The Giant Burrowing Cricket, as seen here. Although its volume has not been precisely measured, it is said to rank among the world's noisiest insects. It has a range of around 3 km in terms of audibility. I finally managed to catch a clip of a cricket insect, but it took forever. You hear them all the time, but I happened to be near the right spot when one emerged from the ground and made that loud noise.
