Inspector Wexford - Kissing The Gunner's Daughter
Thanks to Per Vangtoft I now have uploaded all the Inspector Wexford's that were on VHS only and unavailable to buy now. I will create a new playlist of all the Inspector Wexford's in chronological order. This Wexford was given to me in two halves and I have joined both parts together. I also had to sync the sound on part 2. The original copies given to me by Per were all in sync but my editing software threw the lip syncing out for some reason, it's all corrected now 🙂
You will see a subtle difference in picture quality and sound between both halves but it's still very watchable. I hope you enjoy this Inspector Wexford after the long wait.

Inspector Wexford - An Unwanted Woman
From the VHS cover:
Among the senior citizens of quiet Kingsmarkham, these apple-faced kindly country folk, the world of passion and desires is not yet dim. Did septuagenarians Mr. and Mrs. Betts murder their unbearable old mother Ivy Wrangton, to inherit her house? Gossip among the Castle Road post office ladies says that when Mrs. Wrangton 'died' there would be no inquest; yet Elsie Parrish, Mrs. Wrangton's best friend, who also got a little something in her will, won't hear of any foul play.
The Case at first seems as innocuous as the suicide of childless Ann Waterton, an old lady befriended by lonely mixed-up teenager, Sophie Grant.
What can be the dark side of this sweet story?
Inspector Wexford - The Mouse In The Corner
A well-liked local farmer is beaten to death in his own kitchen; there are no suspects and all his family have alibis.
Inspector Wexford - The Speaker of Mandarin
From the VHS cover:
To his utter astonishment, Chief Inspector Reg Wexford experiences some bizarre psychic sensations - like a vision of the corpse of the Marquise of Lai, dead for 2,000 years: while on an official visit to China. His sight-seeing party is made up of disparate strangers yet he feels a strange tension and claustrophobic atmosphere in their midst.
On his return to England, Wexford is called to the scene of a murder - that of a woman who was, by strange coincidence, on the Chinese sight-seeing trip....
Inspector Wexford - Achilles Heel
For everyone who loves the Wexford Mysteries, here's another one for you.
From the VHS box description:
Whilst on holiday in Corsica, Wexford meets a charismatic young couple. Phillip and Iris Blackstock seem to have it all ... handsome, successful and rich they seem to have found the perfect happiness.
Inspector Wexford - Means of Evil
I often copy what is written on the VHS cover but I'm not going to in this case as I feel it gives too much away.
Here is a very shortened version:
Inspector Wexford and Burden attend wholefood fanatic Alex Kingman's wedding.
Most of the world is on Lockdown at the moment, I hope this upload gives you a little joy as we have to stay at home.

Inspector Wexford - From Doon With Death
Another classic Inspector Wexford staring George Baker and Christoper Ravenscroft. This is a VHS transfer. The VHS cover description slightly gives the game away so I have decided not to put it in this description. I hope this upload gives you as much pleasure as watching these Wexford's has given me.
Inspector Wexford - Murder Being Once Done
From the VHS Cover:
A chilling murder investigation begins when a young girl's body is found hidden in a vault in a gloomy London cemetery.
Loveday Morgan was strangled with a silk scarf. The only clues in her handbag were a photo and two telephone numbers.
Wexford, convalescing in London, finds himself irresistibly drawn to the case.
His unofficial investigation delves into the lives of those involved to reveal a moving story about adoption and the intense love of parents for their children.
Inspector Wexford - A New Lease Of Death
I know this is an upload that I have already done but I wanted to change it to one that the sound has been corrected as the original was out of sync half way through the video.
This is one of my favourite Wexford stories, it's quite different, I think, from many of the others.
Hopefully, if ITV see how popular these are on YouTube they might release the complete collection on DVD or Blu-ray.

Inspector Wexford - Put On By Cunning
From the VHS cover:
"Celebrated international flautist, Sir Manuel Camargue, is found drowned in an icy lake in the grounds of his home. Everyone believes his death is a tragic accident, but Wexford becomes suspicious when Camargue's fiancee Dinah claims that his long-lost daughter, Natalie, who returned to see her father shortly before his death, was an impostor.
In trying to prove the deception, Wexford's trail leads him to America where Natalie had spent the years away from her father. ...."
Inspector Wexford - An Unkindness of Ravens
From the VHS cover:
"Detective Chief Inspector Reg Wexford thinks that the disappearance of Rodney Williams is nothing more serious than a case of a wayward husband, who has run off with another woman. But when his body is discovered, buried in a wood, Wexford realises he has another case of murder to solve. ..."
The sound is a little muffled to begin with but hopefully clear enough for you to hear, this often happens with VHS tapes compared with DVD and Blu-ray.
Inspector Wexford - The Best Man To Die
As yet, apart from a VHS release, these early Inspector Wexford stories aren't available on general release. Hopefully, some day a box set will be released for us all to enjoy. When if it does, I will paste a link in the description.
From the VHS back cover:
A young man is murdered on the eve of his best friend's wedding. A young woman is found dead at the scene of a fatal road accident in which a wealthy businessman is also killed. It is a puzzle for Detective Chief Inspector Reg Wexford and his colleague D.I. Burden, who discover a possible connection between the deaths as they unearth a tangled tale of adultery, blackmail and greed.
Personal problems for both detectives blight their lives at a time when they would prefer to concentrate on their investigations. One killer on the loose or two? That is the question they first need to have answered before they can make their arrest.
Inspector Wexford - Some Lie and Some Die
The beginning of this video jumps a little, I hope it doesn't spoil your enjoyment, unfortunately that VHS for you.
Quote taken from the VHS cover:
A massive rock concert is the scene of a murder mystery when the body of a young woman is found viciously battered in the eerie darkness of a quarry as thousands of fans watch the glittering performance of top rock star, Zeno. Which means there are thousands of possible suspects in this brutal killing - a depressing thought for even the most diligent detective.
Inspector Wexford - No More Dying Then
From the cover of the VHS tape:
The disappearance of ten year old Stella Rivers is haunting Detective Chief Inspector Reg Wexford. No body has been found and now, a year later, another child, a five year old boy, has gone missing.
Wexford fears the worst and his tension in not yet solving the crimes adds to the distress suffered by Wexford's colleague, D.I. Mike Burden, still grieving for his dead wife after 12 months.

Inspector Wexford - No Crying He Makes
This episode of Inspector Wexford was first broadcast 23rd December 1988. I've always really enjoyed the Wexford dramas and I'm still waiting for the complete box-set. The Wexford videos that I have been uploading are no longer available and have only been released on VHS.
Inspector Wexford - Shake Hands Forever
Taken from the VHS cover:
Another Ruth Rendell Mystery which finds Wexford doggedly pursuing a course of action which increasingly isolates him from Inspector Burden, his wife, Dora, and all those around him.
Convinced he knows who committed the murder of Angela Hathall, he has no evidence to support his theory. He is doubted by friends and colleagues alike and begins to despair as he believes the murderer will get away with it.
Will the famous Wexford instinct and perseverance win out in the end?
Inspector Wexford - A Guilty Thing Surprised
The following description of this story is taken from the reverse side of the VHS:
Elizabeth Nightingale seemed a happily married woman with many friends and few enemies. Yet, when her body is discovered in a dark wood, Chief Inspector Reg Wexford and his valued sidekick, Inspector Burden, unearth a whole battallion of suspects with their own resentments, their own private hatreds, their own jealous passions. Only the astute, persistent - almost psychic - perceptions of human frailty lead Wexford and Burden to the dark, yet obvious, conclusion that there lurks a very cunning killer waiting to be brought to justice.

Inspector Wexford - Wolf to the Slaughter
Taken from the VHS box: An anonymous note. A straightforward case, so Detective Chief Inspector Wexford and his grim-faced assistant, Mike Burden, assume.
The man's name is Smith, his victim, Anita Margolis. Investigations reveal that wealthy, flighty and immoral, perhaps she had invited the crime.
After all, nice girls don't bring lovers home in the afternoon. And nice girls keep their money in safe places.
But you can't have a murder without a body. Or can you?
