This beautiful fountain at the entrance of the Salish Lodge in Snoqualmie, Washington is made of local granite rock. The plantings around the fountain only enhance its beauty.

Looking at the upper part of Snoqualmie Falls, you see the deep channels carved through solid rock by the Snoqualmie River, over millions of years.

By the shore of Flowing Lake near Monroe, Washington, I captured the constant wave action, with sparkling moving water, and undulating water lilies.

At Flowing Lake County Park, I saw these paddlers in their colorful craft.

Standing on the dock on the east side of the lake, I pointed the camera at the plants growing in the green water, as the water rippled. I also got a dog chasing a ball into the lake, and water-lilies on the south side of the lake.

Out of the car window, I shot video of the road, and the volcano in the distance.

Along Washington State Highway 504, on the road to Mount St. Helens, we stopped at a pullout along the road, where we got a view of the lower Toutle River. In 1980, when the volcano erupted, the river valley was a sea of mud, rock, and downed trees.

This is the most complex of the Alderwood Mall fountains that uses columnar basalt. There are egg-shaped pieces of rock that have been hollowed-out and polished, and form parts of the flowing-water fountain.

This is another fountain at the Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood, Washington. It has many elements made of columnar basalt from Eastern Washington.

I went to the local outdoor mall last week, and they have three beautiful fountains there. What they have in common is the use of "columnar basalt" elements. The rock is found in the hills of Eastern Washington, and is solidified volcanic magma, that forms six-sided columns when the magma cools. This one uses "laminar flow"-the water stays in a coherent arch and does not spray.

ON the Washington State Ferry Spokane, from Edmonds to Kingston, I stood on the deck at the bow, watching the progress of a sailboat with a bright, red sail. The wind was blowing briskly, and the boat was moving pretty fast.

A while after we arrived on the beach at Dungeness Spit, the air grew colder, and the fog started to roll in. The wind rose, and the waves got bigger too. The world seemed to be wreathed in silver.

On the Dungeness Spit National Wildlife Refuge, Sequim, Washington on Friday, July 9, in the late afternoon. The wind was brisk, and the waves showed that. The tide was just starting to go out, and the wind seemed to be arguing with the direction of the tide.

This shows the extent of the waterfall into the reflecting pool.

Bellevue Downtown Park in Washington has a big reflecting pool, with a fascinating waterfall that spans the pool. Water falls straight down, creating interesting patterns in the pool below. The pool also has its resident mallard ducks, who can be seen here.

This is the grand finale of the Bellevue fireworks for 2021. The show was magnificent this year.

At the Bellevue Downtown Park on July 4, 2021, I held my phone in the vertical orientation to see if it made any difference in the quality of the video. I'd love comments from viewers on which way is best.

In the big pool, around the vertical fountain/waterfall at Bellevue (WA) Downtown Park on July 4, there were two female mallard ducks with their little flotilla of eight ducklings. Cute!
