4 Things Every Gun Owner Should Learn
You bought a gun, great. Now here’s 4 things to prioritize to make sure you’re staying a safe and responsible gun owner:
1. Gun Safety
Learn the Universal Gun Safety Rules. Refresh your memory of them often. Make sure everyone living in your home knows them.
2. Proper Storage
Know the storage laws of your state including when traveling. Store your firearm properly. Keep away from children and unauthorized persons. Do not leave your firearm unattended in your vehicle.
3. Learn the laws of your state. A local firearms instructor can help with this. Ask questions. Don’t internalize common misconceptions about guns.
4. Learn Stop the Bleed.
If you know how to make holes, you should know how to plug them. Stop the bleed is handy for significantly more than just gun shot wounds.

What are Stand Your Ground Laws?
A stand your ground law is enacted at state level and permits an individual to protect themselves with the use of reasonable force, including deadly force, to prevent death or great bodily harm.
Stand your ground defense does NOT include avoiding having to justify why you used force. There is still a burden of proving justified use of deadly force.
Just because you claim Stand Your Ground doesn’t mean it’s a get out of jail free card. “Reasonable” is an important word. If your actions could be legally deemed unjustifiable you will be charged and asked to face a jury. The jury will decide if they believe the deadly force used was reasonable or not.

7 Things About Gun Ownership I Wish I Knew Sooner
1. Self-defense is a lifestyle. The more you train and practice situational awareness, the more it becomes apart of your subconscious.
2. The more comfortable your holster, the more likely you are to carry everyday. Obviously it won’t feel like “nothing”, but it shouldn’t be extremely uncomfortable.
3. Your edc (everyday carry) may evolve over time as your needs change and as you learn more about your firearm.
4. Flying with a firearm in your checked luggage is a fairly simple process. Check the reciprocity of that state you’ll be traveling to.
5. The more you train, the more certain concepts will all come together. It could be training with a specific instructor or just the amount of time you put in at the range or dry fire that can spark aha moments.
6. Owning a firearm isn’t a guarantee you won’t be shot! And even for non violent events like car accidents, knowing how to stop the bleed is a good skill to have.
7. The range is to confirm what you’re practicing in dry fire. You shouldn’t need hours upon hours of range time or to use tons of ammo each visit. But hey if you can do it in these times of inflation…more power to you 🤘🏾 let me get a dollar 😂

Fight Like A Girl @realitydefensetraining7910
Women that are sexually assaulted have a 90% chance of knowing their attacker. Which means they may already be interacting in close proximity to you. On average, men have more body strength than women.
At no point in life do I ever wish to fight a man, much less square up to one. But self-defense isn’t as much about “overpowering” an attacker as it is about outwitting them.
Don’t allow your size to discourage you. Attackers and abusers eagerly take advantage of those they believe won’t fight back. It’s statistically proven, they prey on who they believe to be “easy targets.”
Don’t make it easy. Focusing on the easiest techniques that can be the most startling or cause excruciating pain, gives the time needed to create distance, escape, and/or draw a weapon.

“A Pledge To Liberty”: The Story of William Anderson Pledger
William Anderson Pledger was an editor, political leader, and civil rights activist, born in Georgia. He attended Atlanta University and is credited as the first African American Lawyer in Atlanta. He was known for fighting against lynching. And once led armed blacks to the Athens jail and successfully defied a mob determined to lynch two prisoners.
Unhappy with his stance and political leanings on a Republican platform his employment was threatened and he was accused of “indoctrinating ‘radicalism’ into the negros heads.”

“Commanding Respect”: A Story of The Commandos
Day 20 of 28:
In October of 1966, the exclusively male security unit known as the Commandos were formed. Dressed in their black berets, boots and sweatshirts with the word “Commando” they encountered hostile and violent counter demonstrators during protests.
They were the most effective social service organization in Milwaukee for nearly a decade, providing youth counseling, jobs for ex-offenders, foster homes, and more. But soon they started taking government grants and contracts which James Groppi tried to warn them about. Eventually they went out of business under Ronald Reagan budget cuts.

“A NAACP Outlier”: The Story of Robert F. A Williams
12 of 28:
Robert F. Williams, the president of the Monroe, North Carolina NAACP, caused friction with the nonviolent wing of the Civil Rights movement. Even though his method of armed self-defense proved to have some validity, like when they ran off the KKK from his VP’s home, many people in the NAACP refused to get onboard. The biggest obstacle was that the biggest funders for the NAACP were white progressives that were diametrically opposed to black citizens using armed defense. This made the NAACP look much differently from its early days when it a was a staunch supporter of cases where black Americans had used their 2A rights.
Williams’ authored “Negroes with Guns” that chronicles his experience.
