in sex with men because it is somehow beneficial to them. They are attempting to normalize the issue of pedophilia in much the same way homosexual marriage was normalized. Through incremental efforts to gain acceptance through public opinion and using the education system to push it on our children. Gerald Hannon [1] is an individual heavily involved in turning the issue of “age of consent” into a human rights struggle and has expressed some interesting ideas of how to bring the issue to children in public schools. In fact, Hannon can be quoted as saying that there are not enough children involved in the homosexual movement, and attracting young people to it should be the movement’s next big challenge. “At present, we do not have organizations that are chock-a-block full of young people…To attract young people to the gay movement in large numbers should be the challenge to the next phase of the movement. Once again, a person genuinely concluding that they are gay is different than being pushed into exploring the possibility. Many activists argue that bringing awareness of homosexuality to our schools is necessary to alleviate the discrimination faced by homosexual students. One of Hannon’s ideas is to discredit the family and suggest that parents of children who are questioning their sexuality are nothing but a nuisance, old people trying to push their outdated values. He goes onto say that children’s notions of heterosexuality, which they must obey at home, should be presented as otherworldly or out of place and that adult mentors should guide young children into the belief that the traditional morality of their parents is wrong, and should be rejected. What VAERS Really Tells Us About Coronavirus Shots And Blood Clots If you want to find “evidence” that the COVID-19 vaccines are deadly, you don't have to look very hard. New blog posts, videos, news stories, and social media posts hit Google every day, and they all follow the same formula. Here's a typical example from Twitter: Weekly update of the RARE serious vaccine adverse events reported to US VAERS. Up 10% overall (+10k), +5k hospitalised (41k total), +1.6k permanently disabled (13k total), +500 deaths (12k total). Don't worry though, these vaccines are SAFE and all events are reported. VAERS stands for the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, and it is beloved by folks like Joel Smalley who, for whatever reason, find value in scaring people away from generally safe, effective shots. This is amusing because the VAERS database has for many years helped public health agencies perform post-marketing surveillance to ensure that licensed vaccines are safe. As I wrote in a June story: The irony in all this is that VAERS actually underscores just how safe FDA-approved vaccines are. And when used as intended, the system helps regulators update vaccine labels, restrict who should get certain shots, and, rarely, modify a vaccine or remove it from the market. In other words, VAERS mitigates the risk of vaccine injury. VAERS during the pandemic So, how has VAERS performed during the pandemic? Despite allegations that the COVID shots have caused an unprecedented number of adverse events, published studies that verify reports to the federal database show that the vaccines are safe for most people, and when side effects are reported, they are generally mild and easily treated, if they require treatment at all. We'll look at reports related to blood-clotting disorders in this story. In the next article, we'll examine some other widely reported side effects. Keep in mind as we go that the peer-reviewed evidence always lags behind VAERS reports by two months or so because scientists have to evaluate cases submitted to the database. Vaccine skeptics will continue to point to more recent adverse events until they are investigated. That isn't a point in their favor; it just means that doing good science takes time. Vaccines and blood-clotting disorders Shortly after the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines were authorized in late 2020, reports of Thrombocytopenia (low blood platelet count) began to trickle into VAERS, and the media amplified individual cases. Here's a February report from Fox News, for example: The condition was rarely reported in clinical trials for both vaccines (in the experimental and control groups), so it's not implausible that it might be linked to immunization in the real world. What did the FDA find when it investigated these cases? According to a June study: Fifteen cases of thrombocytopenia were identified among 18,841,309 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine and 13 cases among 16,260,102 doses of Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine. The reporting rate of thrombocytopenia was 0.80 per million doses for both vaccines. Based on an annual incidence rate of 3.3 ITP [immune thrombocytopenia] cases per 100,000 adults, the observed number of all thrombocytopenia cases, which includes ITP, following administration of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines is not greater than the number of ITP cases expected. Not only were these cases extremely rare, but the researchers weren't able to determine the mechanism by which immunization could cause thrombocytopenia because “an immune-mediated mechanism would be expected to have a longer onset interval than observed in most cases in this series ...” This doesn't mean the mRNA vaccines can't cause ITP; indeed other researchers have speculated that they could. Crucially, though, SARS-COV-2 infection is much more likely than immunization to cause thrombocytopenia. Our own Dr. Chuck Dinerstein wrote a helpful primer on the relationship between COVID-19 and blood clotting disorders I encourage everyone to read: Why Are COVID-19 Patients Dying From Blood Clots? On a related note, both the Pfizer-BioNTech and AstraZeneca shots pose a similarly low risk of thrombocytopenia and several related blood-clotting disorders, according to a June study of 1,372,213 vaccinated individuals in Europe. “In summary,” the researchers wrote, “in this study of over a million people vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 in Catalonia, Spain, the BNT162b2 [Pfizer] and ChAdOx1 [AstraZeneca] vaccines have been seen to have similar safety profiles.” They added: Safety signals for both venous thromboembolic events and thrombocytopenia following BNT162b2 vaccination have been identified, with their magnitude similar to these same events among people vaccinated with ChAdOx1. These safety signals must be interpreted with caution with further investigation required to confirm causality. Regardless of the vaccine used, the increase in rates of thrombosis among persons with COVID-19 is far higher than those seen among persons vaccinated [emphasis mine]. Similar results have been reported for J&J's shot, an adenoviral vector vaccine similar to AstraZeneca's. A May 2021 study found that 7.98 million doses of the vaccine generated 13,725 VAERS reports, of which “97% were classified as nonserious and 3% as serious,” including three reports in women of thrombosis accompanied by thrombocytopenia during the second week after vaccination. Ask questions and seek answers Before we move on to part two, there are a few points worth stressing here in conclusion. The media has vacillated between downplaying the efficacy of COVID vaccines and chastising Americans for refusing to get immunized. Giving this conflicting information, the public is asking reasonable questions about serious side effects linked to the shots. Fortunately, severe adverse events appear to be quite rare and may not even be related to the vaccines themselves. It's important to remember that we know all this because scientists around the world are actively investigating these cases and reporting the results in generally open-access venues. You don't have to take statements from public health agencies, pharmaceutical companies, and reporters at face value. The data they rely on are out there on Google for all of us to see. If the COVID vaccines were actually injuring or killing people left and right, there'd be no way to hide it.

The antiparasitic ivermectin, with antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties, has now been tested in numerous clinical trials. Areas of uncertainty: We assessed the efficacy of ivermectin treatment in reducing mortality, in secondary outcomes, and in chemoprophylaxis, among people with, or at high risk of, COVID-19 infection. Data sources: We searched bibliographic databases up to April 25, 2021. Two review authors sifted for studies, extracted data, and assessed risk of bias. Meta-analyses were conducted and certainty of the evidence was assessed using the GRADE approach and additionally in trial sequential analyses for mortality. Twenty-four randomized controlled trials involving 3406 participants met review inclusion. Therapeutic Advances: Meta-analysis of 15 trials found that ivermectin reduced risk of death compared with no ivermectin (average risk ratio 0.38, 95% confidence interval 0.19–0.73; n = 2438; I2 = 49%; moderate-certainty evidence). This result was confirmed in a trial sequential analysis using the same DerSimonian–Laird method that underpinned the unadjusted analysis. This was also robust against a trial sequential analysis using the Biggerstaff–Tweedie method. Low-certainty evidence found that ivermectin prophylaxis reduced COVID-19 infection by an average 86% (95% confidence interval 79%–91%). Secondary outcomes provided less certain evidence. Low-certainty evidence suggested that there may be no benefit with ivermectin for “need for mechanical ventilation,” whereas effect estimates for “improvement” and “deterioration” clearly favored ivermectin use. Severe adverse events were rare among treatment trials and evidence of no difference was assessed as low certainty. Evidence on other secondary outcomes was very low certainty. Conclusions: Moderate-certainty evidence finds that large reductions in COVID-19 deaths are possible using ivermectin. Using ivermectin early in the clinical course may reduce numbers progressing to severe disease. The apparent safety and low cost suggest that ivermectin is likely to have a significant impact on the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic globally. The Equality Act's stated goal is "to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation, and for other purposes." (What are the "other purposes"?) The bill employs the phrase "lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (referred to as 'LGBTQ')." That's as close to a definition it gets. Anywhere discrimination on the basis of sex appears in the law, the new terms gender identity and sexual orientation will be added. That includes laws on public accommodations, employment, housing, credit, education, federally funded programs, jury service, and child welfare programs. One foreboding clause states: "The Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 ... shall not provide a claim concerning, or a defense to a claim under, a covered title, or provide a basis for challenging the application or enforcement of a covered title." So destroying religious freedom on these issues is one of the "other purposes" of the Equality Act. No Definitions What exactly will be protected under the terms "gender identity" and "sexual orientation" in Biden's E.O. and the Equality Act is left unanswered. So we must look elsewhere for hints. Gender Identity The whole idea of "gender" is a recent, irrational, and evolving theoretical construct disseminated by sexual radical academics, political activists, and allies in the medical establishment. But what we've seen play out so far under cover of "transgender rights" reveals it as pure lunacy. Massachusetts law includes a silly circular definition of "gender identity." The relevant section states: ''Gender identity'' shall mean a person's gender-related identity, appearance or behavior, whether or not that gender-related identity, appearance or behavior is different from that traditionally associated with the person's physiology or assigned sex at birth. Gender-related identity may be shown by providing evidence including, but not limited to, medical history, care or treatment of the gender-related identity, consistent and uniform assertion of the gender-related identity or any other evidence that the gender-related identity is sincerely held as part of a person's core identity... The Massachusetts attorney general explains, "In essence, gender identity is a person's internal sense of their own gender." So "gender" is just what an individual thinks about himself, unconnected to the reality around him. But we all must "respect" his delusion. Note the absurd phrase, "sex assigned at birth," which negates the scientific reality of the biological distinction between male and female. The far-left Human Rights Campaign has an equally absurd definition: Gender identity: One's innermost concept of self as male, female, a blend of both or neither — how individuals perceive themselves and what they call themselves. One's gender identity can be the same or different from their sex assigned at birth. Already, we've seen this nonsense allow for glaring abuses in language, schools, sports, public accommodations, health care, insurance, and businesses. Children are being confused and indoctrinated; some are having their bodies destroyed and sterilized by puberty-blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgical mutilations. Lacking any rational legal definition, who can imagine what further demands will be justified under the "gender identity" umbrella? Sexual Orientation What is exactly is "sexual orientation"? Massachusetts law includes a disturbing hint of what could come our way if Biden's E.O. and the Equality Act law are enforced: legalized pedophilia. Where Massachusetts law mentions "sexual orientation" (as protected from discrimination), the term is immediately followed by the phrase, "which shall not include persons whose sexual orientation involves minor children as the sex object." Clearly, pedophilia can be considered a sexual orientation. But the E.O. and Equality Act do not qualify "sexual orientation" in this way. Nor do they exclude other reprehensible and dangerous practices that could be considered sexual orientations such as BDSM, polygamy, prostitution, bestiality, and pornography addiction. The Human Rights Campaign defines sexual orientation as "[a]n inherent or immutable enduring emotional, romantic or sexual attraction to other people" — without any limitation on who those "other people" might be. That syrupy reference to emotion and romance helps cover over the dangerous promiscuity common to many in the "LGBT community." And the HRC repeats the false claim that sexual orientation is "inherent or immutable." LGBTQ+ The Equality Act uses the acronym LGBTQ without defining it. The longstanding words "lesbian" and "gay" are obvious — but what exactly are "bisexual," "transgender," and "queer"? And Biden recently gave an interview to Philadelphia Gay News (Oct. 2020) promising the moon to the "LGBTQ+" community. He said, "It's about dignity, plain and simple." What does Q mean? What does the + (plus) mean? Here is the Human Rights Campaign on Q for "queer": Queer: A term people often use to express a spectrum of identities and orientations that are counter to the mainstream. Queer is often used as a catch-all to include many people, including those who do not identify as exclusively straight and/or folks who have non-binary or genderexpansive identities. When asked how he does that, he says, “Scare the f*ck out of them.” Gipe says that he thinks that there are a lot of teachers like him. He makes his students take an ideology quiz at the beginning of the course and has them provide a photo of themselves which he pins on the bulletin board indicating where they fall on the political spectrum. How is that acceptable? Doesn’t that put pressure on students to conform? Perhaps that’s precisely the point. Gipe says that he doesn’t get a whole lot of pushback from parents because his students are in 12th Grade and by that time, most parents have “backed off” and let students “fend for themselves.” “Every year, they get further and further left… I’m like, ‘These ideologies are considered extreme, right? Extreme times breed extreme ideologies.’ Right? There is a reason why Generation Z, these kids, are becoming further and further left,” said Gipe.
